Welcome to this inner child meditation.
Take a moment and get yourself comfortable.
This practice is best done with your eyes closed.
Now draw your attention to your breath.
Become deliberate with inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
While you become present with your breathing,
You get comfortable and make any other adjustments you need to.
I'm going to introduce you to today's meditation.
I will guide you to meet up with your inner child.
This will take about five minutes.
Once you have met up with your inner child,
They will guide you for the remainder of their meditation.
I will be silent.
Only the background music will be heard.
This will last for ten minutes.
Your inner child will take you where they want to take you.
To a moment that had impact on them.
Allow them to remind you of any moment from your past.
However insignificant you might think it was,
It wasn't.
Refrain from judgment.
Experience what your inner child wants you to experience.
Feel what they want you to feel.
Then from the present and mindful state you are in,
You will have a moment to help your inner child understand that experience and to process that experience.
To validate that experience.
After the ten minutes,
A soft bell will sound.
If you are not finished,
That's okay.
Continue your practice until you are.
Let's begin.
Close your eyes.
And take a breath in.
Two.
Three.
Four.
And let it out.
Two.
Three.
Four.
One more time.
In.
Two.
Three.
Four.
And out.
Two.
Three.
Four.
And out.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Now breathe naturally.
And imagine yourself walking down a familiar flight of stairs.
Take each step slowly.
With each step,
You get closer to the bottom,
Where a hallway is.
You're almost to the bottom.
Two more steps.
One.
You pause at the bottom of the stairs.
The hallway extends a little ways out in front of you.
And at the end of this hallway is an open door.
The light is too bright to see what's beyond the door.
You start walking down the hall towards the light.
Along the hallway,
On the walls,
Are images and snippets of good moments from your past.
You don't linger on any one image or moment.
You keep walking.
But this does give you a sense and a feeling of comfort and nostalgia.
You feel safe.
And you feel curious about what is through the door.
You approach.
And as you step through the doorway into the light,
You find yourself on a familiar street.
That's the street you grew up on.
The buildings and houses are familiar as you pass by them until you stop in front of your childhood home.
No matter what happened during your time here,
Something about seeing it now feels comforting.
You feel anticipation as the door opens.
It slowly opens.
And a child steps out.
It's you.
And you're smiling.
This is your inner child.
And they recognize you.
They call you over.
And as you reach out to grab their hand,
You feel ready to listen to them with an open mind and an open heart.
As they take your hand,
They take control for the rest of this meditation.
So be it here still.
