Stillness is a quality of beingness,
Of becoming present in the moment as we hush the talk and still the energy.
It is motion in harmony,
It is awareness and it is presence.
Stillness creates space and it removes so much pressure so that you can connect to yourself.
Stillness is where you are just you and you get to be you.
It doesn't happen to us we create it by choosing it and allowing it in.
Before we begin,
Get yourself a glass of water to have at your side when you need it and find a comfortable position.
Settle your body and close your eyes.
Take a deep breath and exhale through your mouth.
Allow your exhale to relax your body and mind.
There are no expectations here,
This is your time to just be.
Bring your attention to the toes on your left foot.
On your next inhale,
Feel yourself drawing your next breath in from your left foot and as you breathe in,
Track the breath as it flows through your body all the way down to your toes.
As it moves,
Choose to connect with each part of your body that it moves through and notice where the energy feels frenetic or stagnant.
Use your breath to find stillness in this energy,
Harmonising movement and pause.
Use your breath to find balance.
When you feel that an area needs attention,
Focus on drawing your breath through this area and bring your hand to the area if it helps and just focus on that area until the energy settles and finds stillness.
When you have worked all the way from your nose to your toes on your left side,
Bring your attention to the toes of your right foot and draw the breath in through your toes.
Track the energy and focus on any areas that need it.
When you have worked on your right foot,
Move your focus to the fingers on your left hand.
Track the energy as it moves across your shoulders and down your arms and hands,
Bringing focus to any area that feels too busy or too quiet.
When you have found stillness,
Move to your right fingers and repeat.
When you have found stillness,
Allow your breath to move through your neck and head until you feel the process is complete.
Allow the breath to still your mind and slow your rhythm.
And when you feel the process is complete,
With each breath you take,
Feel your whole body expanding and contracting in a rhythmical flow.
Focus on your breath as your body and mind find balance,
Harmony and stillness.
Place your hands or your feet upon the ground beneath you to connect you to your environment.
Feel the stillness within you reflected in your environment.
Radiate out your stillness into the space around you.
When you feel you have created stillness and harmony within and without,
Prepare to open your eyes.
As you open your eyes,
Resist the temptation to rush.
Take a moment or two to just be.
Begin to stretch your body,
Wiggling toes and fingers,
Moving your feet and your hands,
Moving your arms and your legs.
Reach for your water and have a drink.
If you can,
Step outside or even just open the window,
Do.
Spending some time outside if you can will help you to continue to breathe into harmony.
