Welcome to Day 22,

The Aptitude of Anger.

Begin by feeling at home where you are right now.

At home with the sounds and sights around you.

Shift your posture to a comfortable,

Awake position.

And with closed eyes shift your awareness inside to your breath.

Follow the stream of air as you inhale and exhale.

Let your thoughts and feelings fly by in the space of your mind and heart.

Let your mind and mind be the same.

Did you ever get angry at someone and in the heat of the moment did something you regretted?

Most of us did.

Let me give you another hidden technique.

We say to burn with anger.

To be hot headed,

A boiling of anger.

So anger is all about heat,

Friction and pressure.

Friction arises from all kinds of conflicts.

Conflicts within ourselves,

With others.

You know that feeling when you just want to explode.

That's when our armour can't hold the pressure anymore and ventilate our anger,

Hurting others and making regrets in the process.

Not the best way.

But what if you had a heat shield?

Anger in itself is not really a problem.

It's an incredible source of protection that is sadly often used for harmful purposes.

Anger can help us take a stand for justice,

For integrity,

For survival,

Like a shield to protect those in need.

But also a sword that stabs those dear to us with our hurtful words and actions in our rage.

Anger can take many forms in our body.

Heat,

Pulsating pressure,

Speeding pulse.

And in our mind we can hear these little monsters.

How dare they?

Fuck!

Shit!

To make your anger a shield and not a sword you need to stay present with these uncomfortable sensations of heat.

And guide these little monsters,

Help them find their way back to the heart.

That's how you reforge the sword into a shield.

So follow your breath,

Focus your awareness in the chest,

On the in-breath.

And the area between your shoulder blades,

On your back,

In the out-breath.

Inhaling and exhaling.

Breathing in cool air.

Cool air.

Breathing out warm air.

Always coming back to balance.

Congratulations,

You have finished Day 22.

Reforge the sword into the fire shield.

A shield you can retrieve in the heat of the moment.

Let's finish by taking a moment of gratitude.

Give thanks for all the good things you have received.

And feel grateful to yourself for all the good deeds you have done for your own and everyone else's well-being.

Thanks you for this new perspective on anger. Also I am doing day 22 now as Insight Timer seems to have skipped days 20 and 21. Maybe they will show up soon.
