Getting Centered And Focused To Create A Brilliant 2022
by Raj Gorsia
I ran this session on 18th Jan 22. Uploading it now to remind people to start creating the best year ever. This requires being centered and putting your attention onto what you want. If this session hits you, I invite you to private message me, either here or via social media. Happy to have a discussion and become friends.
Transcript
Yeah 18 days have passed.
The new year is upon us officially and you know what I've noticed?
The past two days people's energy has been massive.
It's almost like that that grace period of the new year has settled in of okay like let me just stumble through a few of the first few weeks.
I did that anyway.
Stumble through the first few weeks and then now I'm like very centered and very focused in terms of what I want to create in the year.
I don't know about you guys.
I wonder if you're feeling like that.
I'm seeing that amongst my clients.
They're just in a great energy in the past few days.
They're just primed and ready to burst into the world and it's definitely what I'm feeling too.
Yeah perhaps it could be the full moon energy.
I don't know.
I'm not sure.
Maybe.
But yeah for me I am very sensitive to shifts that are occurring in in just that space of energy.
Big feelings going on.
Yeah so I guess you guys are feeling the same vibe.
Some of you anyway.
So this is the first session I'm running in the year and really firstly to get centered because there's a whole year of opportunity ahead.
You know you can wipe the slate clean from last year.
If things didn't go as well as you wanted them to,
It doesn't matter.
It's fine.
You just start again and you press the reset button and go fresh into this year.
But it's important to remember when you're being fresh in the new year to actually say okay I am going to commit to doing something.
I'm going to commit to something this year.
How big or how small that is.
So I'm going to talk about that shortly.
But first center.
What does it really mean to be centered?
I want to ask you in the chat.
What does it mean to you to feel centered?
Put some comments in the chat.
What does it mean to you and specifically to you by the way to feel centered?
I want to see what comes up for you guys.
Because I like to freestyle all these sessions to get a feel for who's playing in this experience that we're in right now.
How are you guys playing?
What are you guys saying?
What's coming up in the moment?
And then I'll just go based off that.
What does it feel to be centered for you?
Okay so calm and connected.
Aware,
Peaceful and calm.
To be at peace,
Focused.
To feel connected to my physical body.
Okay yeah connected to my heart.
No sense of time says Lucas.
Acceptance.
If I'm thoroughly in the moment,
Equanimity.
I love that.
Equanimity.
I love that.
To be complete.
Connected.
Yeah connected with all and myself.
Yeah.
To be able to notice what it feels like in different parts of my body.
Yeah I love that.
A lot of people are saying connected.
I'm seeing that word pop up a lot.
Connected.
Connected.
Connected.
Being.
Yeah yeah so interesting.
Because for example,
You know the word centered could mean a few different things.
I'm getting this theme from all of you.
You calm and connection.
Being.
Experiencing.
So with that said,
Let's do a short practice based on everything you guys just said.
I'm gonna think up a practice right now.
So get yourself into a comfortable position.
Whatever that is for you.
And actually you could be doing things at the moment.
You could be walking.
You could be on a sofa,
On a couch.
But all I invite you to do is to raise your awareness just for this moment.
Raise your awareness just for this moment.
And start becoming aware of breath.
This breath that moves through you.
On its own.
Without you doing anything.
Notice if you're trying to control your breath.
If you're trying to be seeing anything right now.
Just let go.
Let go of control.
If your thoughts appear.
Tension.
That's fine.
Let them do their thing.
You don't need to do anything.
Just watch.
See if you can locate the center point in your body.
Wherever that is for you.
You explore.
Feel.
And find the center in your body.
Keep your awareness on this center.
Know how many times you made it get distracted.
Just keep coming back.
Playing.
It's a game of center.
No need to be so serious.
Smile.
And then smile some more.
And smile a little bit more.
And see what comes up for you.
Imagine the center.
As a golden ball of light.
Shine.
Shine like a flame in your center.
Feel the flame growing stronger.
Wider.
Longer.
Bigger.
The flame in your center growing bigger.
Spreading wide.
Spreading tall.
And notice the connection that you feel.
With everything outside of yourself.
The flame in you.
The flame in me.
The flame in everyone around you.
The flame in everything in life.
From the stars.
To the plants.
To the animals.
To the rocks.
The flame in everything.
Connected.
Like a network.
Notice what's coming up for you.
Sensations.
Tons.
Insight.
Be aware of it.
Capture it.
Like fruit.
With its flame.
It grows.
And grows.
Spend a few more moments here.
Working with your center.
And then bring some awareness to your body.
Take some deep breaths.
Start to move your body.
Get ready to come back and join us together.
When you're ready,
Share something in the chat.
Perhaps you're having some insights at the moment.
Or feeling something.
So I invite you to share.
You don't have to.
Okay.
Yes Lucas,
You're feeling it.
Good.
You know,
There are times I get messages from people who are feeling confused with what they're feeling.
I get this a lot because once you go on this journey of working on yourself,
It opens up a new way of seeing things.
A lot of people tell me like there's these parallel universes at play.
Part of me is connected to my standard life and everything I've ever known.
Part of me is exploring something new and it feels kind of confusing but exciting at the same time.
So there's like this,
It feels like there's this split.
Ultimately what I'm doing in the world is trying to bring everyone into harmony with themselves,
With their life,
With everything,
With this body we have.
We carry this flesh around.
We have this mind which thinks of stuff.
We have emotions that we feel.
We have all sorts of things.
We have a job.
We have family.
We have our health.
I've been fascinated in the past seven years,
Fascinated with like how do these things fit together as one?
Because I've always gone into this place of okay I'm going to run,
I'm going to do my fitness,
I'm going to get my health in check and then I'm going to go and do meditation and be spiritual and then I'm going to read some stuff and work with my brain and then I'm going to work on my relationships and then I'm going to also create business and wealth and there's so many little things going on right to work with.
And I've made it my life's work to bring all of that into harmony as one.
As a state of being where everything becomes easier.
So that's what centered means to me.
To me it's being centered is like you think about the mothership.
It's going and accessing the mothership of yourself.
The command center.
You know there's command centers in the ship.
I've never been on the ship actually so I wouldn't know.
But you know you imagine what a command center is.
It's where everything is,
Everything can be mastered from that place.
That's what being centered means to me.
And it's important because otherwise you're running around wasting energy.
You're just running around like a wild horse right.
The horse has got no rider on it.
It's just using all its energy.
And that's what I've done a lot in the past.
That's why I'm here talking about this stuff actually.
I'm not here to say hey look at me I'm in this place and I want to make you feel bad about your life by telling you about this.
I'm not actually in any place.
I'm not in any place.
I'm just working on things and I've made it a passion of mine to develop myself this way.
But in the past it was frantic anxiety.
Franticness.
I've lived in a state of fight or flight for most of my life.
Like second guessing things.
Feeling tired all the time.
Wanting to get big muscles and be huge.
But then also wanting to be calm and present.
Wanting to have a lot of success in my career.
But then also wanting to leave it all behind and do nothing.
I've been all over the place.
I don't know if you guys can relate to that actually.
Can you guys relate?
Tell me in the chat.
Feeling uncentered.
Feeling like there's so much going on.
And most of the time the feeling of uncentered is being in the head.
That's where I used to live a lot in the head.
In the thinking.
It's kind of like if I was carrying a backpack on and in the backpack there was like all of the weight was on the top.
So if I'm trying to carry the backpack it's going to be like imbalanced.
It's going to be weird to carry it.
Or it's like thinking of bowling pins.
The weight is on the bottom right?
Well when we're in our head all the weight is on the top.
So of course it's going to feel imbalanced.
It's like an upside down bowling pin.
It's like you're swaying around like a tree.
Swaying around.
That was most of my life being in the head.
It's like I put all of my weight here so I'm walking around on the streets like this like with this like metal tongue on my head so my legs can't even carry it.
My legs are just like struggling.
My body is struggling because there's nothing in my body now.
It's all in the head.
That's what this is.
This uncenteredness.
It's all the energies focused here.
Yeah I'm glad you like my analogies.
Sometimes people tell me that they like my stories and analogies.
Because that's how it feels for me.
I'm a very visual person.
And what I realized was there's a heart here.
Didn't actually know there was a heart here for most of my life.
I knew that oh yeah I have a heart which is yeah I can run and I have a great fitness so my heart beats fast.
I was thinking of the heart as like this machine.
The biological heart.
Oh okay I go running so I used to do a lot of running.
Oh yeah I still have to work my heart to my cardiovascular system.
Well it doesn't matter how fit your body is.
It doesn't matter if you're running marathons every week.
It doesn't matter if you're not centered in your being.
I used to do a lot of exercise.
Ton.
Like I worked out seven days a week intensely crazy stuff.
Lifting these heavy rocks and then well let's say rocks,
Weights I'm saying.
Running a lot,
Boxing,
Crossfit.
I was in prime condition.
But it doesn't matter if you're not centered deep inside you.
Doesn't matter.
You're not healthy.
That doesn't mean health.
I thought it was.
But it's not true.
Because all the tension gets created from the inside.
From the thinking.
So centering into what we really are inside.
We're a life experience.
We're not this flesh.
We're a life experience.
So center yourself.
Anytime you feel off look for this center for you.
Whatever that means to you.
And then from there then you can start creating your life.
Because here's the thing,
When I was looking for fulfillment let's call it.
When I was looking for fulfillment it's because I felt empty.
I didn't feel fulfilled because I was just in routine and living life was fine actually.
Life was fine.
But it wasn't satisfying.
So then I would chase things to try and find that satisfaction.
Like I said a lot of exercise.
Oh yeah I've got to get myself into prime condition.
Or I've got to go on tons of vacations.
I've got to get away from here.
I've got to go and see the real world.
There's a whole world out there.
I've got to go see that.
Korea I've got to get the best job.
These things are great.
I'm not like a person who's saying live in a cave.
That's not me.
These things are fine.
But I didn't really go to my center.
I was chasing everything and anything to try and feel centered.
So find your center first.
Be in that center.
Make that your prime focus for your life.
Because then you access presence and bliss and calm.
But what I've learnt now is that's not enough.
It's not enough to just be present.
It's the starting block.
It's the reset button.
It's essential.
It's definitely essential.
But we as humans will not put onto this earth to have a routine and do the same old same old.
So you can be present every day but you're not going to feel fully satisfied with life unless you've got something you're moving towards.
Something you're doing that lights you up.
That's my thoughts anyway.
Maybe you don't agree.
I don't know.
But that's how I see things.
That's the journey I've been on anyway.
Because now center becomes you combining your inside world with your outside world.
You become centered inside and now you can plan,
OK what do I want to do with my life?
What do I want to do?
What do I want to create?
That might be I want to create better relationships.
Maybe that's your focus for the next few months,
For the year.
Maybe it's yeah I do want to work on my health.
My health's not in the best place so maybe it's you want to create something.
A few people contact me about creating their business or their career.
Maybe you want to create your next move in terms of career business.
Maybe you want to do something else.
So my question to you right now and feel free to share in the chat if you'd like to.
From this place of center,
What would you like to create in the next few months or year?
What's your number one priority?
I'd love to see a few in the chat.
I can get a feel for where you guys are at so far and how this session is going for you.
Nupur says procrastination.
Yes,
Procrastination is usually because there's no feeling of direction and focus.
It's usually just feeling unsure.
Like if we're not taking efforts to do what we want,
It's because there's something holding us back.
Either you're not fully focused or there's doubt.
That's usually what procrastination is.
If you knew,
If you had a laid out,
You know you knew and you 100% knew that this was going to happen,
There wouldn't be any procrastination.
Of course we don't feel like doing stuff sometimes.
That's the human condition.
I feel it too.
I feel it all the time actually.
So it's kind of just looking at that and seeing what's stopping me from doing stuff.
What else is going on in the chat?
What would you like to create this year?
Even if you don't share in the chat,
Write it down somewhere on your phone.
Just ask yourself this question because this is going to help you.
What's the one thing you'd like to create in the next few months here?
And if you want,
You can send me that message and tell me what came up for you.
I'd love to hear how this session has been for you.
What insights are you having?
It excites me to hear when people are having insights.
Because it means these sessions are useful.
What else is in the chat?
Lorena I think she's gone but she's put a message.
Maybe I'll speak to her later.
Michael says noticing the air around you and the space and the sounds.
That's a great way to get centered because then you're in reality.
You're not in the thinking space which is thinking about future and past or too much at once,
Right?
Overload.
When you're in the air,
In the space and the sounds,
You're really here.
You're really in what's in front of you.
Okay,
What else are people saying?
Harmony at home and connecting with the community.
Yeah,
That's a great one to work on.
David says I've always wanted to create joy.
Create joy,
Yeah.
It's a creation of it,
Right?
We can create joy because joy is already there.
We know what it feels like,
Right?
It's not like this foreign thing that we don't understand.
We've experienced joy so now it's almost like getting into it and saying what is joy?
That's it.
That brings me joy.
And what's stopping me from getting joy?
Those two questions.
That's what I'd invite you to ask yourself,
David.
What brings me joy and what takes away my joy?
Get a piece of paper,
Draw a line down the middle and just answer those two questions.
Make a list.
I'll invite everyone here to do that.
I do this with my clients sometimes and I'll say to them just draw a line,
Say what is taking you away from this and what brings you it.
It's a real fun and simple exercise that will shift you into something for sure.
So I invite you to do that,
David,
If that's useful for you.
Michael says help others to feel listened to.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Yeah,
And Lucas says that as well.
Yeah.
Yeah,
There's something powerful about actually serving someone else.
It's just you get out of yourself instantly.
You're instantly out of yourself.
Bringing someone else meaning in their life,
Helping them find meaning,
You said,
Lucas.
It just elevates you into another place.
And if you can make that into your work and your business,
Oh my God,
Like,
Yeah,
That's incredible.
So if that's what you're doing or you'd like to do that,
Then yeah,
I'd love to hear about it.
Send me a message.
I'd love to hear about how you want to move people into feeling listened to.
Or if it's just personal,
Also great.
Awesome.
Anna says happy,
Healthy,
Full of love relationship with your kids.
Yeah.
Yeah,
That's your focus for the year.
Imagine you spent all of your spare time because yeah,
We have things work and all of that.
Let's say you spent all of your spare time,
All of it,
No more TV,
No more of the well,
You can watch TV.
You can watch TV,
But less of the things that are time waste and you spent all of your time for like two months,
Let's say for now,
You spent two months just focusing on creating what you want is going to improve.
Maybe you won't get some miraculous like thing,
But actually who knows?
Maybe you do.
I've had a conversation with someone once and just spent two hours with them and their whole life is shifted in a different way because if you get out of your usual way of doing things,
Life looks one way,
Something happens and then life is completely different.
For example,
Somebody,
Let's say one of you,
No not one of you,
Sorry,
Let's say someone,
A fictionary person had a car accident and you survived it,
Survived it and you start having these thoughts like,
Oh my God,
I could have died.
Life's going one way,
Something happens,
You look at life differently.
All it takes is one insight,
Life looks different.
That's ultimately what I'm trying to create into the world.
That's my creation of trying to help people create insights that change their life.
Create them instead of it having to be this car accident that occurs or this health scare that occurs that's going to shift you into creating your life and realizing how amazing life is.
Doesn't have to be fatal incidents or scary things that happen that shift you into fully living,
It doesn't have to be.
Sometimes people ask me that question,
They say,
Raj,
Did something happen in your life or did you have an awakening moment?
I didn't have an awakening moment but I'm creating awakening moments regularly.
I'm making those happen regularly so it's not some random thing that happens like,
Oh I've had a car accident or I've had this one moment in my life that changed everything for me.
I'm creating that.
I'm having that each day.
Meditating,
For example,
You go and meditate,
You might have an insight.
Journaling,
You might have an insight.
When I'm coaching someone,
They're seeing me nearly every week.
So nearly every week they're having those car crash moments.
Nearly every week they're having car crash moments.
Sometimes that happens once in someone's life for them to shift.
But when I'm actually coaching someone,
They're having these car crash moments every week nearly.
So life's going one way,
It shifts.
We're stimulating those moments,
Consciously making them happen.
The more you do that and then you take action on these things that you're saying in the chat,
Well all of this stuff you want is simple now.
And you can see how passionate that is because I really believe it.
This isn't just words for me.
This is how I'm living.
I really believe anything you want you can have.
Someone had said to me,
Raj are you a motivational speaker?
I said I'm not a motivational speaker because I think motivation is temporary.
It's like oh I feel great for two minutes.
You might leave this session feeling great.
I feel great for two minutes.
I'm ready.
I'm ready to go.
But I prefer making that happen often and then actually going and doing something about it.
Because I spent years watching YouTube videos and getting motivated,
Watching Tony Robbins and getting fired up about it.
But nothing changed.
Because I was just sat there watching content and then I went back to my usual life.
It became a desire then,
It became like oh I wish,
I wish,
I wish I could have that.
Becomes this like dream and this fantasy land.
But again you take a tiny action,
Tiny action.
Okay you want to do something with volunteering Michael?
Okay go yeah exactly go over there and go and do something.
Tiny action and you never know maybe you meet someone there that's interesting and maybe that person becomes a new friend of yours.
Maybe that person introduced you to someone who's connected to something else that you enjoy and now look your life's changed.
These tiny actions.
Making joy,
Imagine you create a little bit of joy in your day.
So now when you go to the shop and you go to the shop and you encounter somebody at the front and you have a nice conversation because you're full of joy now.
And then they go and have a nice conversation with their friend and then maybe one of their friends is having a rough time and thinking of doing something terrible with their life.
But now because of the joy you started creating is impacting everyone.
You see how these tiny things can have ripples.
Okay.
I think that's all for now.
I'd love to hear what insights you're having for yourself in the chat and what might be one tiny like this the tiniest action the size of an ant.
The tiniest action that you can take.
Insight and action.
That's my invitation.
What's your insight and what could be your tiny action to start off your amazing year centered and moving you towards where you want to be.
Put something in the chat.
As soon as you put it in the chat it's a declaration.
Your word becomes reality.
I say this to my clients all the time.
Whenever they say to me yeah I'm going to do this.
I say declare it then.
Tell me that you're committed.
And they say it.
They speak their words into existence.
And then they just go and do it.
And then now look whatever they want has been created because of their word and their commitment.
I'm never here holding people's hands and saying oh did you do it did you do it.
Because once they declare this to themselves they've spoken it into their world into the universe into God whatever you believe in.
There's faith now.
There's an energy beyond physical supporting by your side.
Tiny action is to start journaling again.
Nice.
Yeah.
Great.
You've spoken it into the world.
Who else?
Who else wants to share?
I remember when I used to do this and I used to commit to things I used to say it and then be like oh my God like what did I just commit to what did I just say what if they hold me to it now I've got pressure.
Well that's it's going to feel that way when you do something new or something different it's going to feel challenging.
It's going to feel scary.
To create this year you want to create something different to what's happening now it will be you will face resistance.
So you've just you just got to be with that.
Like when we were kids trying to learn to ride a bike.
Imagine that as a kid.
It must be so scary.
Trying to ride a bike or going to school for the first time after being with your parents your whole life.
Wow that must have been scary.
We got through it.
We learnt from it.
So I invite you once again even if you don't share in the chat what's your insight and what is your tiny tiny action your tiny commitment that you're going to stick to.
Speak it into the world.
Smile more.
Yes I love that Liz.
Vanessa says tiny action is I believe it's possible in relation to my bigger dreams.
Yes you create it to be possible because belief could get lost somewhere.
Belief could get lost somewhere in our minds because it's now like I believe it but this is a chance for something to creep in and mess that up.
What if you create the impossible?
I like to say that to my clients sometimes.
Let's create the impossible.
It's a play on words right?
I'm playing on the fact that they think something feels challenging.
Let's create the impossible.
Accountability group yeah.
If anyone wants some support drop me a message on Instagram.
I'm on Instagram Raj Gorsea or you can just Google me I've got a page.
If you just Google me you'll find this link tree which has a bunch of things about me.
It's got like a tells my story.
It shows me jumping off a cliff and jumping into water.
There's a whole story behind that.
Google me and check me out if you'd like to.
Just type in Raj Gorsea and you'll find this link tree page.
But Instagram is where I live and I put stories there every day basically.
Every day you'll get like if you check it out every day I'm posting something on a video or some kind of text something that's flowing through me.
I've got like a hundred book recommendations there.
There's just endless amount of stuff if you'd like to.
And connect with me send me a message.
Send me a message on Instagram Facebook or whatever however you prefer.
There's a contact form on my page as well.
I'd love to hear what you'd like some support with.
And this isn't coming from a place that oh you need some help you're not capable.
I'm here to be better than you.
It's not like that at all.
Would you want some support?
Do you want some support?
If you want some support and want to work with me one to one and you want to hear what that looks like and maybe even have an experience of that.
If I feel like that would be useful I'd invite you to an experience of that.
And we can see if there's something that we can create.
If I can help you to create your year.
So that's my invitation.
And I have to do this because sometimes I get messages saying oh Raj I was really reluctant to message you.
I wasn't sure if there's something in the way sometimes.
And I get it because I've felt this way when contacting people myself before.
So that's my invitation.
As if you were being invited to my house to have a chat with me.
Send me a message and we can talk.
And I think you can also do that on Insight Timer if you'd like.
Direct message.
But yeah otherwise there's a bunch of resources.
I've got a YouTube page.
I've got like I've written a lot of stuff as well.
I'm everywhere.
Because there's just too much of this flowing out of me.
I've just chucked it into pots.
So yeah feel free to check me out.
And what I might be doing soon is opening up a group coaching program where I will invite a number of people to be part of a very intimate group.
And it will be the same impact you'd get from working with me one to one.
But it would be you have a group as well.
There's a journey.
There's a gang of us.
So if you're interested in that drop me a message and I'm starting to arrange this.
And like I said it would be a limited amount of people.
And it's not one of those like oh limited amount marketing phrase.
No genuinely I want it to be a limited amount.
So it's more intimate.
So if you want to be invited or have an opportunity to join that then send me a message.
I always like to say this it's like a right place right time kind of thing.
When someone is in the right place then yeah maybe you contact me.
But otherwise there's a bunch of events I'm going to be running on here for the next couple of weeks most likely.
I haven't arranged the next one yet.
I don't even know what I'm going to talk about next.
But there will be an event sometime next week if you'd like to join on here.
So I'm going to leave it as that I think.
Unless anyone has any questions last questions.
Last insights anything you'd like to speak into the world.
