Transcript

This is the five minute mindfulness of breathing practice.

And we can start by getting ourselves into a comfortable posture.

Perhaps sitting upright on a chair with our feet on the floor.

Just noticing what it's like to be here in this place at this time.

And then if it helps we can close our eyes.

Just to reduce the distractions around us.

And to focus on the practice.

So we can start by focusing on the breathing.

Just noticing what it's like to breathe in and then breathe out again.

Breathing in through the nose.

And then out through the nose again.

Just breathing at a regular comfortable pace.

Not quicker or slower than we normally would.

Just noticing the sensations of breathing.

And we can focus on what it's like for the air to enter the nose when we breathe in.

Or breathe out again.

Or what it's like for the air to be filling the lungs.

Just watching.

Not pushing or forcing anything.

And if we get distracted in any way,

Maybe by a noise or sensation in the body or a passing thought.

And just let that go.

Just watch it and let it go.

And returning the focus to the breathing when you notice.

Not worrying about it.

Just returning the focus to the breathing.

Noticing what it's like to breathe in and simply breathe out again.

And then for the last minute of this practice we can refocus the attention.

Just to notice what it's like to breathe.

Just sitting here in this moment breathing.

Nothing else to do.

Just watching the breath.

Noticing what it's like.

And then for the last few seconds of the practice we can bring our attention back into the room.

Noticing where we're set.

What it's like to be in the room at this time.

And opening our eyes to close the practice.
