This is a meditation on the clarity of mind. The purpose of this meditation is to train the mind to concentrate and prepare the mind for deeper meditations. The meditation begins with setting our intentions and then a brief instruction on focusing on clarity of the mind. There is a substantial space for quiet meditation, then dedication and prayers at the end. I recommend doing a general meditation on breathing first before trying this one out. I hope this supports your practice. Thanks.

Hi and welcome.

This is a meditation on the clarity of the mind,

A concentration meditation.

Before we begin,

Let's set our motivation.

I'm going to do this meditation in order to attain enlightenment so that I can help all beings attain that state as well.

Take a few moments to settle your breath.

Now let's turn our attention to the clarity of consciousness.

Your consciousness or mind is whatever you are experiencing at this moment.

The sensations in your body,

The thoughts,

Feelings,

Perceptions of sound,

Everything you think and feel.

But the nature of each of these experiences is clarity.

Clarity without form or color,

A space like pure awareness.

Focus your attention on this clear,

Pure nature of mind.

If this is difficult,

One thing you can do is meditate on the visual inner space.

Focus your attention on this clear,

Pure nature of mind.

If this is difficult,

One thing you can do is meditate on the visual image of clarity by visualizing space.

Imagine that you are laying in a field looking at the sky.

Imagine that you are in a field looking at the sky.

And the sky is completely clear and free of clouds.

You can see the light of the space.

Imagine that you are laying in a field looking at the sky.

And the sky is completely clear and free of clouds.

Concentrate on this vast,

Unobstructed emptiness.

Imagine that it flows down and embraces you and your surroundings until everything becomes empty like space.

Hold this experience feeling that the nature of your mind is like clear,

Empty space.

As thoughts arise,

Don't follow them,

But also don't reject them.

Remember that they are clear by nature,

Without substance.

Watch them come and go,

Then return to awareness of the mind's clarity.

You don't need to think about anything during this meditation.

There's no need to wonder what the mind is.

Simply observe it.

It's clear nature,

Which is infinite,

Empty space.

That is sufficient.

Be natural.

Meditation is simple and natural.

It is nothing special.

Let's dedicate our meditation.

I dedicate this meditation to all of those who are suffering,

Who are in pain or feel weak.

I will use the compassion and strength I've gained to better interact with the world and spread love and joy and reduce hate and fear.

Now let's close with some prayer.

May all sentient beings have happiness and the causes of happiness.

May all sentient beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering.

May all sentient beings be inseparable from the happiness that is free from suffering.

May all sentient beings abide in equanimity,

Free from attachment and anger that holds some close and keeps others distant.

Due to the merits of these virtuous actions,

May I attain the state of a Buddha and lead all living beings without exception into that enlightened state.

May the supreme Chul,

Bodhicitta,

That has not arisen,

Arise and grow.

May that which has arisen never diminish but increase more and more.

Thanks.

Wonderful meditation. What an inspiring idea that meditation is not anything special. I find it hard not to control during my meditations. I seem to try too much. But maybe that is also something that I can notice, accept and let go. This was exactly what I needed. Warm thank you for sharing your wisdom. Kiitos ❤️
