Welcome to day 10.
Let's take a moment to scan through your body and send some inner emails of relaxation.
Start with the feet.
Move up through the body,
Feel your calves,
Thighs,
Hips,
Belly,
Chest.
Invite all body parts to relax.
Your back,
Shoulders,
Arms,
Hands,
Neck,
Throat and face.
Remember that you're only sending an invitation to relax.
There's no need to force anything.
Just allow whatever you feel to be here right now.
Where do all these tensions come from?
They arise from an ancient system of self-preservation.
It's like pulling the string of a bow.
When your brain is under stress,
It presses the prepare for panic button.
Every organ and muscle in the body gets ready for the impending disaster.
Which doesn't come of course,
Since today's threats come on a TV screen,
In the news,
In your cell phone or in your own imagination.
So instead of using the energy your body keeps storing more and more energy without releasing it,
The bow is never fired.
The fight or flight mechanism malfunctions and tensions begin to build up.
Physical exercise is one way to release some of these tensions,
But it's an eternal loop.
We push ourselves physically and release some tension,
Only to build it up again the next day with the same worries.
Too much tensions make us frustrated as well,
Which hurts not just ourselves but also our close relationships.
On this journey you will learn a different way to handle the tensions,
To stop creating them in the first place.
As soon as you stop believing the thoughts that generate tension and make different choices in your life that create less stress,
Your body will gradually release more and more of these stored energy reserves that your body has gathered over the years.
And we take it step by step,
One breath at a time.
So keep following your breathing.
