This is a meditation for those who struggle with anxiety and for those days when anxiety just gets the best of you,
No matter how much you've tried to keep it at bay.
So this is a little note to your anxiety to help ease you through this period.
And this is a meditation,
It's not any professional advice,
So I highly recommend that you seek help from a trusted medical professional if you need help with supporting yourself through anxiety.
And this is just something that helps me when I'm feeling anxious and meditation is a big tool for me.
So dear anxiety,
I see you,
I hear you and I feel you.
I know you're here to try and teach me something,
To try and protect me,
To warn me and to keep me safe.
And I know that you've been doing this for a really long time and sometimes it works but more often than not I could really do without the anxiety.
So to you dear anxiety,
I see your intentions in trying to keep me safe and well and I want you to know that I've got this.
I am safe.
I am well.
I feel safe in my body and in the world.
I've got tools that help me and people that support me and right now I'm going to ask you to take a back seat and I'm going to guide my mind to somewhere very different to give myself a break from some of the anxious thoughts and feelings.
So if you haven't already done so I'd like to invite you to close down the eyes or lower the gaze if that's more comfortable for you and start to focus in on the breath.
Noticing how the breath connects the mind and the body.
And seeing if you can deepen the breath a little bit.
See if you can find a little bit of space between where one breath ends and the next breath begins.
Finding some softness and space in between each breath.
Finding space where you weren't aware there was any before.
Now I'd like you to allow the mind to just wander off and you find yourself sitting in a very expansive meadow filled with beautiful flowers.
And as you see yourself walking through that meadow you see all the heads of the flowers bobbing away on a gentle breeze and as you walk you touch them gently with your fingers as you walk past.
And you find yourself walking to a little bit of a clearing where the grass is a little bit lower and there's a perfect spot for you to sit or lay down whichever you prefer.
And all around you are the sounds of nature.
Beautiful birds.
You can feel the breeze against your skin and the sun shining bright above you warming your skin,
Warming your cells,
Everything feeling softer,
Calmer and perfectly still in this moment.
And from somewhere in the near distance you can hear a beautiful creek running.
The water swirling and running and tumbling over rocks and you just tune in all your attention to the sound of the water.
And the water sounds very soothing.
And it's making your nerves feel much more at ease.
And the ground beneath you is holding you so securely and you start to release and let go just a little bit more trusting that you're supported and safe.
And you open your eyes just for a moment to notice a couple of butterflies flying above you,
Twirling around each other in this magnificent little dance.
And they get higher and higher until they dance out of sight.
And you lie here or sit here in this moment completely immersed in the beautiful sights and sounds around you.
The water running in the distance,
The birds all around you singing their beautiful bird song.
The occasional insect buzzes past and there's butterflies and dragonflies just enjoying all the space and all the flowers that surround you.
And in this moment,
In this place,
You know that you are perfectly present and perfectly safe.
And you see yourself taking your hands and placing them onto the chest,
Onto the heart and just expressing some gratitude for whatever it is that you're feeling grateful for in this moment.
You might like to also thank your anxiety for whatever it is it's trying to protect you from.
But you can also send it on its way and just reassure it that you're perfectly okay and perfectly capable of looking after yourself.
And with your hands still placed on your heart,
Taking a moment to tell yourself whatever it is that you need to hear right now.
And if you'd like to come out of this meditation now,
You can very gently open up your eyes and come back into the room.
Just allow your eyes to adjust back to the light in the room.
Or if you'd like to stay in this very peaceful meditative state,
Perhaps still amongst the flowers in the clearing that you've been in,
Then you're very welcome to do so.
Please know that you are supported and if you need more help,
Please reach out to your trusted doctor and ask what would be helpful for you to help support you with your anxiety.
But I certainly hope that this meditation has made you feel a little bit more relaxed and a little bit more present.
And I wish you a wonderful rest of your day.
