Concentration/stabilising meditation on the continuity of mind, focusing the meditator on the fundamental questions of where the mind comes from, where it begins, and where it ends. This concentration meditation has aspects of analytical meditation and is a good bridge between concentration meditation and analytical meditation. I hope it supports your practice.

All right,

We're going to do a concentration or stabilization meditation on the continuity of mind.

Before we begin,

Let's set our motivation.

I'm going to do this meditation in order to attain enlightenment so that I can help all beings attain that state as well.

All right,

Settle your breath.

Take some breaths and focus on your breath.

First,

Take a look at your present state of mind.

Look at the thoughts and sensations that flash by.

Observe them in a detached way.

Don't get involved with them or argue with them.

Just observe them.

Film the forceful asleep the Now,

Let's travel back in time.

Think about the conscious experiences you've had since waking this morning.

Are these part of the same stream of consciousness as your present experience?

Did you dream last night?

Try to recall your dreams.

Now,

Trace your mental experiences back through the last week or two weeks.

Are these experiences part of the same stream of consciousness?

Don't focus on recollections or events that happen,

But on the mind's continuity,

The mind's experience of those events.

Are these all part of the same stream of consciousness?

Are these all part of the same stream of consciousness?

Are these all part of the same stream of consciousness?

Are these all part of the same stream of consciousness?

Are these all part of the same stream of consciousness?

Now,

Go back as far as you can to mind experiences in childhood.

Relax and open your mind to such memory,

The experiences of your mind as a child.

Are these experiences part of the same stream of consciousness?

Relax and open your mind to such memories as the experience of those memories as a child.

Birds chirping birds chirping birds chirping Now travel back to your birth and think about being in the womb.

If mind is a stream of experiences,

When did it begin?

Did it arise from your parents' mind?

Or did it arise from nowhere?

Or did it arise from a mindstream that already existed before you were conceived?

Open your mind to that possibility.

What is the worry?

Birds chirping birds chirping birds chirping birds chirping birds chirping birds chirping birds chirping birds chirping birds chirping Now come all the way back to the present and observe your stream of consciousness running into the future.

When you die,

Does it cease to exist?

Does it transform into something else?

Or does your mindstream simply continue on?

Open your mind to that possibility.

Such a peaceful experience. Insightful observation of thoughts was very helpful to create a meditative space. Thank you for your guidance, the quiet spaces, and the birds.

I found this so profound, what an accumulation of thinking, many mile stones, and even though mindfulness had been a short part of my consciousness history, it can not be applied to all the thoughts and situations I remember. Thank you for this opportunity.
