Why do we ask you to practice having your eyes open?
So the answer to that one is,
Because it's good to stay aware of your energy as much and as long as you possibly can throughout the day,
And you can't go about with your eyes shut.
You'd have some problems if you went about with your eyes closed.
So we keep our eyes open,
We practice that in meditation,
And we say that it's good to focus in the centre of the forehead,
Our own forehead,
And also you could look at the forehead of someone else,
If they're in front of you or whatever.
So why would we say that?
Because your energy is in the centre of your forehead.
We think,
Where do we think our energy,
I don't think we ever thought where our energy actually was.
This cascades throughout the whole body,
But it's centred in the centre of the forehead,
The energy of a point of light,
Which is the soul.
So why do we want to focus on this energy?
Because we've forgotten we were energy.
We think everything else is the wonder,
Everything else is what I focus on.
It's good to do other things,
We think,
Oh I like to do exercise,
That keeps me healthy.
And yes it will.
But where do we get the energy to do exercise from here,
The centre of the forehead?
We practice to be peaceful,
Why do we practice to be peaceful?
Because peace is the foundation of this energy here,
And the foundation of peace helps me to calm everything down and to be able to think clearly.
So why,
Why do we practice being peaceful and want to know more about Raja Yoga meditation?
All the secrets for ourselves that we ever wish to know are here,
In the centre of our forehead.
The soul is ever present.
If the soul disappeared,
We would go away somewhere else,
We would leave our body and take another body.
Wherever the soul goes,
The soul is us,
We go.
If the soul leaves,
We've left,
We've left along with the soul.
The soul is the life energy of a physical body,
And that life energy never ever changes.
It's steady,
It's powerful,
It's silent,
It's unshakable,
It never dances or moves,
It's totally still in the centre of our forehead.
So all the qualities of love and happiness and peace and joy and courage,
Determination are all in the soul.
So how come we have to learn to bring those energies back into our awareness?
So the reason for that is that all the other energies that we collect during our everyday existence come in front of our original eternal energy.
So I have to practice becoming steady and peaceful and thinking of my original nature,
Peace,
Happiness,
Love,
Courage,
Determination,
Strength,
Light-heartedness.
All the beautiful qualities I have to remember and bring back into my consciousness,
My daily things like,
I didn't like this,
I didn't like that,
I'm a bit fed up,
I'm a bit tired,
I don't feel well,
They come very easily and they cover up this steady energy which is always with me because it's me,
It's always me.
I am the soul.
So this is soul consciousness.
So unless I practice bringing that consciousness of who I really am back to myself,
It won't come back to myself,
I'll stay upset,
Annoyed,
Tired,
Unwell,
Fed up,
Etc,
Etc,
I'll stay like that.
I have to make effort to bring my original nature to the front and a good time to do that is to have some meditation.
And when I'm having meditation to do my best to focus on the real me,
The real genuine me of steady,
Calm,
Peaceful,
Silent,
Powerful,
Strong,
Courageous,
Determined,
Loving,
Kind,
All the beautiful energies,
If I practice thinking of these,
And then I may want to keep thinking of these throughout the day if I have a space.
Every time I think of these powerful energies that are really my nature,
My real original nature,
It will get stronger.
Throughout the day,
All the other energies like problems and things that come,
We feel helpless,
What to say,
Don't know what to do here,
I feel disempowered,
Confused,
What's this,
I don't know what this is,
This comes during the day,
Almost the entire day.
So the more I make a space for meditation and for thinking about my original nature,
The more it will come to me throughout the day.
I can still be doing whatever I have to do,
Doing my work,
In fact I would do things more successfully and better and with more strength and with a lightness and a happiness and it would make me friendlier,
Easier to be with for other people as well.
And I would never be challenging anyone else,
Most people we all challenge each other that we can do it better,
Or I know this and I know that.
So meditation is to remember your real,
Powerful,
Beautiful nature is always there in the center of your forehead,
It travels with you wherever you go and it never changes.
It gets covered and then I get carried away by the covering and I think I am very angry,
I am very upset,
I identify with these negative energies,
But they're like a cover energy,
They're not my real nature.
Here we're saying the essential first step on the path of Raja Yoga is to realize who,
What and what I am.
I'm the one who sees through these eyes,
Hears through these ears,
I'm the one who directs this body to move and I can observe the results of my actions.
I have awareness,
My body doesn't have awareness,
Body's made of matter.
The body is mine,
My body and I are separate entities or energies,
Separate.
I'm not this face,
I'm not my name,
I'm not made up of matter,
This body is not me,
But rather I perform actions and have experiences through this body.
I am a spiritual being and my real form is the form of light,
Of pure energy who thinks and knows and feels detached from this physical body and I can have the experience of stillness and silence and peace when I remember my original nature.
The point which is eternal,
The point which is infinitesimal,
The point which is light and life.
In the center of the forehead I,
The point,
Live and from this vantage point I take care of this physical body of mine.
I am responsible,
I am responsible for myself,
I am also responsible for this body.
I,
The point of light,
Responsible for myself,
Need to give myself the things that I am made up of.
Within I,
The point,
Is peace,
Within I,
The point,
Is love,
I,
The point,
Am the embodiment of peace,
Of love,
Of purity,
Of joy.
I,
The point of light,
Am truth,
That which is eternal,
That which has a connection with the eternal being,
Is that which is true.
There's a role to be played on the world stage and the stage and the drama and the role are important but most important of all is the point.
I learn to take off my physical costume and just stay in the awareness of the point and radiate the original qualities that are within the point.
Everything I am is here within the point.
Om Shanti.
