Hello and welcome to this short meditative practice.

Today we will be practicing a breathing exercise called One Nostril Breathing.

This is incredibly helpful for relaxing your nervous system,

Calming yourself down,

And it can also be really helpful to practice before bed if you're feeling wound up and just want to release some tension from your mind and from your body as well.

Begin by finding a comfortable position,

Whether that is seated or standing or lying back on your bed.

Just really coming into your body,

Coming into the present moment.

To begin our breathing exercise,

I invite you to take your right hand and using your right thumb,

Simply cover your right nostril.

This will allow you to inhale now through your left nostril only,

In for a very deep breath,

And when you're ready,

Exhale fully and completely all the way out through your left nostril.

Again,

Repeating this on your own time,

Keeping your right nostril blocked,

Inhale through your left nostril as deeply as you can.

And when you're ready,

Simply exhale,

Allowing all of the air to release from your left nostril.

Repeating this on your own time,

Counting in as you inhale,

And counting out as you exhale.

The inhale should be the same length as the exhale,

So if you are breathing in for a count of 10,

Just make sure that you are breathing out for a count of 10.

The longer you're able to make your inhales and exhales,

The more calm and relaxing you will find this exercise.

Repeat several more times,

Keeping the right nostril blocked,

And feel your body relax,

Feel your nervous system become more calm.

And as you finish your last inhale and exhale,

Simply release your right thumb from your right nostril.

Take a nice inhale through both nostrils now,

As deep as you can.

And then exhale fully through your both nostrils.

I hope you are feeling more calm and grounded.

This exercise is something I find very helpful,

Very grounding.

It stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system,

Which helps you to relax and feel more rested.

Thank you for joining me for this short breathing exercise.

I'm wishing you a beautiful,

Calm,

Grounded rest of your day.
