Pure kindness or altruism can make us feel good about ourselves, but if we get a big ego that’s not so admirable! What is Kindness is made up of? Love, understanding, empathy and selflessness, but in order to be truly kind there must be no ulterior motive – no bargain. A simple act of kindness, can regenerate positive feelings that spread in all directions. What about Karma ?

Om Shanti.

Today's class about kindness.

It isn't a one-off,

Just a few ideas.

So maybe further information is required and whatever you feel about the information is fine.

But Rajoga is a study and it's something that you study regularly because putting yourself to rights and hoping the world can go to rights is not just a five day minute cure.

It takes time to understand how it fits together.

The secret ingredient is strength and when we look at strength,

If we're sad,

Lonely,

Unhappy,

Annoyed,

Upset,

It appears nowadays to be normal but it really means we've lost our power because it's not natural to be sad,

Unhappy,

Annoyed and upset.

It means there's no power to be happy.

What are the signs that the world has lost its strength and why do people talk about things like heaven?

So what is heaven?

What is happening today in the world?

There are earthquakes,

Floods,

All kinds of disasters.

There are some places that are still quite beautiful but nature even in the beautiful places is usually quite dangerous,

Tricky,

Insects,

Wild animals etc.

Even weather can be unpredictable.

So that's today's world and we know this and no matter how young we may be,

Even when we were young,

Very young,

When the young were very young,

The world was different from it is today and those that are more mature would say the world is very different to what it is today and nowadays the rules change quickly and dramatically and things happen very suddenly.

The world has lost its strength.

In Raj Yoga we look at,

Just look at three different time periods.

There is a time when the world,

There's a time when we become fresh,

Refreshed,

New,

Full of our power and then there's this,

A lot of people disagree with this but even in prison boys all knew that what goes around comes around.

They used to say they were terrified because they were going to get the comeuppance or whatever it was they did and I used to reassure them and say well just start doing something right now that's good and things will develop for you.

What we call heaven is simply a time when the world's at its new time period,

It's fresh,

It's become refreshed.

Nature is fresh,

Everything that lives there is fresh and if we restore our peace and our kindness and enthusiasm and love and things like that we're putting freshness back into our nature now.

That's why we do meditation and there's a good chance that we would take rebirth when the world is fresh.

That's something to think about.

The world is fresh for half of the time period and in the middle there's a time when the world has lost a lot of its power but it's still okay and many religions are all established at that time where people all beg for help and look for what's the answer and come into different religions and and do everything they can with good actions to keep themselves empowered but then people have kind of moved away a lot from religion even though they say they are,

They're not practicing fully whatever their religion is and so the world is getting weaker and people are getting weaker and then the violence and the anger and the upsets and the upheavals all take part in this third part of the drama.

Now we're in the third part.

I think there's no mistake that we're in the third part and so we practice meditation to bring back our power.

That's why we start looking at things like kindness.

So I've got some questions here.

Pure kindness can make us feel good about ourselves.

We do feel good if we're kind but if we let ego come in then that's not so admirable.

So ego means I think I'm great for being kind.

That's not exactly so good.

I suppose better than nothing.

What is kindness made up of?

It's love,

Understanding,

Empathy and selflessness but in order to be truly kind,

This is the question again,

There must be no ulterior motive,

Also no bargain.

I'll be kind if something good happens for me.

It's automatic that whatever we do,

We get the return from whatever situation.

If I'm kind to someone and even if they dislike us,

Will have nothing to do with us,

Hate us,

Run away at the other end of the world,

But if I keep having kind feelings somehow against their conscious wish,

They will start to generate feelings of kindness for you.

That's the law of energy.

Here's another question.

A simple act of kindness can regenerate positive feelings that spread in all directions.

Just like I've said,

Can even go back over to Australia,

Making people sort of feel better about us.

Even if we can't see them,

Never saw them for 20 years,

But this process actually works because energy touches energy.

But what about karma?

That's the next part of that question.

That's fine saying give good wishes to someone in Australia or people that are not nice to you or people that are nice to you.

You give good feelings,

But what about karma?

Karma is about situations and relationships,

Et cetera.

The principle of karma teaches us that every thought,

Word and action are seeds that grow and bear fruit.

If someone's angry with me and I'm angry back to them,

Nothing but them being annoyed with me again and again will come out of it.

And me being all upset about it,

That will be the result.

But if someone's not nice to me and I just teach myself,

Don't go there,

Fine.

You could look weak when you do this.

You'd think,

Oh,

This one's so soft.

So you have to have no ego.

You're not being soft.

You're being totally strong because it's quite something to resist retaliating when you know you could.

You'd have a whole load of stuff you could say,

You,

You,

You are this,

You're that,

You're the next thing and how dare you?

But you don't.

So with the result,

Something will have touched them even underneath all their animosity.

And at some point,

They will give you back some good energy.

That's the principle of karma.

Every thought,

Word and action are seeds that grow to bear fruit,

Whether it's good fruit or you just make it worse and you still get not much good out of it.

But so according to this karmic philosophy,

If the seed of thoughts is selfless and genuine,

Then we will create better karma.

And quite often we have nice people involved with us in the first place.

So,

But they might not want to listen.

They might not go for anything that sounds like this,

But by being nice to them,

You will be lifting them up with love because you'll understand that it's up to you because they don't know anyone else is going to continue to lift them up with love.

So that energy will be touching them.

And the result could be that they're being nicer to you and nicer to you.

They don't know that that's what's happening,

But you can start to see that's what's happening.

It might not be obvious,

But it's definitely happening.

That's the law of energy.

So whether or not we accept reincarnation,

The idea of cause and effect is familiar.

So everybody knows this.

Everybody knows this.

That as we sow,

So shall we reap.

Is placing other people's desires before our own too difficult?

And what about if we feel that we're losing something in the process?

This is what I wanted to do,

But they want to do it better.

So do I just step back and let them do the good thing in that interaction?

But the thing to remember,

If you're kind,

Then kindness will come back to you.

I mean,

That's a definite rule.

It's not maybe,

Maybe it'll come back to you.

Oh,

It might.

Oh,

But I can't see it.

But usually you can't see it.

You've got to start to have faith in yourself and faith in what you're doing.

And if you believe and have a good feeling,

That good feeling definitely will come back to you.

And within that,

There can be a lot of tussle of difficult people,

Difficult situations.

And you think,

Oh,

I don't know if that worked.

This is worse than I ever thought.

But you have to have faith.

Just let go of that and just keep being lighthearted,

Doing the best you can,

Giving as good energy as you can and just let it go.

It will do its own work.

It's quite uplifting if you think like this,

Isn't it?

People that you find difficult,

People that say,

What are you doing that for?

Why are you doing that?

You don't even need to answer too much.

Just it's okay.

Just be kind,

Friendly,

Lighthearted and something will happen.

How does this way of thinking create a freedom for me?

If I keep doing things that are beneficial for myself and for others by the way I'm treating them with respect,

Honouring them because everyone on the planet,

Everyone no matter how they are,

No matter how they are,

Inside they have kindness.

When they came,

When the planet was fresher,

Their energies were great energies.

They would be kind and friendly and lighthearted and buoyant and loving.

That's the way it is.

They wouldn't have to struggle with that.

Their struggle would be their fortune and who they were involved with now,

Who helped them by giving them good wishes and good feelings or practicing meditation for themselves now.

But they would come at a time when the planet and everything was in a higher energy.

So the planet's old age now.

Many of the people on the planet are old age.

Even if they're in a fresh body,

Their still thinking is like old age because we're running out of power,

Strength and I have to put the power back.

And so how does thinking like this create a freedom for me personally,

For ourselves personally and why do we get caught up in the damaging cycle of blame like it's their fault.

It's just they started it.

Oh,

They're so angry.

Oh,

It's just so difficult.

And I didn't start it,

It wasn't me,

It was them.

So why do we blame?

Almost in every situation now,

No one will say it was their fault.

Most people say it wasn't me,

But the train was late,

My boss was angry.

This didn't happen.

Something happened.

Someone came to the door,

Made me late.

There was a traffic jam.

There's never the self.

It's always something out there that caused me to do something.

Never the self.

So why is that?

So the answer to that is for me,

You can think of all these things,

You'll have different answers because we try to keep an image in ourselves.

We do try.

Something inside us tells us to keep a higher image of ourselves,

Even though we're going the wrong way about it.

It's no,

It wasn't me.

Like I wouldn't do a thing like that.

Which whereas yoga,

When you have a look,

You would do a thing like that,

But to yourself,

You will not admit that.

You say no,

No,

Because no,

No,

It was this man in the traffic started getting road rage and shouting at me and I just sat there.

It wasn't my fault.

So you have to really look at the self and see that and stop casting blame and start to take insight.

You don't have to speak it out to the world.

You have to start taking a bit of the responsibility for yourself and your actions to yourself and not trying to say it was how they did it.

They said that and that's why I got annoyed.

If they hadn't said that,

I wouldn't have got annoyed.

So it was them that started it.

So don't need to do that anymore.

So selflessness is not a denial.

I think the good news.

Kindness is a positive and wise way to be.

Selflessness is not being put down,

So that people might put you down for a bit.

It's not that,

Just let them think they are.

Kindness is leadership because when you do this and you're touching other people with that energy,

You're quietly showing them the path to a better way to think and against their conscious wish,

They're sending you better feelings.

So you're leading them to have an energy that will take them closer to when the earth is full of power and strength and fresh.

And this is what people call heaven actually.

The moment heaven doesn't exist,

We're at the other end of the scale now.

But in the future,

When the earth is fresh again,

It will almost be like it's heavenly.

It will be easy.

It will be abundant.

People will like each other,

Even love each other,

Smiling,

Friendliness,

Helpfulness,

Kindness.

All those energies will be there.

It's the cycle of time and our own energies tie in with it.

As the cycle of time comes lower and lower,

To when everything gets weaker and weaker,

We also do.

And then we think,

I never used to be like this.

That's fine.

It's natural.

You have to go through to this stage.

And then we start to have a look and decide,

Make a decision.

I'm going to lift myself up and I'm going to help others with my thoughts.

I might not be able to help them with my words or even with my actions,

But I'll help them through doing my best to make myself stable and steady and bring my kindness back and know that the people around me have those qualities in them.

They couldn't send kindness back to me unless they had it in themselves somewhere,

A way back in time.

And they couldn't be loving if they didn't have that in them somewhere,

A way back in time.

But they're not in a position to be sitting,

Listening or practicing to bring those qualities back to them.

So that's why you become leaders.

Who wants to be a leader and bring people back?

Om Shanti.

Because we've been through the journey of rebirth.

It's like we've moved through time,

Actually,

From the beautiful time,

Gradually,

Gradually,

Gradually,

And we're still in the journey.

And so to the front of our intellect,

We are filled now with the qualities of the journey,

Being diluted,

Diluted,

Diluted,

All the good stuff going away to the back.

And now we are having to cope with technology,

Different skills,

Different things,

Different catastrophes,

All different things that are happening in the world.

Our everyday life is to the front for a long,

Long,

Long period of time.

And so that which was up and running in the past,

It hasn't gone.

It's just been covered up.

If it's covered up,

We can uncover it.

It's still there,

If that makes sense.

It's covered up by all the different things that are happening.

Even today,

If you look back at when you were first going to school and everything,

You had lots of laughs and giggles and friends and lightheartedness.

But we're not like that now.

That's all kind of been covered up as well.

So I beg to say,

Well,

We should remember it,

But we can't be it.

We've grown older,

Some say wiser,

Which is why we practice meditation,

Because the power,

All the power is in peace.

At the beginning time,

We were totally,

Totally,

Totally peaceful.

It didn't mean we didn't smile and dance and sing and go on picnics and enjoy our lives,

But we had a vibration of complete relaxation,

Peacefulness.

And that power of peace is so strong that all the good qualities live in there.

They love it.

They love that peacefulness.

And as we go along the journey,

The peace disappears more and more and more until we're more into sort of push and shove and using our heads and getting worried and what can I do next?

And so the peace is going away over the horizon,

But it's still at the back.

So that's why when I practice meditation,

Become peaceful.

And those who've maybe been even a few times will find there is a difference in themselves.

Yeah,

It's not a big struggle.

And the more you become peaceful,

The more you feel,

Yeah,

You feel,

Yeah,

I can be more lighthearted.

Yeah,

I can be kinder.

Yes,

I can be more understanding.

Yes,

I can have strengths.

All of that comes from your foundation of peace,

Which was there at the beginning and gradually got covered up.

Allow myself to become very,

Very peaceful,

Totally relaxed.

Encourage it.

Encourage.

You can just keep practicing that.

And then I remember I am the energy,

But I'm connected to the higher power.

So I'm peaceful.

I'm energy connected to higher energy.

So let's go.
