Hello,

This is Robin Tucker.

So often in life we prioritize everything else before getting rest.

So if you've clicked on this meditation,

That means you're giving yourself some rest.

Well done.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

Allow yourself to slowly begin to arrive here and now in this moment where all is well.

As you continue to breathe,

Allow your heart rate to slowly lower.

As you continue to breathe,

Gently turn your awareness to your body and mind.

When we're rushing around,

It's so easy to lose touch with what's going on inside of us.

Note the thoughts you are thinking,

The ways you are feeling.

Every thought and every emotion is valid,

So allow it to be as it is.

Perhaps there are tests you are worried about,

Teachers who are stressing you,

Social obligations on your mind,

Friends to think about.

Whatever is in your experience,

Allow it to be.

You might even see it going well for yourself.

Imagine what it would look like if these stressful events worked out in a way that truly benefited you.

If there is something that is so frightening that it seems to be hijacking your mind,

You don't have to try and change it.

Notice where this fright lives in your body,

In your stomach,

Your neck,

Maybe your shoulders.

Wherever it is,

Gently notice it and allow it to be.

With whatever part of your mind you can,

Acknowledge that you are willing for this situation to work out in a way that benefits you,

Even if that doesn't seem possible right now.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Now imagine you are holding a string and at the end of a string is a balloon.

With every inhale,

Gather thoughts and stresses that no longer serve you.

With every exhale,

Blow them into the balloon.

See it getting fuller and fuller as you release these thoughts,

Stresses,

Worries,

Tasks.

When the balloon is nice and full,

Let go of the string.

Watch as your balloon floats up into the atmosphere,

Getting smaller and smaller until it disappears.

Now take a moment to think about yourself.

You have a lot to handle and you are doing a wonderful job.

You are handling everything that life is throwing at you in your own wonderful way.

Perhaps there are things you wish you would handle differently.

That is okay.

Every experience we have is a learning experience for us.

If you look at it that way,

Maybe it doesn't seem like you made a mistake.

Bless those events with love and let them go.

They are over now and you are here,

Meditating and giving yourself some much deserved rest.

Take a moment to acknowledge that you are enough.

You are enough for every school,

Every teacher,

Every friend,

Every social situation,

Every new experience,

Every challenge and every test.

You are a wonderful person and there is no one else like you.

So please be kind to yourself as you learn and grow.

As you take a few last deep breaths,

Gently begin to turn your awareness back to the space around you,

To the way your body feels,

To the way your mind feels,

The temperature in the room,

Sounds.

Thank you for taking this time to rest.

Take these ideas and feelings out into your life and know that this place,

This calm and this meditation are always here waiting for you.

I'll see you soon.

As the music finishes,

Know that all is well and you are very,

Very safe.

My son is about to set off as a freshman at college- having lived thru so many abrupt changes his senior year there are many more in store including an increased pressure on students to accomplish all the traditional elements of college online with mainly virtual communities which can not replicate human connection. Reflecting on what he can control is our theme and I’m going to share this piece with him this week as we pack him up to prepare for a two week quarantine at his beautiful new campus. Ty for helping us with this transition. Always an emotional (and happy) time made all the more complex in 2020.
