A common question that comes up often during an intuitive reading or one of my one-on-one session is what direction or what career should I orientate myself in order to fulfill my love's purpose or find more purpose in my life?
I think this is a common question that many of you may have and so today I want to share my perspective on what truly creates purpose and meaning in our lives because I feel like I've been at the same crossroad many times in my life.
I'm going to shed light on common myths about where to find purpose and offer keys to reconnection and finding your true path.
We invest a significant amount of time in our work and so it is perfectly understandable for us to yearn for that time to be meaningful and if you love your job or if your job is a vocation this discussion may not resonate so deeply.
Having said that though I wanted to address one common misconception before going further and this is particularly based on my conversations with individuals who are deeply passionate about their work.
This misconception is that even if you love your job it doesn't mean you love every aspect of it and I feel like this needed to be clarified first.
For example someone passionate about being a vet may not enjoy the late night or weekend on cool duties and similarly you may have a great satisfaction as an architect for example yet you may find a lot of challenges dealing with an unreliable boss and flaky boss.
So the key clarification here is that regardless of your chosen path,
Regardless of your chosen work,
It's unrealistic to expect to love every aspect of your job every day.
It's an illusion to believe in this perpetual state of happiness.
Every job or life situation no matter how fulfilling comes with its upsides and downsides and understanding this reality can bring a more balanced perspective to the quest for a more fulfilling job and help you manage expectations.
Another point I wanted to clarify here is that I find the pursuit of a life's purpose particularly for those on a spiritual quest can become a paradox.
So I don't know about you but I feel I'm bombarded with ads or programs that are all about find your life purpose find your life purpose and sometimes we can take this notion of finding our life's purpose too seriously.
Ironically this results in the opposite effect.
Instead of fostering clarity and meaning the absence of this clearly defined purpose can generate extra pressure,
Stress and a sense of inadequacy.
You may ask yourself why don't I have my purpose?
What's wrong with me?
Is my life gonna be ruined if I don't have a purpose?
And what it does is that this implies that you cannot be happy until you find that thing which actually is the first indication you have not been looking for it in the right place.
So if you find yourself in this category perhaps you have been negatively influenced by a truth that is not yours.
And here is my advice is to always drop into your own heart.
If a truth is not making you feel happy or expensive if it adds stress pressure to your life then let it go it's not yours.
And ironically here letting go of the pursuit of the perfect job or your life's purpose may actually lead you right to it.
Now having clarified these points it is important to recognize though that many people are feeling more and more disconnected from the workplace or from their jobs these days.
The constant pressure to achieve more with fewer staff,
Job uncertainties,
Office politics and the necessity to often conceal who you truly are or what you really think to adhere to these corporate etiquettes all contribute to this sense of disconnection.
And so if you feel like that about your job it is very normal to want to change paths or change the direction.
Yet for some of us it's not that we dislike our job we just genuinely feel that there is something more awaiting us.
Even if we are successful even if we earn a lot of money and if things are going well sometimes these questionings come from a real desire for more.
This inner urge inside that says there's something else that true quest for that deeper meaning.
This is exactly the position I found myself in.
I had dedicated years to completing extensive studies to become a doctor in pharmaceutical science diligently following the conventional path and securing a position in one of the top 10 largest pharmaceutical companies as it was considered a reputable choice at the time.
I was earning a decent salary things were easy and everything seemed to be going well without any specific problems.
But inside of me I had this growing feeling is this it?
Is this what I'm gonna do for the rest of my life?
And this was coming with this feeling of dread and emptiness that something really important was missing and I could just not pinpoint exactly what it was.
That initial wake-up call happened about 10 years ago and so at the time I went on a quest for answers and I thought this was a sign to explore other career avenues.
So I embarked on a journey to find that missing piece.
A journey that initially led me to stumble across a modality called kinesiology.
This modality enables us to access information deeply embedded within the subconscious mind through the use of muscle monitoring,
Allowing for the clearing of blocks and the restoration of the flow of energy in the body.
After the weekend initiation I just became hooked and I decided to study kinesiology.
I absolutely loved every minute of it.
It was so interesting and eye-opening and throughout this process I not only gained knowledge about this modality but also discovered a lot about myself.
And as I completed the studies I thought this is it.
I'm going to be a kinesiologist and help people and fulfill my life purpose of assisting others in clearing the blocks and releasing the past.
I felt like I had a clear direction about the next step ahead and at the time I thought that changing job would really solve that big void within me.
It was all exciting for the first few years.
I made a plan to gradually build up enough clients to completely let go of my corporate job.
But once the initial excitement wore off I found myself stuck again.
I was still chasing something.
I often found myself thinking when I will have enough clients then I will finally be happy or content or you know that deep sense of satisfaction.
And so without realizing that goal was actually keeping me stuck in chasing happiness and contentment in the future.
And also I still find myself thinking is kinesiology truly what I want to do with my life?
Do I see myself doing this for the rest of my life?
And yes it feels much much better even amazing at times but still why was this question still there?
And this is when the penny dropped and obviously I'm making it short today but this happened over a couple of months or years.
And this is the realization that it's not about what you do it's about how you do it.
So when you approach something whether it's a job,
A relationship,
Do you do it from a place of lack and fear thinking this is what will bring you closer to what you seek?
Which could be purpose,
Meaning,
Freedom or validation.
Or do you do it from a place of wholeness and inner connection?
And this is really the key ingredient to finding meaning and purpose in your life.
To my experience everything we do from a place of lack of emptiness will only provide us temporary satisfaction.
Because there will always be the next thing to chase.
And so these things that we chase only act like band-aids.
They actually don't address the deep-seated emotional needs that drive our behaviors.
The root of why we feel like this in the first place.
They don't address the big disconnect from how we feel within from who we truly are.
They don't address the fact that we have dissociated from our bodies,
From our hearts and are living our life from our heads.
From what we think the roadmap to success,
To happiness,
To money is.
Many of us think the feeling instead of feeling them.
We suppress or doubt our inner voice,
Our inner truth,
Our intuition,
The one that does not come with our roadmap.
And when you do things because this is how others are doing,
This is how I always did it,
This is what it expected of me.
You're not pushing down further this inner voice and compartmentalizing who you are.
The truth is we feel on purpose when we feel integrated,
Whole,
Fully expressed,
No longer holding back on who we are,
Able to share our truth and bringing this state of being in everything that we do.
But do not believe me here.
Experiment with this.
And perhaps start thinking about times where you felt truly connected,
Happy and on purpose.
What was different at the time?
We all have our own truths.
We are all very unique beings with a unique sensitivity,
A unique way to do things.
And everything that disconnects us from this truth will result in us not being connected to our purpose and meaning.
And here I want to make a point that there is no wonder why we look for happiness,
For that fulfillment in things outside of ourselves.
We have been conditioned to believe from a very young age that what creates happiness and fulfillment is to reach those milestones,
Having a family with preferably two kids,
Having this job with that big salary,
That beautiful car and that nice house.
And no wonder why people feel so disconnected when they finally reach those points.
You know,
It's like,
Well,
I have all these things right now,
Yet I still don't feel fully satisfied.
I still feel like something is missing.
This is really the moment,
Usually,
When people start questioning themselves and questioning their past.
Marketing actually largely plays on this void to manipulate us into believing that we need all those things to feel worthy,
Happy,
Content.
And marketing,
By the way,
Largely uses this void to manipulate us into believing that we need all these latest tools and gadgets and things to feel worthy,
Happy,
Confident.
I feel like since I've been working on myself and cultivating that inner voice within,
I'm actually less sensitive to needing external things.
I need way less things than before.
I'm much more content with what I have.
And I'm not saying here don't have those things,
But don't use them as a substitute for feeling this void within you.
But more like fun things to have or enhancers or just really playing with that.
And I hope you can sense the difference here.
So coming back to the initial question of how should I orientate my life career in order to be closer to my life's purpose?
Well,
Based on everything that I've shared so far,
My first advice is to pause this external quest for a moment and focus on reconnecting with yourself.
And I know,
Sorry,
That may not be exactly what you wanted to hear at that point,
Because it sounds like a lot of work maybe,
Or maybe you are scared about that inner journey.
But this is so crucial to go through so you can understand yourself at a deeper level.
Understanding what the chase is about,
What you're trying to avoid,
Why you have disconnected at the first place,
What triggers you.
Letting go of your past,
Of the wounds that are weighing heavily on your heart and reopen yourself to feel true joy and move through life from a different perspective,
From a different point of view.
And here,
When I talk about joy,
I'm not talking about excitement.
I'm not talking about thinking what joy feels like.
I'm talking about that true heartfelt joy.
Sometimes the rush of excitement can mimic this euphoria of joy,
Leading us to mistake one for the other.
But joy has a much more profound and lasting sense of happiness and is rooted in contentment,
Whether excitement is more fleeting and can be linked to external stimuli and events.
So what gives us purpose is this state of beingness that comes from having an open heart,
Feeling integrated,
Whole,
Centered,
Fully expressed,
No longer holding back on who we are and bringing this state of beingness in everything that we do.
This is clearly not a destination.
It's a life practice.
It really takes daily actions,
Commitment to nurture this inner connection.
I'm personally still on this path going deeper with finding alignment,
Letting go of limitation,
Of rules,
And doing things in a way that aligns with my deeper self.
And sometimes that means being really uncomfortable or needing to trust the past because choosing a different path sometimes comes with a lot of uncertainty.
And I need to work on that every day.
I have a strong mind and it's really easy for me to fall back in autopilot and disconnect,
Falling under the spell of my mind.
So to finish today though,
I wanted to give you practical steps you can do every day that will bring you closer to finding your true path.
Number one,
Set up a time every day to practice inner connection.
So what you do during this time is left up to you because someday it might be journaling,
Someday it might be a walk in nature,
Someday it may be just sitting in stillness.
But during that time,
This is really the moment also to check in.
How am I feeling right now?
And also connect with your heart.
Just notice what's on your heart that day.
Do I feel heavy?
Do I feel joyful?
And sometimes you don't have to try to change it.
It's just about practicing this reconnection with your true feelings.
So number two,
Ask yourself regularly throughout your day,
Why am I doing the things I am doing?
Is it based in fear or is it based on purpose?
And how does that feel in my body?
And here I think the challenge is to shift from a place of fear to a place of purpose.
Doing things because you feel deeply compelled to do them,
Not because if you don't do them something bad will happen.
And that will build up that muscle of doing things based on purpose.
And number three,
Follow your joy.
Do more of the things that you love doing.
Perhaps think about the things you love to do as a kid because often they are a clear indication of where your joy is.
The more you will follow your joy,
The more you will trust that inner voice within and stop doing things because you should do them or because this is how everyone else is doing it.
The closer you will come to really fine-tuning what is really important to you and at first the direction may not be very clear.
So you'll follow those breadcrumbs knowing that at some point the big picture will be revealed.
For me the guidance at the moment is to really do more of these talks and trust me that has not been an easy process.
I had to face a lot of resistance about it and I'm not really sure where this is gonna lead me but I can sense that the way I'm gonna practice in the future is gonna be very different from the way I used to see things until now.
And so it's not a journey about having it all figured out the first time.
It's about really following those threads,
Building up upon,
Getting the feedback and reorienting your life,
Your direction accordingly.
It's truly a process.
It doesn't happen from one day to the other.
And perhaps at first the things that bring you meaning is not necessarily gonna be the thing that makes you earn money.
And that's okay.
You know you can always find part-time way to do your job while pursuing this quest for something else.
But maybe in the long run something will come up and that will be it.
You will get that sense of I understand now why I had to go through all of this.
It's making complete sense.
It's because I had to learn all those lessons on the way that I would have never learned if the answers were handed over to me on a silver plate.
I trust this talk has provided you with a bit more clarity on uncovering your life's purpose.
The key takeaway is recognizing that the quest for purpose begins as an internal journey.
It sounds very cliche but it's really about following your heart,
Connecting to your whole body and allow it to be your organ of truth,
Directing you in the sense that brings you joy.
Each person's path is unique and you might find yourself at different stages.
For some the guidance could be in learning to appreciate what you have.
Others may embark on an inner work and reconnection journey to clarify what truly sparks the light within them.
And some might already feel deeply connected to their intuition and their guidance and their challenge may be about trusting it more.
Regardless of where you find yourself on this journey,
Remember our purpose is not solely about what sparks this light.
It's not what we do.
It is about who we become in the process.
It's not a relentless pursuit of goals but a journey towards wholeness and self-awareness.
I know there's way more to explore on this topic and I plan to cover this in future episodes.
If you have any questions,
Please share them with me.
Your input is invaluable and will guide future discussion and help me address areas I may not have covered yet.
Sending lots of love your way and remember wherever you are at on your journey,
You've got this.
