What are your aims for 2021? What do you want to avoid in the year ahead? What feelings are you going to create in the new year? Is there anything you want to do differently in the next 12 months? Looking towards a new year makes me think of all the spiritual powers that will be needed. It's important to feel powerful within myself. I also want to pay attention to being kind in interactions with others. Kindness takes strength. Love is a power.

Good evening and welcome soul to soul.
This is Rose from Brahma Kumaris in Glasgow and we're going to look at Here We Go Again and what are your aims for 2021 and what do you want to avoid in this year ahead?
What feelings are you going to create in the new year?
Because it's not just make a resolution like we used to do and that's it,
We forget it whenever,
I would be very surprised if anybody remembers our resolutions or really follows them through because you cannot really follow them through unless you look at the new and get rid of the old.
So what are you going to avoid in the year ahead?
You have to remind yourself throughout the year that you have changed it to a different track.
What feelings are you going to create in the new year?
New feelings,
New year,
That's for a year not just right now for one day.
Is there anything you want to do differently in the next 12 months?
Like what you really really what your hearts desire?
So if you look towards a new year it can make you think of all the spiritual powers that will be needed.
So we need strength,
Tolerance,
We need love,
We need so many different feelings that we don't use in everyday life.
We have to look at them,
Create them,
Put them in.
It's important to feel powerful within myself,
Within my own self.
I also want to pay attention to belong and be kind in interaction with others and kindness takes strength and love is a power.
It's not just an emotion,
Love is a power.
Meditation builds connection with the best of yourself.
Shows me what's in me,
What's possible.
If I forget to check in with myself then situations will trigger of old patterns and silly little things will seem like big tests and problems.
So stay close to your true self,
Get to know your highest qualities that are inside you because they're there.
You have beautiful qualities inside but they've been recorded over so dramatically.
We think we don't have them anymore but they're there.
So let's think how to welcome the new year and see how you can make new choices,
Thoughts are a choice and let me see and make a decision that I won't repeat the same mistakes over and over.
Let me be determined on that,
I'm not going to go down there again.
Stay light-hearted and don't keep the chant of oh well here we go again.
I will recognise patterns and I'll choose a better way,
A higher ground,
I'll choose it different.
Let me feel the freedom of the decision-making process because this invisible success brings a feeling of happiness and inner strength,
Inner power.
So let's keep the self open to the possibilities of a better way of thinking.
It's ourselves that think and there is a better way.
If I look at natural self-improvement will stop you from feeling that you are struggling and life also won't feel as difficult or monotonous and then instead of feeling sad saying oh gosh here we go again.
You might look forward to each new year and month and week.
How is all this going to happen?
Sounds wonderful but don't let it go in one ear and out the other because it's meditation that keeps your inner sparkle bright.
Natural conversations with the one above keep pointing the way to the higher self.
Choose to record over old useless thought patterns like oh gosh here oh gosh I'm so fed up,
I don't know what to do.
You do,
You have high qualities inside the self.
The pathway of happiness is not hard but I do just like on a path when I'm looking for the road,
The way to go,
I do need to follow the signs.
The signs are usually when I start feel a bit disheartened or fed up with the self or with others.
Don't go there.
There's a secret in the play of life.
What is that secret?
The word secret is quite.

You wonder what that secret is.
It's see good hidden or disguised in every moment because it is there.
Be careful about what you absorb and choose.
Choose the positive qualities that you see in others.
So choose these positive qualities rather than see the faults or other things.
Everyone makes mistakes but for yourself,
I mean we make mistakes so how can we look at others who are making mistakes?
For yourself be smart and don't repeat the same mistakes.
So these are all our resolutions for the coming year.
Change our attitude and don't keep making a list of other people's weaknesses because remember I'll have the same weaknesses so how can I blame others for that which I find tricky?
And myself I don't even notice it maybe.
Teach myself to see what I want to change in myself.
Make a list of things you need to remember for self-improvement and that way you can help others because deep within our natural nature is peace.
So deep within there is always peace.
This is in everyone that I meet no matter how aggressive,
How difficult,
How tricky.
But first of all I have to really focus on myself.
I can't make resolutions for other people but I can make new year resolutions for how I'm going to be with other people,
How I'm going to treat other people,
How I'm going to see other people,
How I'm going to trust other people and I can only do that when I do all these things through meditation and steadiness and stability for myself.
Now when I start to do this for myself I can then put a full stop to say don't go there.
Remember there's always good in others.
There's good in you and there's good in others so there's a secret in the play of life to see the good hidden and disguised in every moment to see the qualities in others.
Everyone makes mistakes but don't repeat the same mistakes.
Change your attitude and don't keep looking at other people's weaknesses.

I'm sure everyone can relate to the feeling of oh here we go again and feeling that the same kind of problems or issues come up over and over again and it makes sense just to keep the focus on what I can do like you were saying I can choose my thoughts,
I can make resolutions,
I can stay light-hearted.
So why do you think meditation is so vital in that process?
Why can I not just think positive?
What is meditation and why is it vital?
Well for meditation first of all I have to become,
I have to give myself time to be quiet and peaceful and to be quiet and peaceful allows my natural strength to come back into the soul because I'm sitting in stillness and silence whereas if I wasn't meditating I'd be rushing around saying this,
Saying that on the phone and gossiping and upset and crying and tired and fed up and working and overworking.
So when I take time out to be that still person and gradually I get a hold on my thoughts.
It might not just happen overnight but I'm still coming away from the daily activities I would have been doing.
So I'm beginning the process of making a space in life for myself to come out of the chaos into the stillness and gradually the stillness and the silence can develop.
I'm allowing it now to develop and as it develops my power increases and when my power increases I have the strength to become more positive and to not focus too much on the negativity of others and therefore I become a good support and a good friend for others.
Okay.
Again so much of what you were saying seems just like common sense and ancient wisdom that if I want to get anywhere I need to know where I'm going so you spoke about having an aim for the year ahead.
Do you think that's very unique to the individual like your own aim is kind of just you have to craft that for yourself or do you think you can pick up somebody else's and say oh I think I'd quite like to go for what they've got?
Well you can be inspired by what you see what others have got if they're meditators or peaceful people you might want a wee taste of that but the important thing is what your character is and you're never going to really find out what you're like until you make space to develop that inner power inner peace and you might be amazed at the qualities you have and how amazingly unique you actually are and that brings out what we might call creativity and we can thrive it's like a plant being given all the good things that you give a plant to make it grow and so you can really think gosh I feel so different because you're not so bored and you're really quite becoming quite pleased with yourself in a quiet way.
Okay I mean boredom is something everyone can relate to and you mentioned the word fed up so being bored being fed up what do you think are the root causes of that of boredom and fed upness and what are the methods to put that?
Well you can get bored when there's nothing new happening really and you feel you've got nothing to do and life is the same old same old and you're not shining so bright and no one's paying attention to you're not getting the attention you like and you feel that you're maybe pretty useless in some ways you want to prove yourself through over action and so yeah you just make yourself feel that you're worthwhile you're doing things that are worthwhile that you're getting to know yourself and that refreshes you.
You spoke last time about even there were periods in your life where there wasn't really any external attention there were very moments and quite extended periods where for different reasons there was sort of isolation in a sense and so how did you not get bored what did you put in place to have that feeling of newness every day and never to feel fed up and oh here we go again because it's like when no one's watching it I was like this definition of integrity is doing the right thing even when no one's watching.
Well I think I found that meditation triggered off creativity in me but I wasn't very good at it so it's not like you go in and here's the big wow factor if it had been the big wow factor maybe we'd have got bored with that after a while but it kept me like pulled along by I could do that a little bit better let me see how maybe I could do this maybe maybe I could do this a little bit better so there was an inner creativity but there was also other things like I found I enjoyed the stillness inside and I loved the thought that I might be able to help others yeah so okay What about if I do repeat the same mistake how do I get up again from that and not feel very very disappointed with myself or disheartened you know if anyone experiences that.
I think it's good to know that you can just get up and start keep going don't stay down there just say oh well okay so I made a mistake but I'm back up and running again and that actually lifts up your spirits like and funnily enough when you're up and running again you seem to have a new energy and a new focus and a kind of new determination to not fall down there again so you learn from falling over but the secret is don't stay down there get up and get going okay so I think we'll have some meditation I'm chanting so being aware that we are this thinking beautiful positive energy the soul in the center of the forehead I am the soul this beautiful being of light and to look towards a new year and think of all the spiritual powers that will be needed I want to pay attention to being kind in interaction with others and it takes strength to be kind love is a power so I have to check with myself and look at situations that will trigger off old patterns stay close to the true self get to know your highest qualities that are within you and also to keep that connection with the one above and keep pointing the way to your higher self and choose to record over old useless thought patterns the pathway of happiness is not hard but I need to follow the signs and the secret is to see good in others and don't repeat the same mistakes remember you're a soul and whoever is in front of you is also a soul and that a soul is a being of peace a beautiful eternal energy and love and sweetness are in the soul I am a soul a point of living light a child of the divine Om Shanti.

There is so much love and kindness in this.. it is like sitting with a good friend. I can hear Rose smiling.. I keep coming back to this..makes such good sense and it's a lovely listen as I go about my day x
