
Meditation Explained Part 1 Soul

Who am I : Soul. The soul is amazing - it has the ability to store everything about you, everything that makes you who you are. In the soul is contained a record of everything you’ve seen and spoken, everything you’ve done, and every thought you’ve created from the very beginning of your life. I am the creator of my own thoughts and if I change the quality of my thoughts, my whole life will start to change.

Hey,
I'm Shanti and welcome soul to soul.
Why do you want to meditate?
This is Rose from Brahma Kumari's Inner Space in Glasgow.
So what is your motivation?
Do you have any idea what you hope to get from taking time out to be quiet,
To be still?
Is it peace of mind?
Could it be less stress?
Maybe even understanding your thoughts and feelings or being more in control of your emotions?
Or perhaps discovering who you are on a deeper level?
Maybe even finding God?
Maybe going beyond the daily problems we all face?
And maybe even all of these?
You may want to find out everything.
So when we look at Raja Yoga meditation,
It can guide me towards the awareness of my true peaceful self,
Because our true selves are peace.
Peace is our original nature.
It's because we've moved away from peace and because of our journey.
We've been on a long journey and because of this journey we pick up all sorts of doubts and uncertainties and apprehensions and worry etc.
And none of these could you ever describe as peaceful.
They're things that make us feel unsettled and agitated.
And so all of these are like our backdrop now.
We've got worry at the back.
Even of the good things that happen,
There's worry at the back.
So disturbance has become the energy that's at the back of most things.
So it's when I come to Raja Yoga I realise stillness and peace is my natural nature.
And through meditation I can learn to put this into my nature so that it comes to be the energy not so much at the back of everything but at the front of everything.
So that I can remember to be still when certain things come.
Okay so I'm moving towards learning about my true peaceful self.
So I sit quietly and I go within,
That is I start to look at the way I think.
So this will actually help me to remember that I am a soul,
A peaceful soul,
Point of light.
So just knowing this,
Just have to keep practicing this because practice makes perfect and it takes time.
So first of all we need some signposts to see how the inner self works,
To be able to see myself more clearly.
So we know everything there is to know actually.
There's hardly anything nowadays we don't know about the outside world.
So now I have to make time to find out about my inner world,
My personal inner world.
And for that see yourself as a soul,
A tiny point of light,
A spark of consciousness.
Physical happiness comes from temporary things and it isn't real happiness.
Why?
Because it doesn't last.
So why is true happiness and peace missing from our lives?
So if you wish to look at your inner world so that you can be more calm and peaceful and have more energy for life,
Is this what it is we wish to be more calm and peaceful?
As yoga meditation takes me further and just being able to concentrate,
To be calmer or calm.
And the first question to think about is who am I?
I express myself through the body and I live a life in a physical world but who am I?
This energy inside me,
This living life being is the one who thinks,
Feels,
Memorises and experiences.
I'm the soul,
I experience everything.
And I can learn a lot from observing the body but it's very important to journey inwards and look at the life energy inside the being,
The one who feels the emotions,
The insults,
The unhappiness,
The distrust,
Etc.
I am the soul that lives in the physical body and every soul on the planet is totally unique.
We all create so many different thoughts and feelings,
We're all different,
We have different experiences,
We have unique experiences every day and this is what makes each and every soul individual,
An individual soul.
Souls do have the same essential qualities,
Peace,
Love,
Power,
Purity and happiness.
So to begin your meditation practice listen to some simple,
Gentle,
Guided meditation thoughts and it's helpful to keep your eyes open.
The location of the soul is just above and behind the eyes and the form of the soul is a tiny point of light.
So quietly allow thoughts about the soul to run through my mind.
So let us set aside some time to make a plan to get to know the true self.
So as a soul I put myself back into the picture and then life,
This journey of life will be a smoother journey.
Once I know that I am the soul and I can stop and start and steer and travel knowing I am the driver and the body is as if it's the car and the physical world is like the territory that I'm driving through.
It takes a lot of attention to keep positive thoughts going and so daily meditation is essential.
Maintain your self images.
I'm a soul.
I'm a point of peace and you will improve daily because peace is our original power and peace is the seed of our lives actually.
It's our life energy.
It's the seed of all that happens in our lives.
When I regain my peace I regain my power and the power of peace affects everything.
My entire body system is strengthened through the power of peace not through the power of disturbance and worry and stress and fear that actually weakens the body system and the mind and makes the self anxious and unhappy.
When I know I can give strength to my actions and the different attitudes that I have this starts to bring me some happiness and there's a possibility I might want to hold on to that happiness and strengthen that happiness and strengthen the self from within.
I the soul am a powerful thinking loving peaceful life energy.
I am the energy that makes this body work.
Without I the soul the body cannot stay alive.
I am the life so I have to understand the life that I am.
I'm a being of peace the foundation for everything is peace.
From peace comes everything steadiness fearlessness faithfulness trusting kindness understanding loving fresh strength excitement intelligence everything comes from my foundation of being peaceful.
I'm a being of peace I am the soul.
You have to look at the feelings inside yourself.
If you've got a lot of agitation and worry and anger inside then you'll feel loss because I'll always be someone who's more worried more angry more agitated.
And so it becomes a conflict of different energies and it's like oh especially if we are gentle souls and I do think the basis of all the people who come learn meditation is gentle souls.
Kindly souls we're looking for our peace again to find that which we have lost and all these other energies are showing us that we have moved away from our peaceful loving gentle selves.
And so when I begin to understand that I might want quite dramatically to pull the soft sweetness back to myself and I could leave no stone unturned until I understand it.
So that's about what I can say I mean I can talk from my own experience but that's I think what happened to me I knew that I was actually quite a gentle soul although I wasn't actually acting like that at that moment because I was reacting to a lot of the stuff around me.
So we have to stop reacting to the stuff around you and practice more and more inside being who you feel you really are.
And actually we might think there's softness like too soft being peaceful and that people take advantage but actually you find out very quickly that's not true.
There is strength in being peaceful it makes you very strong.
It doesn't mean you get soft and foolish it means you become wise and strong so that's something to remember meditation makes you wise and strong not soft and foolish we're soft and foolish before we do the meditation and we can become wise and strong after we become people who do meditation.
So now we're going to do some rational meditation so you sit upright and you focus your eyes on a point of light if there's one available to you the center of your forehead bring your attention to the center of your forehead keep your eyes open and try to put these thoughts through your mind because we're becoming peaceful but peace comes from our thinking it's not that there's nothing goes on inside our heads because if nothing happens inside our heads with our thoughts then nothing different will come out so I focus on the center of my forehead and I think of the words that I am a soul a tiny point of living life energy and I sit in the center of my forehead I am the life that enables this physical body to function I give life to the body the more I become aware of the energies of the soul the more I give good energy to the body that I am responsible for this can help the body to feel better healthier fresher more energized again I need to practice if it's important to me I need to practice put into my daily life I am a soul so quietly allow thoughts about the soul to run through my mind and make time and make a plan to get to know who I truly am it is helpful to keep your eyes open and to remember that I the soul I'm a tiny point of living light living life energy Ohm Shanti Ohm Shanti I am a being of peace you you
