Welcome to your body check-in practice.
This practice can be done either laying down or in a seated position depending on which feels best to you in this moment.
This practice is going to be supportive of you if you are wanting to connect with your intuition and what your body is asking for.
The more you practice,
The easier and quicker this process becomes.
To get started,
Make sure you find yourself in a comfortable position.
Go ahead and take a moment to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths here.
You'll want to pay attention to filling up your belly as opposed to your lungs,
Inflating your belly on the inhale,
And deflating on the exhale.
Anytime you notice your thoughts are being distracting or you are losing focus of the practice,
You'll want to return to this breath of filling up your belly and deflating your belly.
Your breath will serve as an anchor in this practice.
As you find yourself becoming more relaxed,
Go ahead and take one hand on your heart space and the other hand on your belly.
Having this connection as we check in with ourselves gives us an opportunity to stay connected to our body.
Over time,
This allows us to rebuild any lost trust that may have occurred.
Go ahead and allow your breathing to resume to normal now.
And just focus on my words as we go through a quick body scan.
Starting at the top of your head,
Go ahead and notice if you're feeling any tension or discomfort and allow it to release as we move down our neck and shoulders,
Letting any upper body muscles relax and release,
Allowing your jaw to become relaxed,
Your shoulders to rest,
And allowing your eyes to just flutter naturally as they become more relaxed.
Moving down to your belly,
Allowing every muscle on the way down to just relax now,
And moving down to your pelvis,
Your thighs,
And seeing if you can relax those muscles even more as you trust the earth below you to support you in this moment.
And moving down your legs and out your feet,
Allow any tension,
Discomfort,
Or pain to just move away now as you continue to relax.
Go ahead and start to focus your attention to your heart space and your belly now as you are remaining connected with one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.
And if you become distracted with your thoughts,
Just allow them to float away.
You can even let them know that you will revisit them after this practice.
But for now,
You remain here and now with your breath and your body.
Go ahead and just see if you notice anything coming up on its own in your body.
Are you having any cravings?
Do you have any emotions present?
If so,
Just take note and be curious.
And take another moment to just take another deep breath in your belly,
Filling it up like a balloon and exhaling through your mouth,
Letting it all go.
And now take a moment to ask yourself,
What do I need right now to feel good?
You may get an immediate answer.
You may not.
You might find your mind wandering again.
And if so,
That's okay.
Just bring your attention back to your breath and your connection to your body with your hands.
And ask again.
You may receive a word,
An image,
A color,
A taste,
Or something that might not make sense in this moment.
Whatever it is,
Allow yourself to be curious about it and release any judging thoughts you might have about the response.
If you are struggling to get a clear answer,
Ask again,
What do I need right now to feel good?
And know that if you don't get a clear answer or something that might make immediate sense,
That by doing this practice,
It will become clearer and easier over time.
You are building the muscle of checking in and tuning in with your body,
Which can take a little bit of time.
If you did get an answer,
Go ahead and just hang on to that for a moment as we finish our practice.
Make a little note in the back of your mind.
And take another deep belly breath here.
Allow yourself to really feel your hand on your heart and your other hand on your belly.
And thank yourself for giving you any information you received today.
And trust that the more you return to yourself,
The clearer the information will become.
Go ahead and begin to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Take a big stretch if it feels good for you.
And slowly flutter your eyes open to come back to the room.
Now if you received an answer about what your body is needing,
Go ahead and see if it's something that you can act on and that feels in alignment for you.
When we are able to ask our body what it needs and honor it,
It helps us rebuild that trust between our mind and body connection.
If you cannot honor it now,
Do your best to come back to it later so that you can again allow this trust to flow through you.
And if you didn't get a clear answer,
That's okay.
You might find that later today you receive a message,
Something that pops up into your mind's eye,
Your intuition,
Or even just a thought.
And it will make sense to you as it arrives.
Just know that any time you want to take a moment to assess and discover what's going to be most supportive for you,
The simple act of asking your body what it needs is a great place to start.
And just know that you are building up rapport with your body again if this is something that you have struggled with.
I invite you to go ahead and enjoy the rest of your day or evening,
Whatever time it is for you,
And just know this practice is here for you anytime you need to return to it.
