Hello and welcome,
I'm Katia and I'll guide you through this symptom flare-up or reaction you're experiencing.
This is not for emergency situations or an acute unknown flare-up,
But for more common flare-up type symptoms or reactions that are not life-threatening.
Please ensure you've got any required emergency medication next to you and you've been through your flare-up toolkit to take medications or implement other strategies first.
As you wait for symptoms to dissipate or just a little symptom relief,
We're going to look to calm down anxiety and let your brain know you're safe.
But if anything feels uncomfortable or it doesn't feel right,
Please just do what feels good for you at this moment.
Remember you can pause this or stop it at any time.
Wherever you are,
Find as comfortable a position as you can where you're perhaps well supported with a cushion so that you can let your muscles fully relax.
Without changing anything,
Begin to observe how you're breathing.
Is it shallow or fast?
Is the air warm or cool?
Does it change temperature between the in-breath and the out-breath?
If you haven't already,
I now invite you to close your eyes or soften your gaze,
Whatever feels most comfortable to the situation and your surroundings.
We're going to check in with our bodies.
Begin to look inwards and connect with how your body is feeling right at this moment.
Where is the discomfort that you're currently feeling?
Is it just one specific body part or can you feel multiple?
What's coming up for you right now and where in your body can you feel this?
How can you feel it and how would you describe it?
Are there any emotions connected to these physical sensations?
Where in your body can you sense those emotions?
However you feel,
I want to begin by sending you my empathy and a reminder that even if I'm diagnosed or not fully explained as to why your body is doing this,
It is still completely valid.
If anyone doesn't believe you,
I believe you.
You are valid.
Now is there a way to start to slow your breathing down a little?
Can you breathe in slightly deeper?
You may want to breathe in deeply and sigh out heavily.
Or perhaps you may prefer to slow your breathing without taking super deep breaths and keep your breaths more shallow.
Do what feels right for you.
Now your body may feel otherwise but whilst we're feeling connected to it,
We want to remind our bodies that we're safe,
We are protected and everything is going to be okay.
When we feel pain or a symptom,
Our bodies go into a fight or flight response which activates our sympathetic nervous system.
If you're feeling any anxiety with your symptoms,
This is completely understandable and also expected.
If it feels right for you,
Repeat these affirmations in your mind or out loud or simply listen to the words as I say them.
You don't need to do anything and whatever you feel or do not feel,
That is completely okay.
I am safe.
I am protected.
Cells,
Please grow and repair to support the healing process.
Whilst it may not feel it right now,
This is temporary.
I am allowing myself to relax and feel even 1% calmer.
This flare up will pass,
Everything is going to be okay.
I am safe.
I welcome you to imagine how you want to feel right now.
It can be wishful thinking but what's the ideal emotion and sensations you'd like?
Is there a particularly dreamy location that would help right now and can you picture that safe place in your mind?
Is there any way you can access and connect with the feeling of just even 1% more joy?
Perhaps just a fraction more calm?
If you're feeling it,
Bask in it,
Go with it,
Embrace it.
If nothing is happening,
That's okay too.
Continue to study your breathing.
If you are open to it,
Visualize a large column of bright light from above pouring down through the top of your head.
It may be golden or pure white or if a particular color comes to mind,
Imagine it.
Perhaps it's a fusion of colors.
Feel it.
This powerful light is a glorious source of invigorating energy that's shimmering and sparkling as it charges down through you.
It brings a tranquil force of peace alongside healing properties and nourishing energy with it that activates your cells to supercharge them.
To connect with them and remind them that it's okay to heal.
Energizing all of your stem cells to initiate more growth and repair.
It's surging from your head down all the way to your toes,
Revitalizing you.
Can you feel it?
This column of light is rejuvenating you and will activate the healing process even if it takes time.
Your body needs a calming environment to continue this repair process.
So think about what you can do for the rest of the day to show your body some love.
A reminder that rest is hugely productive.
Despite everything that's going on with it,
What are the things that your body can do right now?
Remind yourself that I am alive right now.
Isn't that incredible?
That I get to take in the world today even if it's with obstacles and unpredictability.
I am alive right now.
Can you begin to access a little gratitude for the things in your life that you do have?
However small they are,
Observe those things.
If it feels right for you,
You may want to curl a small smile over your lips.
Does this alter anything or change any sensations?
How does it feel?
If you made it up to here,
Whatever you felt or did not feel,
I value the time you've carved out to help yourself feel even a little bit calmer,
Perhaps a fraction more joy or relief.
Giving thanks to your body for what it still does for you,
All of the incredible things it still does to keep you alive.
Take a big deep breath and begin to notice the pressure of the surface that's supporting you,
That's embracing you.
Even if things are uncertain,
Know that you're so protected,
You are safe and everything will be okay.
