This moving meditation is created to be listened to in a park, forested area, or even your backyard. Somewhere you can feel relaxed to close your eyes, take off your shoes, and hug a tree. I love to go barefoot in the warmer months, especially when I’m in the forest. Every step becomes so mindful. I really feel where I am in the moment. By slowing down a little, and tuning in, a whole new world of beauty and connection opens up.

Welcome to our Earth Walk Meditation.

This moving meditation is created to be listened to in a park,

A forested area,

Or even your backyard.

Somewhere where you feel relaxed to close your eyes.

Somewhere you can take off your shoes and hug a tree.

If that's not available to you right now,

You can always use your imagination to transport yourself somewhere beautiful and simply be there energetically.

If there are other people around you during this experience,

Trust the perfection of that.

Perhaps they were guided here to see you meditating and hugging trees today.

You never know who you'll inspire by simply being yourself.

And know that for this practice,

I'm here with you every step of the way.

You're not alone in this journey.

All my prompts and cues are merely ideas and you can adjust each one to suit you where you are and what you're most comfortable with.

Once you have arrived in your sacred,

Earthy space,

You can either have a sit down on a bench or a chair or even directly on the earth or remain standing,

Whatever feels best to you here.

Really arrive where you are.

Taking a nice deep breath in through your nose,

Filling your lungs and letting it all go with a big sigh through your mouth.

From where you are,

Take your shoes and socks off and get your feet into the earth.

Close your eyes.

Breathe in and out.

Notice the texture of the ground beneath you.

Is it rough or soft?

Squishy or firm?

What does it feel like?

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Can you feel your connection to the earth?

Sense the whole earth below your feet.

Feel its expansiveness,

Its bigness,

Its aliveness.

Feel how supported you are by the earth,

How loved you are.

Take a deep breath in here and let it go.

Take a moment to notice the air temperature on your skin.

Notice any movement in the air around you,

Perhaps a soft breeze.

If the sun is out,

Feel it warming your skin and bask in this warm hug of light.

Take a nice long inhale here.

Exhale slowly,

Relax.

And just like that,

Noticing the quality and fragrance of the air.

Notice the sensation of the air moving through your lungs.

Feel this life force,

This prana effortlessly dancing between you and your environment.

A perfect harmony.

Breathe the air in more deeply,

Filling your lungs,

Feeling connected and alive.

As you exhale,

Relax more deeply into your environment,

Melting into it.

Inhale receive life.

Exhale surrender yourself back to life.

Inhale receive.

Exhale surrender,

Melting back into life.

Now just allow your breath to be slow and natural and with your eyes open or closed,

Begin to tune into the sounds you can hear around you.

First in the distance,

Perhaps the sounds of people,

Cars,

The wind in the trees.

And now bring your awareness closer to your body and listen to the sounds nearby.

Perhaps a bird song,

Sound of your own breath.

Simply allow the symphony of sounds around you to wash over you,

Not judging or labeling anything.

Simply hearing,

Feeling,

Noticing,

Being.

Open your eyes if you haven't already,

Let your gaze soften into your peripherals.

Just hold the whole space in your awareness.

Just taking in the fullness of this place,

This environment.

Extend your felt awareness into the space beyond your body and get a sense of it.

Its is-ness,

Its presence.

What does this space feel like to you?

Now return your awareness to your own body,

Your own presence,

Feeling your aliveness,

Your beingness,

The stillness of your body.

From this place of inner stillness,

Slowly,

Gently from where you are,

Rise up and begin to walk towards a tree nearby.

With every step towards it,

Feel your connection to the earth,

Sensing the earth below you.

Let all your thoughts dissolve as you simply be,

Feel,

Move.

When you arrive at the tree,

I invite you to either place both palms upon it or wrap it in an embrace with your heart and cheek pressed upon it.

Perhaps closing your eyes,

Just breathing in and out.

Say hello and begin to feel the energy of the tree in front of you.

Sense its strong and robust trunk transporting nutrients and signals from the roots down the branches to the tips of the leaves.

Let your awareness travel down through the roots and feel your own rootedness.

Now let your awareness travel back up the trunk and expand out through the branches and leaves,

Feel the tip of the tree touching the sky,

Feel how expansive it is,

How it reaches and grows towards the light.

Now simply be with,

Breathe here,

Feel the presence of the tree,

Not so different from your own.

You might even feel its awareness of you and sense any messages it has for you.

Just opening your heart,

Opening your mind,

Letting whatever comes through,

Come through.

Not needing it to be anything,

Being open to everything.

When you're ready,

Perhaps speaking a silent thank you or I love you to the tree,

Feel the words echoed back to you,

Its own heart mirroring the reverence of your own.

And to close your interaction,

You may choose to offer a simple kiss.

And if you're able to,

Come to sit below the tree in a way that's comfortable to you.

Close your eyes once more,

Breathe.

Just be.

Sitting in the is-ness of this moment,

A simple and complete part of its wholeness,

Its perfection.

How does it feel to sense and be with life in this slow and attentive way?

You did so well today.

When you're ready,

Breathe in deeply,

Extending your arms above your head,

Bringing your palms to touch.

And as you exhale,

Allow your hands to come to heart center in prayer position,

Softly bowing your head.

Just rest here for a moment in your own ease,

Your own presence.

I invite you to stay here as long as you like,

Just letting yourself be held and nurtured by the earth.

Thank you so much for your willingness to experience life in a new way.

The love in me sees,

Honors,

Recognizes,

And delights in the love in you.

From my tree-hugging heart to yours,

Namaste.
