Hi,

Sylvie here and it's a pleasure to be guiding you through your Yin-Yang meditation today.

So the invitation is to find a nice comfortable space where the body can feel supported.

So whether that's laying down or seated upright,

I encourage you to find a position where the spine can be long,

Straight,

Allowing energy,

Prana,

To flow through the central channel of the body without constriction.

And taking a moment here to close your eyes or lower your gaze.

And taking a moment to notice what it feels like to be breathing.

The gentle rise and fall of the chest.

And go ahead and notice the weight of the body on the earth.

You can maybe even notice how gravity pulls you downwards,

Helping you feel supported,

Bringing in a grounding energy,

So a yin-like energy in this space and time.

And then taking a moment to let go of anything that's distracting you from the present moment.

Any responsibilities,

Any concerns,

Anxieties.

See if you can let that go and let the body know that it's safe to relax here.

Feeling completely supported by the earth.

And tuning into the right side and the left side of the body.

The masculine side,

The feminine side.

Bringing our focus to the energies of yin and yang.

Two forces that appear to be opposite,

Yet they are also interdependent.

Yin is the moon,

The night,

The inward journey.

And yang is the sun,

The day,

The outward expression.

One cannot exist without the other.

Think about how the night gives way to the day and how the day leads us back to the night.

There's this constant flow that reflects the rhythm of life outside of us and inside.

Where both rest and action are necessary to maintain balance.

So we're looking at creating harmony between the two energies.

Not labeling one as right or wrong.

Taking a deep breath in through the nose.

Feel the expansiveness of that breath.

Yang-like energy.

And then as you exhale,

Notice the softening,

The contraction of this breath.

Notice how each breath follows one another effortlessly.

Each supporting and completing the other.

So without the inhale,

There is no exhale.

And without the exhale,

Inhale cannot exist.

So notice how the body just flows into this natural rhythm through the inhale and exhale.

Take a moment to reflect on how these forces show up in your life.

And if you come to your witness mind,

Taking a moment to point the camera at your life,

Do you notice periods of rest and reflection followed by moments of action and creation?

How do you move between these two phases without label anything as right or wrong?

Just simply notice where these energies play out in your day-to-day life.

And are there areas where you resist rest or times when actions feel difficult?

So pay attention to those too.

And as you continue breathing,

Consider how yin and yang energies weave together to create wholeness.

Yin brings in that cool energy,

Softness,

Very passive qualities that nurture the soul.

And then yang is warm,

Active,

Think dynamic energy that moves us,

Propels us forward to take action.

The two are not in opposition,

They're not opposites,

But they're in harmony.

You can't have one without the other.

Each one needed to complete the other.

So we live in a society sometimes that devalues yin-like quality and overvalues yang.

So just noticing if that's true for you or not.

And if you bring your mind's eye to the changing season,

When we think of spring,

Summer,

Full bloom,

Activity,

Growth,

Yang in nature,

And if you think of the fall and winter,

This more inward journey,

This slowing down,

Restfulness,

Yin qualities,

These cycles teach us the value of both energies,

Reminding us that change is constant and necessary.

We see it in nature and sometimes we forget that we too are part of nature.

Just as the seasons change,

So do we.

And there are times in life when we need to embrace the energy of doing,

Of creating,

Of moving forward,

And then there are times when we need to let go,

To rest and simply allow ourselves to just be.

And if you bring your awareness back into your body,

Bring your mind's eye to do body scan,

Are there areas where you feel yang energy today?

Are there parts of you that feel very active,

Expressive,

Or driven?

And if so,

Honor that.

And then notice if you feel any yin energy,

Perhaps places in the body that are soft,

Quiet,

Or at rest.

Honor that too.

And as we close this meditation,

Remember that yin and yang is always in flux,

Always shifting within us and around us.

Finding balance means recognizing when we need more of one or the other,

And knowing that both are essential for a whole healthy life,

For a balanced life,

For a life that's in harmony.

And now gently bring your awareness back into the body by noticing the movement of your breath in the body.

Bringing your awareness back into the room.

And gently wiggle your fingers and toes,

Bringing life back into the body,

Rotating the wrists and the ankles.

And then inhale,

Raise the arms up over your head if you can,

And take a big stretch here.

Find length,

Grow tall,

And take up space in this moment.

And then exhale,

Let it go.

And I invite you to carry with you this understanding of balance with you as you move through the rest of your day,

The rest of your week,

And this next season of your life.

Thank you so much for joining me.
