This guided meditation and breathing practice was offered by Renée Seals for Somatic Space.
Somatic Space is a weekly embodied astrology class where we practice attuning through our bodies with current astrological influences.
For this meditation please find yourself in a comfortable position where you can breathe easily.
Let's find a way to tune in with ourselves and so for me that's going to be closing my eyes.
For you it might be something else.
You might want to turn away from the screen.
Let's in our own ways bring our attention inwards.
We can employ any movement or posture or gesture that can help us do that.
So if it helps to touch your own body,
If it helps to move your body,
Notice how you arrive.
Let's take a few intentional breaths together and as we breathe in,
Ask our awareness and mind to be present in our breaths.
How do you invite your mind,
Your consciousness,
Your attention to be with you right now?
There might even be a deeper question in that around what does that mean?
What aspects of yourself are you with?
Let your mind travel underneath the surface and seek to sense,
Ask to feel any parts of you that are trying to emerge.
We're in Aries season right at the end of it and sprouts are sometimes a symbol for Aries energy.
What is trying to emerge?
What is trying to come through?
And these new parts of self most likely are in a conversation,
Part of creation and emerging from what has been here before.
But emergence often lets us know that it's here through the force and the passion or instincts and impulses that seek pleasure,
That seek a sense of,
Oh yes,
I want that.
And that can also be aversion,
No,
I don't want that.
I don't want that anymore.
So allow yourself to also tune in and sense in with the deep instincts and impulses in your body,
Being and mind,
Relationships,
Emotions,
Your experience of the world right now.
What new feelings,
New ways of being?
Are trying to come through right now.
They might be here as small sprouts,
Fresh and recently realized.
They might be here still a little bit underneath the surface layers.
And then without thinking about it too much,
Allow your body to make a shape.
And this is just one gesture.
This is just an offering right now.
What's the shape of what's trying to come through?
We'll give ourselves several breaths to feel into this shape.
And if you've arrived in the shape,
If it's ready to be a shape and it can keep moving as well,
Begin to tune in now with the poetry of the shape,
Symbolism of the shape.
What do you see and sense in this shape?
What is being revealed to you?
And as you sense the poetry of the shape,
Feel also for the passion of the shape,
The yes and the no in the shape.
What is being affirmed,
Brought into life through your yes,
Fortified,
Strengthened and rooted through the no.
And if yes and no aren't the right words for you,
That's easy to let go of.
You might feel directionality,
Moving towards,
Sourcing from.
And let these thoughts and feelings and images and the shape really take up space for the next breath or two,
Breathing into it fully,
Letting your body register this information.
And then as you're ready,
Let it go,
Stretch out and wiggle out.
And then I want to invite us to write a collection of poems.
A collective poem.
One line that just came through for you,
This symbol,
In the symbol,
In the shape,
Sensation,
Can be personal,
Impersonal,
Deeply symbolic,
Poetic,
Totally practical.
We'll give this a few minutes.
And if you've already written your line,
I invite you to be tender with the symbol,
The sensation alive in your consciousness.
And in tenderness,
There's some tending,
You might hold a part of your body that resonates with this feeling.
So if your eyes have been closed,
Allow your eyes to open.
And now start to take in your space.
Look around and orient.
See where you are.
Look down at your own body.
See your own hands,
See your belly.
Maybe see your feet.
And keeping your eyes open,
Though,
I don't want to look at the screen,
So I'm going to turn my body.
Keeping your eyes open,
Let's see if we can maintain awareness of the inner body.
Maybe maintain some sense of breath moving up through the center.
Maintain some sense of awareness of the body.
Energy and life force flowing out and expanding into the space where we are.
So with your eyes open now,
Become really aware of light and sight entering your eyes.
Can you be in your felt sense?
Can you be in the place where visual information comes into your brain?
Let your attention move to your ears.
And notice the sensation and the place where sound,
Auditory information enters your brain.
And let's see if you can sense through your body and notice that you can feel.
You can feel qualities in your inner body.
You can feel sensations through your skin,
Your outer body.
And see if you can just let your attention be in the fact of your feeling.
Now,
We'll drop a question into this space.
And the question that we'll ask ourselves is,
Who is feeling?
Who is seeing?
Who is hearing?
What do you notice when you reach towards the who?
Who is perceiving right now?
Bring your noticing to the feeling of life that is present in your body.
And let's say affirm to yourself that you exist right now.
And offer gratitude for your own existence.
And let's send the gratitude first to our highest selves,
To the spirit that moves through us.
Thanking that energy for arriving in this form.
And for being so brilliant and creative and adaptive.
Let's send breaths of gratitude to all who have come before.
The many teachers,
Guides,
Guardians,
Ancestors,
And helping ones.
The ones that we do not know their names,
Where they came from,
What they felt and experienced.
And yet we have been created from and with and by them.
To the many beings beyond the human realms that we are part of.
And sending gratitude to each other and our many circles of belonging.
We are emerging together.
It is because of each other that we are able to come into consciousness in so many ways.
Sending breath into our siblingness,
The width of our belonging.
And then sending a breath of gratitude to this week and all that is coming next in the next days,
In the next months,
In the next years,
In the next unknown amounts of time.
And reminding ourselves that everything that is happening is one moment,
One instance in much bigger stories and longer arcs.
And we pray to our highest selves,
Guides,
Guardians,
Ancestors,
Helping and healing spirits that we may be in service to creation and its bounty,
Its beauty.
It's a vast and wide creative force in ways that are truly beneficial.
