Meditation,

Surrender to rest.

Close your eyes.

And from a seated position,

Press both feet into the ground.

Drop your shoulders.

Loosen your jaw.

Place both hands on your lap,

Palms face up.

Allow the body to rest.

Allow the body to surrender to rest.

Bring your attention to your breath.

Inhale into the body.

Exhale and release.

Inhale rest and exhale tension.

Inhale and surrender to rest.

Exhale and let everything go.

Allow your breath to rest and be steady.

Allow your breath to surrender to rest.

And now welcome the mind to rest.

As you open the door to your imagination,

See the word rest,

R-E-S-T,

Inside the mind.

With your inhale and exhale,

Allow the mind to rest.

Your mind is resting.

Your mind surrenders to rest.

You are comfortable.

You are relaxed.

You are at rest.

You are alone and looking forward to enjoying some much needed rest.

Before you completely close your eyes and shut the world out,

You peek up at your clock on the wall.

Instead of seeing numbers and dials on the clock,

You see three words,

Surrender to rest.

Once you place these three words into the mind and heart and let them settle in these spaces,

You close your eyes and imagine what it means to surrender to rest.

You first turn to the body and notice that it wants to toss and turn in different directions,

Wants to find the perfect resting position.

Quietly,

You tell the body to surrender.

Quietly,

You tell the body to slow down.

Quietly,

You tell the body to relax.

Gradually,

The body hears your words and accepts the invitation to surrender,

Slow down,

And relax.

Your body is at rest.

Next,

You focus on your breath.

You notice that your breathing does not have your full attention,

And this causes it to feel ignored and out of sorts.

Quietly,

You tell the breath to surrender.

Quietly,

You tell the breath to slow down.

Quietly,

You tell the breath to relax.

Gradually,

The breath hears your words and accepts the invitation to surrender,

Slow down,

And rest.

You realize there's one more place to visit and find rest.

It is your mind.

You notice the mind wants to toss and turn in different directions.

It seems out of control,

Racing ahead of itself and lost in a state of distraction and worry.

The distractions of the world seem like it's difficult for the mind to switch off and rest.

Most days,

You are so consumed with planning,

Worrying,

Organizing,

And controlling that you forget to step back and let things go.

Sometimes,

You become so focused on the thought of resting that it causes stress and discomfort instead of rest and relaxing.

Quietly,

You tell the mind to surrender.

Quietly,

You tell the mind to slow down.

Quietly,

You tell the mind to relax.

Gradually,

The mind hears your words and accepts the invitation to surrender,

Slow down,

And relax.

Your mind is at rest.

The space around you is still.

The space around you is quiet.

The space around you is relaxing.

The body has surrendered to rest.

The breath has surrendered to rest.

The mind has surrendered to rest.

Slide the body down and allow yourself to lie and be still and relax and rest.

As you fully surrender to rest,

Let yourself go.

Keep the eyes closed and rest and relax and rest.

And relax and relax and relax as well.
