My name is Corey Quinn and I'm going to be taking you through a guided visualization that I call Hitting the Gym.
Let's begin by finding a place that's comfortable to sit.
You could have your eyes open or closed and we'll begin by taking three breaths.
Let's take the first breath in and release.
Next breath in and release.
Next breath in and release.
Go ahead and close your eyes if you haven't already.
Let's take a scan through your body to get a picture of how your body is feeling right now.
Notice what feels comfortable and what feels uncomfortable.
You don't need to make any changes,
Rather just notice how your body is feeling right now.
We'll start at the top of your head.
Going down from the top of your head past your eyes,
The muscles in your face,
Your jaw,
Your neck,
The muscles in your shoulders and upper back,
Your chest,
Your arms and your forearms,
Your hands,
The muscles in your abdomen and your stomach,
Your lower back.
Moving down now into your buttocks,
Your upper legs,
Your calf muscles and your ankles all the way down to your feet.
Now that you have a sense of where your body's at,
I'd like you to imagine you are walking into a gym.
It could be your local gym that you frequent or a gym in your home.
Wherever you go to work out with weights and machines is fine and if you don't have a gym,
Imagine what it would be like if you did.
As you walk into your gym,
You notice a sense of calm and peacefulness come over your body.
Walk to an area where you have comfortable space to stretch your body.
When you're there,
Begin to gently stretch the muscles in your lower body.
Stretch your legs,
Your calves and so on.
Do this now.
Then move to the muscles in your upper body.
Gently stretch your arms,
Your chest,
Your shoulders and so on.
Do this now.
When you're done,
Take a moment to feel how good it is to have warm,
Stretched muscles across your entire body.
As you feel this feeling,
You notice that you are calm yet energized,
Centered and relaxed in your body.
Now that you have completed stretching your lower and upper body,
Walk over to an area in the gym where there are free weights or dumbbells.
As you pick up two of the dumbbells,
One for each hand,
You decide to pick up ones that are slightly heavier,
Maybe five pounds heavier than what you would normally pick up.
Now with one in each hand,
You begin to lift them as you normally would.
You notice that your body and your muscles in your arms and chest are stronger than they ever have been.
You're able to almost effortlessly lift the weights.
Your lifting is easier and more fluid than ever before.
You are completely pain-free and energized.
Your body is warm and strong.
Now you replace the dumbbells and walk over to where the cardio machines are in your gym.
You find your favorite cardio machine is available and you get on the cardio machine.
It could be a treadmill,
A spin bike,
An elliptical or whatever it is you use for your cardio workouts.
Then once on the machine,
You set the time of your workout on the cardio machine for five more minutes than you normally would.
Then you begin your cardio workout.
As you start your cardio workout,
You notice that the workout is easier than it ever has been before.
Your breathing is deep and fluid and not winded.
Your body feels strong and powerful.
You feel calm,
Happy and centered more so than ever before.
You notice that you're enjoying your workout and the wonderful energy you're feeling in your entire body.
You begin to wrap up your cardio workout and you eventually get off the machine and walk back over to the area where you were previously spread stretching your body.
You begin to stretch the muscles in your body again.
Start with the muscles in your lower body.
Now move to the muscles in your upper body.
Notice how easily and fluidly your body moves as you go through your stretches.
Feel how good it is to stretch your warm muscles.
You feel a wonderful energy and power course throughout your entire body.
Now with this new energy,
You have completed the workout.
You take this energy back into the room where you're currently sitting.
Take one more deep breath and then open your eyes.
