Would you be surprised to know that those feelings of discomfort that many of us are experiencing are feelings of grief and loss?
Many of us equate grief with the loss of a loved one or the end of a relationship.
But grief is about conflicting emotions that arise when everything that is familiar changes.
Our world has changed.
All that was once familiar has changed.
So yes,
What we are experiencing is a natural and normal reaction to change.
So now take a moment and make yourself comfortable.
Whether sitting upright in a chair or lying down in a comfortable position,
The choice is yours.
The choice is yours as to whether you are ready to allow your eyes to gently close.
Or if you prefer to softly focus your gaze upon something within your field of vision.
This is a time for you.
A time to allow yourself a quiet moment.
A moment to disconnect from the outside world.
A moment to travel inward.
A time to honour yourself.
To honour your physical,
Emotional,
Your spiritual well-being.
As you simply allow yourself to be,
Focus for a moment on your breath.
Being aware of your breath as it moves in and out of your body.
Being aware of how your physical body responds to the breath.
The gentle rising and falling of the chest,
The abdomen.
Filling your lungs completely as you inhale.
And allowing the exhale to empty your lungs fully.
As your muscles respond to the calming and gentle rhythm of your breath.
Feeling your muscles as they relax deeper and deeper.
Releasing any strands of tension.
Scanning your body for that stress,
That tension that we sometimes hold without even realizing.
Scan your body starting at the top of your head and slowly moving down your face,
Your eyes,
Your jaw.
Relaxing deeper and deeper as the muscles release and let go.
Feeling the muscles in your neck,
Your shoulders,
Down your arms and all the way to the tips of your fingers.
Feeling the release.
Feeling the deep calm and relaxation sweep over the muscles of your back,
Your stomach and abdomen.
Feeling the muscles melt into the surface beneath you.
With every inhalation,
Breathing in relaxation,
Peace,
Calm.
Down over your hips,
Your thighs.
Breathing out any stress or tension you may be holding on to.
Down your legs and into your feet.
All the way to the tip of your toes.
Feeling any remaining stress or tension leaving your body through the soles of your feet.
Taking mind and body all the way down to that peaceful calm beautiful state connecting with your soul.
And from this state of calm allow yourself to feel the love I am sending from my heart to yours.
Allow yourself to feel the calming,
Loving,
Supportive and healing energy from my soul to yours.
Allow yourself to be fully surrounded by the safety and security of this space that I now hold for you.
And from this space allow yourself to once again scan your body,
Scan your body for those emotions,
Those feelings of loss that you may be experiencing,
Acknowledging that those uncomfortable feelings are a natural and normal reaction to the loss that we have collectively experienced.
Allow yourself to understand that our whole world has changed in light of this global pandemic.
Understanding that we grieve the world we left behind when we closed our doors to the outside world.
And understanding,
Recognizing that even as we take the first tentative steps back out into the world,
This is not the same world we left behind those few short months ago.
Observing those feelings,
Recognizing those feelings,
Those emotions,
Give them a name.
Allow yourself to recognize what it is that you are feeling.
Allow yourself the chance to grieve in your own way,
At your own pace,
In your own time,
Holding space for yourself,
Holding space for those emotions to flow,
To flow as they need,
When they need,
Knowing that the very act of releasing those emotions takes great strength and creates great cleansing and clearing,
Washing away,
Replacing,
Letting go.
And as you let go,
And only when you are ready,
Take a deep breath in and blowing the exhalation out of your mouth.
Blow away any energy that no longer serves you.
And only when you are ready,
Take a nice,
Deep cleansing breath in.
Allow yourself a moment to acknowledge that although we may not know exactly what our world will look like once we throw open our doors,
We have the ability to write the new story of our lives.
All we have to do is pick up the pen and believe.
