I'm Shanti and welcome to Soul to Soul.
My name is Rose from the Brahma Kumaris Glasgow and today we are going to talk about hide and seek or who am I?
So let's relax and enjoy the journey.
We look at how we will,
I think most of us can identify with facing the same challenges over and over.
We can see that maybe it's a different scene and people are not the same but just maybe for example they're maybe annoyed with me or they disrespect me or they're acting the same as other people acted in different places at different times.
So what we look at is don't look for physical solutions like oh maybe it is there was not many people there or maybe it was a bad evening or maybe the news of the world wasn't good that day or maybe some of them are not feeling well.
I shouldn't be looking for physical solutions because that doesn't help me with what actually is happening.
The solutions will be in myself.
There must be something in my attitude that's making people act the same way as others have acted under a different situation.
So maybe I'm too bossy or maybe I would be too not sure of myself or there'll be something in me that's making my audience do the same thing as I've been experiencing before.
So I have to always look inside myself and kind of remember to have that consciousness of who am I but I'm the energy.
I'm not up here speaking for the sake of everyone applauding.
I'm up here speaking to help,
To create benefit and as the physical being I can actually do that.
I have to be aware that I'm the spiritual soul energy and then the vibration is different.
The vibration isn't body conscious.
So if we practice however some daily meditation it can help us to see things in a new way and if I'm lucky enough to be able to have fresh spiritual information every day it is nourishing.
It nourishes the soul.
It keeps reminding me who I am,
What my purpose is,
What my energies are.
So I think deeply about this and I practice having new thought patterns like let me be more soul conscious.
Who am I?
So it's coming from me you see.
It's me that's doing the talking.
And so this goes for all of us because we're all doing some form of spiritual work and whatever we're like we're bringing our body and our soul with us and when we speak if it's about spiritual things then let me think in a spiritual way.
I should think what are my beliefs,
Values and attitudes?
Like do I believe in my soul?
Do I believe in kindness,
Peacefulness,
Gentleness,
Happiness?
So if I can let these energies move around in me and if I can think about love and kindness and let these energies cascade through my whole system so I can change the way that I think.
So whenever all these old things come to me that seem to be the same and I'm not getting much coming back there and so I wonder what went on there.
So it's me.
I have to keep looking at myself.
Never mind looking at other people and say it must be because they are this or they are bored or they are fed up or they are tired or they're sleeping or you know they don't agree or they're not going to come back again or any of that.
I have to go beyond that and think but who am I?
Who am I?
Who am I that's using my energy to talk about spiritual things?
Perhaps situations will persist because I can't really change other people there but I won't get so distressed and I know there's always something to learn.
If however I distract myself over and over and ignore problems this is not healthy and it also is not healthy to just keep retelling the story of the problem.
Oh yeah everybody fell asleep or oh no there was hardly any people or yeah nobody disagreed no one agreed with what I was saying.
So it's like retelling the story of the problem over and over again making a deeper bigger and more difficult problem and thereby difficult to cope with.
So we're talking about all of us in our daily lives actually.
So when we practice meditation we're back to meditation this can help me to find a new way of seeing myself and whatever the situation because the situation is a window of opportunity.
It's always a chance for me to see myself in action and think how could I have said that better?
How could I have remembered who I am more?
How could I feel more of my own spiritual being?
So it's all about myself because whatever I put out has an effect and so a new outlook.
I can create a new outlook first by looking inside and examining what is it I believe.
Look at my thoughts my attitudes and choices when I practice looking at myself like this.
So simple actually there's always two energies in our lives our physical and our spiritual whether we're aware or unaware.
There's the body and there's the soul that is there's the form of the body and there's the consciousness.
Now if we think of ourselves as that point of light I the soul have great qualities within me and every person also has those same qualities.
It takes us to think about these things because this doesn't make us superior this makes us equal to each other.
This is the wonder Arash Yoga.
I can see others as having such similar things to me.
It's not that we're the same.
Someone's a lawyer,
Secretary or an artist,
A dancer,
A singer.
We're not the same but we cope with our role and we cope with our spiritual and physical being however we're going to do it.
But when I begin to understand this about myself I can begin to see that others also have those same inner qualities.
So say to yourself I'm the creator of my own thoughts and remember that we can connect with the one above and let that one become my companion.
Let that one have my back.
Even when something unexpected happens that one there jumps in to make it all right.
That everything's okay.
You're fine.
You can have a natural ongoing conversation with that one.
It's like talking to yourself instead of self-talk which doesn't go very far.
I can experience that I'm actually talking to the one above and then I can have conversations and experience support from the soul that's like a notion of peace.
That's better than just having thoughts going through my own head for me.
So we don't need to hide from our true self and there's no need to hide from the divine.
So look for and find and seek out your natural state of peace and power every day if possible through meditation.
And you'll find that you always have been searching for your own self and you'll find your own self and we'll see that through understanding my own self,
Through my thoughts,
Attitudes and choices I truly begin to reclaim my own power.
So it's this very natural understanding of the self.
Looking at the way I am,
Looking at the things that disturb me,
The things that distress me,
The things I'm trying to do that don't always go right.
And I'll learn from everything.
Everything that didn't go right is a window of opportunity to see there's something,
Something I can remember more and we're looking clearly at the journey of life and we're remembering that there are always the two energies at play.
It's not just the physical and it's not just the spiritual.
They have to work together.
It's body and soul,
Form and consciousness and we have these wondrous qualities within.
And you are the creator of your own thoughts and you can connect with the one above and you can let that one become a companion.
You can develop in yourself this natural method of sharing with that one,
Experience support from that ocean of peace.
You don't need to hide from your true self.
Whatever comes,
Comes.
That's the way it is.
And you don't have to hide from the divine one and say,
Oh gosh,
How can I look at this?
What's this?
That's the way it is.
So through daily meditation,
You'll find your own true self and this is what we've been searching for and this is what that one comes to do to show us who we are and give us power and strength and love.
Teach us how to be peaceful and happy.
Om Shanti.
So why do I continue to use ego or masks or smoke screens?
I was thinking even like a habit of sometimes distracting the self or others from something that actually needs to be addressed.
I know I have a little habit of that.
I'll sort of distract the attention.
I'll quickly change the subject onto something if I know that there's something that really needs to be discussed or looked at.
What's this fear of facing and this need to hide?
I suppose it's the fear of public opinion and we've been trained that the drama has to just flow along there and there shouldn't be any hitches and we don't want anything to go wrong in our drama and we also don't want people to not like us like our friends and relatives.
It's important we have these relationships and so what we do is we don't tell them everything and we don't share everything.
We only share that which we think they will approve of and if they think they want to approve of us,
We don't tell them.
Today we heard a class about not telling lies.
I think it's not that you tell lies,
It's just that you miss out the truth from time to time because you know that they wouldn't like it and if they don't like it,
You don't like that which comes with them not liking it.
So usually they try to lecture you or tell you what you should be doing and we're learning how to become people in control of ourselves.
So I think that would be an answer.
Thank you and you said self-talk only takes you so far if you can take a step to share with the divine that takes you much further.
Yeah and self-talk we've learned a lot from Rashoka and we know right and wrong and we know sort of Uptis as we call the methods.
Our vision isn't so far-fetched or so clear and I find that when you share everything that which is good and that which isn't so good,
You get more of a clear idea of how you may be focusing in the wrong direction or you're maybe making up with such enthusiasm charging off in the wrong direction because you think this is great,
It's an opportunity here,
It might not be so good and you've also got to think of somehow the paths that are involved and how these paths might not be very useful to you and you're charging off or you're trying to tell someone who will never never never want to take this and then at that point all you can do is give a peaceful vibration,
Lots of understanding and that way you're uplifting that soul but you're not pulling them into information that they will absolutely get upset by.
I'm shanty,
Focusing on the centre of our forehead,
Seeing myself as the energy,
The life energy that's always me,
The life energy that's been me from the beginning of my journey to the end of my journey,
Forever.
I am myself so it's very useful to get to know myself because I'm more with myself than with any other being ever.
And so to practice having new thoughts and to really sincerely look at what am I believing here,
What are my values and attitudes.
I may see them but do I do this and I can change so easily,
Change the way I think.
Early in the morning I can think oh gosh yes this,
This is what I'm going to do today and if I take it a step at a time I will think of that today and tomorrow I'll think of something else.
And so meditation can help me to find a new way of seeing myself and others and situations.
It's a window,
A beautiful window that opens a path for me.
I look at my thoughts,
My attitudes,
My choices and truly,
Truly,
Truly I reclaim my power.
And the power you will claim will be yourself,
The power to be you,
Your beautiful self,
The beautiful soul that you truly,
Truly are.
Om Shanti
