The first chakra is called the root,

Or sometimes it's called the base chakra.

The color is red,

Like the first color in the visible spectrum of a rainbow,

And each chakra color follows that order because that is the color frequency that they resonate with.

This chakra is located at the groin level,

And it points down from the body to around the knees.

Being red,

This chakra can receive energy from wearing red clothing or eating red foods such as beets,

Especially those because they're grown underground,

Or red berries,

Tomatoes,

Red peppers,

And red apples,

Just for examples.

The two-word phrase I'm going to teach you to help you remember this chakra is,

I need.

This is because this chakra is about the basic needs for life.

Food,

Water,

Sleep,

Safety,

And the will to live.

This chakra is concerned with those,

And it isn't about spiritual things,

Because if these basic needs are not fulfilled,

One cannot be focused on something like meditation.

The body's elimination system is governed energetically by this chakra,

Which makes sense because it's also a basic need for life to be able to poop and pee.

It's super important to be able to feel safe.

People with PTSD or trauma or who suffer from depression could benefit greatly from practices that help affirm their safety in the present,

And healing practices that directly relate to being present,

Such as grounding and mindfulness,

Really help with these symptoms.

Self-care practices for the body,

Such as drinking enough water,

Prioritizing healthy sleep,

Eating right,

And getting exercise,

Are also great for this chakra.

The tool I'm going to teach you is for helping to anchor in a sense of safety.

You can do this any time,

And it will help balance this chakra.

For this tool,

We're going to be thinking about safety,

And not just about safety like lock the door.

I'm talking about the feeling that you're safe,

The feeling of being well and safe.

This is a really important thing because not feeling safe feels anxious.

It brings up fear,

And that is really a big deal.

But look around.

Here you are at this moment.

You are perfectly safe.

You are fine.

So I want you to touch that.

I want you to feel that.

And let yourself come to the place where,

Yes,

You reassure yourself,

I am safe.

Experience the feeling of safety.

How does it feel to be safe?

Probably calm,

Relaxed,

And at peace,

Like everything's okay.

I want you to get to that place.

Take a few minutes to sink into the feeling of safety right now.

At this moment,

Nothing needs to be done.

Everything is fine.

I am safe.

That's your job today.

Come back to that feeling of safety several times during the day.

Bring your mind back to it,

Especially when you start to feel anxious or concerned or your thoughts are spinning and you're not having a pleasant time.

Stop and look around.

Check yourself.

You're safe.

Remind yourself,

I'm safe.

And then connect with that feeling again.

Return to that feeling.

Remember how it feels as you bring again to mind the feeling of being safe.

This tool involves not only telling yourself that you're safe,

It involves actually feeling safe and then returning to that knowing and that feeling of being safe at various times during the day to anchor the nervous system to that feeling of safety to help release and deflect stress.
