Welcome to a short meditation that will balance mind,
Body and spirit.
In this meditation we'll focus on balancing the right and left sides of the body.
And in yoga we would focus on the two main channels of energy that flow down the right and left side of the spine known as ita and pingala.
Ita on the left,
Pingala on the right.
So for this exercise you'll use your imagination.
Find a comfortable seated position that brings the spine upright.
And make sure the crown of the head is directly over the sacrum.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Allow the breath to flow in and out through the nose.
Bring your awareness to your shoulders and your chest.
Allow them to be in a good postural position but relaxed.
Try to make the breath smooth on the inhale and the exhale.
Try to smooth it out on the transition from inhale to exhale.
Next bring your awareness to the base of the spine.
And using your imagination draw a line of energy up the right side of the spine up to the crown of the head.
And imagine this line has a warming color like red or orange.
And on the other side of the spine on the left side draw another line of energy from the base to the crown and give that a cooling color like blue or green.
Bringing awareness back to breath.
On your next inhale bring your awareness to the base of the spine on the right side.
And imagine as you inhale a warming line of energy goes up the right side of the spine up to the crown of the head.
And as you exhale it goes down the left side of the spine in a cooling color.
We'll do that again starting with the right inhaling up the right side.
And exhaling down the left.
Switching directions inhaling left.
Exhale right.
Inhale right.
Exhale left.
Inhale left.
Exhale right.
Inhale right.
Exhale left.
Exhale left.
Exhale right.
Inhale left.
Exhale right.
Inhale right.
Inhale left.
Inhale left.
Exhale right.
Next bring your awareness to the center of your chest.
Take a full long slow breath in.
And an easy breath out.
One more time.
Thank you for practicing that short meditation with me today.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
