Hi,
Welcome to Peacebeam.
Just make sure that you are sitting very comfortably or lying down if you can,
And just close your eyes and settle down to listen for the next few minutes as we start with step one.
Notice.
This is where we just begin to notice how we are feeling today,
And we ask ourselves the question,
How am I?
And just notice the answer that comes back.
How is your mood today?
How are your emotions?
And just notice.
And then we're going to move to our step two,
Which is breathe.
And this is where we bring our attention to our breathing,
And we just start to notice how our breath moves in and out through our nose or our mouth.
And you can put your hand on your chest now and just feel how your chest rises and falls with each breath.
And just really start to notice how peaceful your breath is.
And now we're going to connect your breath to your heartbeat.
And we do this by imagining that every time we breathe in,
We're breathing in this beautiful golden light that goes all the way down into our lungs and then into our heart.
And with each breath,
Our heart is lighting up with this beautiful golden light.
And every time we breathe out,
We're breathing out golden,
Peaceful light into the world.
And now that we've started to feel that nice,
Gentle,
Relaxed feeling,
We're going to move to step three,
Activate.
And today we're going to talk about fear.
Fear is a very natural human emotion,
And it's really useful because it keeps us safe.
It can stop us from doing things that might hurt us.
But sometimes it can stop us from doing things that we actually do want to do.
And often this is actually because what we're really afraid of is not doing something well.
Often it's the thought of failing,
Of not doing well,
That makes us afraid.
So if we have a test or an exam coming up,
Or perhaps we have to perform in something in front of a lot of people,
Often it's the thought of it that can create that energy of fear in us.
And sometimes it can actually stop us doing things.
Whenever I have to speak in front of lots of people,
I will usually be scared.
But I'm scared in case I don't do it well.
And then the energy of fear arrives.
You start to feel maybe a little bit hot and uncomfortable.
Your breathing gets a bit quicker,
Maybe your heart beats faster,
Your hands feel a bit clammy.
That's often how I would feel before I have to speak.
But one thing that I found really helpful when that energy of fear arrives in my body is that I make friends with it.
And I give it a name.
So I usually call my fear Frightened Felix.
And when Frightened Felix arrives,
I take a deep breath and I say,
I am really glad that you're here because I have to make a speech now.
And I could really use all of your energy to help me get through it.
And as soon as I do this,
I feel my body start to relax.
And I feel a smile arrive.
Because I know that instead of stopping me from making the speech,
The energy of my fear is now going to help me.
And so all of a sudden,
The fear isn't such a problem because it is friendly.
So you can try this too.
The next time you feel worried or anxious or afraid about something that you have to do,
Give your fear a name and ask it to help you.
And now smile at that thought as we move to step four.
When we peace beam,
What we're doing is that we're taking the warm,
Calm,
Peaceful energy that we have reached and we are deciding that we're going to make it available for ourselves and for everybody that we meet during the day.
We're beaming out the very best of us for the benefit of all.
So as you're smiling now,
See your energy beaming out from your heart,
Making the world a better place.
Thank you for listening and we will see you the next time.
Thank you.
