A guided intro and outro with 20 minutes of silence for those who have already learned Vedic Meditation and would like to be led in and out of their practice. It begins with some brief reminders of how to approach the practice. There is a bell at 20 minutes, some closing words and another bell at 22 minutes.

Get comfortable and make sure your back is supported but your head and neck are free.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and sigh it all out.

Before starting to think the mantra it's good to sit in silence for a few moments to allow the first wave of thoughts to pass.

When we close our eyes naturally we feel some stillness,

Some silence and into this silence thoughts will naturally appear effortlessly and spontaneously.

When you're ready to start see if you can think the mantra as effortlessly as you do any other thought and when you find yourself thinking gently bring yourself back to the mantra with as little fuss as possible.

Drop any expectations and take it as it comes.

You'll get the experience you need not necessarily the one you want and if you start to forget the mantra don't try and hold on just let it go.

I'll let you know when the time is up.

Jai Gurudev Okay stop thinking the mantra but keep your eyes closed.

By being gentle with ourselves in meditation when we find we're off the mantra we develop resilience.

We learn what is in our control,

Our intentions and reactions and what isn't.

We don't control our experience in meditation like we don't control the weather or the traffic.

By being easy and effortless with the mantra and not minding what experience we get we'll have a much nicer time with our meditations.

A great meditator isn't someone who gets any particular results when they close their eyes it's simply someone who meditates day after day regardless of what they experience.

You don't always need to feel like doing it and you don't always need to enjoy it.

It's about the effects it's having outside of meditation not just in the 20 minutes.

We don't meditate to get good at meditation we meditate to get good at life.

Keep your eyes closed for a few more moments there will be a bell to let you know when to finish.

Jai Gurudev you

Simple meditation. Therein lies its power. I try to do this mediation at least once/day.

Thank you for the reminder that "we don't meditate to get good at meditation; we meditate to get good at life." It was so challenging for me to trust that, after 20 min. of silence, you really would indicate when the time was up. I peeked at my phone 6 min before the track ended... Next time, I promise not to peek! I did gently come back to the mantra every time my mind filled with thoughts. I'm getting better at that - especially doing so without judgment. Hopefully my mind will learn to withhold judgment in life, too. I'll keep practicing.

Thank you! Just what I’ve been needing to step down from full guided meditations back to straight vedic meditation. Appreciate your giving just the right amount of structure to the session while leaving the rest up to me.

Hi Rory! I think you are a Shri Shri Ravishankar follower. I was wondering if you are allowed to make a course on Sudarshan kriya. I have done the course already but I want to do it at home. Guided meditation works for me than counting Soham by myself. I couldn't find the recorded voice of Shri anywhere.. maybe you can make a course on that .. thanks

After meditating for nearly 2 months I found this meditation. I’m just using “so hum” and with your brief but insightful intro and outro it works well. I’m certainly meditating to get good at life, thankyou 🙏 Ps would be interested which mantras you would recommend.
