Hi,

My name is Brandy May and today you're joining me to read my book,

Reflections in My 20s,

Searching for Meaning.

Today we're reading chapter 6,

Love Thyself.

You can find my book on Amazon or Kindle,

But today we're on Insight Timer.

So find yourself in a cozy place if you'd like,

On your bed,

In the couch,

Wherever you want to be.

You can curl up with your journal if you'd like for our veneration and daily life section.

Today we're going to start off with a quote at the top of the page,

Page 24.

Wherever you go,

Love is with you because it lives in you,

Quietly in every cell and structure of your entire being,

Waiting for you to see it.

Many years ago,

When I was a young teenage girl,

Rising and falling at the whim of young men's love,

I had a special moment with my father that I cannot forget.

The message and life lesson that I learned in this moment has carried me through many good times and bad times.

I vividly remember driving down a dark road in the middle of the night.

I had just broken up with my boyfriend at the time,

And my dad came to pick me up.

I was crying profusely.

There was silence in the car and the tears were streaming down my cheeks.

I had felt like someone had taken out all of the love out of my existence.

I remember asking myself quietly if someone would ever want to love me again.

Am I capable of being loved?

Am I lovable?

Looking back at these questions,

It wasn't the boy that I was hung up over or crying for.

It was the loss of having someone tell me they loved me,

Which made me feel worthy of love.

I remember crying for what seemed like hours.

It felt like the longest car ride of my life.

I think my dad must have detoured to let me have a moment to let it all out.

I asked my father,

Why does it hurt so bad?

I'm quite sure he said a lot of helpful things that floated in one ear and out the other,

But there is one thing that struck all these years.

He told me that I can't base my self-worth on someone else's perception of me.

He told me to get to know myself and most importantly,

Learn to love myself because love lives in me and I was created in love.

I'm not quite sure how old I was when I began to embark on a journey of attempting to dissect and digest this concept of loving myself.

I feel like this is something that can take a lifetime to work on.

Eventually,

I believe it can become part of your fabric.

You may not live and breathe it every day,

But it can become a part of who you are that sustains you in the deepest,

Darkest moments.

By loving yourself,

You are loving creation.

The best thing about loving yourself is that you can give yourself permission to be as you are.

The love that lives inside of you is the essence of who you are.

You cannot take it away.

No one can take it from you,

Even though it feels that way sometimes.

You can attempt to hide it with negative thoughts,

But it doesn't go away.

No one can take the love that rests inside your soul because it is untouchable.

They may lead you to believe that love is only there when they express it to you,

But it's not true.

Love is omnipresent.

It is in you,

Around you,

Flows fluidly throughout you.

When you love and believe that you are creation of the universe,

You remove the barriers that often stop us from seeing that we are worthy and greater than we could ever imagine.

When you allow the essence of who you are to be free from judgment,

You blossom and bloom,

Allowing other individuals seeds within themselves to grow.

I don't quite remember exactly the words that my dad said that night,

But I do remember him saying that love lives in me and I was created in love.

I don't think he said that to me just one time.

I had a lot of heartbreaks throughout my life,

And he said it to me several times.

But at the end of the day,

Whether it's a heartbreak or just a general feeling,

It's so important to remember to love ourselves.

It's so easy to say to someone else when we fall in love and meet for the first time,

But if you think about it,

When was the last time you took a moment to take a deep breath in and say I love you to yourself?

Today's veneration and daily life exercise is before you go to bed and when you wake up in the morning,

Take a few moments to close your eyes and say to yourself,

I love who I am.

I am love.

If you have a moment,

We could do that now together.

You want to find yourself in a comfortable position and take a moment to just close your eyes.

If it's helpful,

You can put your hand on your heart and start to notice your natural rhythm of breathing,

Feeling the air flowing into your body and the air gently flowing back out of the body.

As you bring your awareness to your heart,

Feeling your heartbeat,

The source of love that lives inside of you.

Take a moment to say these words to yourself.

I love who I am.

I am love.

I love you.

If it's helpful,

You can say it again.

I love who I am.

I am love.

I love you.

As you say those words to yourself,

Notice what it feels like in the body and what comes up in your thoughts.

You are worthy of love.

You are made in love and love lives divinely within you.

I hope you remember this,

Whether you're going to sleep tonight or you're just starting your day.

You're a beautiful being of love.

I hope you have a wonderful day today and remember,

Even in our darkest and even in our brightest moments,

We are truly divine beings of love.

Love lives abundantly within us.

I hope you have a great day and we'll talk soon.

Take care.
