The tool I'm going to teach you involves simply asking your mind the question,
What's good?
It takes just a moment,
But it redirects your focus to finding the positive.
It challenges your mind to generate answers.
And as that happens,
You begin to feel uplifted.
I know it sounds almost ridiculously simple,
But I can tell you that this minuscule practice is a game changer.
Did you know that we can't feel positive and negative emotions at the same time?
For example,
It's impossible to feel angry and grateful at the same time.
Asking the two-word question,
What's good,
Refocuses your mind,
Which activates the neural networks related to gratitude,
Making it impossible to maintain an unhappy state.
This tool is also effortless to implement anytime,
Anywhere,
Standing in line,
Sitting in a waiting room,
Walking down the street,
Driving.
Just ask yourself,
What's good right now?
And make your mind give you three different answers or more.
Your mind will take the challenge and immediately get busy starting to notice things to appreciate.
And this becomes a self-fulfilling practice.
Answering the question actually invokes positive emotions.
These are things that are good for you,
That you feel good about.
They can be about this moment,
Your life,
Or the world.
It doesn't matter if it's big or small.
Even the taste of your coffee counts if you liked it.
Make what's good part of your mental toolkit.
Use it to shift your focus and uplift your mood whenever needed.
Aim for at least three grateful thoughts whenever you catch yourself feeling negative.
You do not have to write them down.
You just think of them.
This might be hard if you're in a bad mood.
But if your mind resists,
Just ask again,
Even insist.
It will,
At first maybe reluctantly,
Go find those good things to present to you.
And you'll start to notice yourself shifting to a more positive mood just by doing this simple activity.
Using the what's good tool will empower you to take control of your emotional state.
And it will give you the benefits that gratitude brings to your entire well-being.
You can create positivity,
Clarity,
And gratitude anytime just by asking yourself,
What's good?
And appreciating the gifts that are present all the time in your life and in your world.
Thank you for listening.
I hope this tool is helpful for you.
It really helps me.
I appreciate you.
