This session helps us when we have had a bad day or have been picked on. It lets us see that difficult thoughts and emotions are temporary and that like the weather, they will pass. An optional practice is to have a worry jar where we can write down our difficult emotions or thoughts and have a parent or teacher help us to talk through them when we are ready.

Hi,

Welcome to Peacebeam.

Let's begin.

Now just make sure that you are sitting or lying down very comfortably and if you can close your eyes for the next few minutes and just let yourself begin to relax as we move to step one.

Notice this is where we very simply ask ourselves the question,

How do I feel today?

And just see what answer comes back.

How is your mood today?

Are you feeling happy or sad,

Anxious or calm?

However you're feeling today just notice it.

As we move to step two which is breathe.

This is where we bring our attention to our breathing.

We're not going to change our breathing we're just going to notice how it moves in and out through our nose or mouth and with each breath just feel your mind and your body relaxing.

Now we're going to connect your breath with your heart and we do this by imagining that with every breath in the air is moving all the way down through your lungs and it flows deep into your heart and with every breath as it moves into your heart.

Imagine that your heart lights up beautiful gold color and as you breathe out the breath comes up from your heart through your lungs out through your nose and mouth and you're breathing that beautiful golden light into the world and as you continue to breathe just begin to feel the rhythm of your heart and the rhythm of your breath greeting each other and creating this really lovely space of peace and relaxation for you to drop into.

As we move to step three activate and today we're going to talk about difficult emotions.

All of us have bad days and the emotions that we like the least like feeling lonely or scared or sad or angry we all feel them even people who always seem confident and happy even those people feel these difficult emotions.

So what can we do when we're feeling something like this?

What can we do so that we don't get stuck in one of these difficult emotions?

Well the first thing to remember is that we are not our emotions and we are not our thoughts.

Think of it like this our emotions and our thoughts are a little bit like the weather.

Some days we have rain,

Some days we have wind,

Sometimes it's snow,

Sometimes it's sunshine.

The weather kind of appears and moves through and it's always changing always different and our emotions and our thoughts are like that.

They come in and then they move out again like rain clouds but sometimes we can have a negative thought that gets a little bit stuck and creates some difficult emotions for us.

A thought like nobody likes me can sometimes stay a little bit longer than we would like and it can make us feel sad and this is when it's important to remember that that thought and that emotion isn't permanent it's just how we're feeling at a particular time that will change just like the sunshine comes out after the rain that thought and that emotion won't be around forever.

So remember all of our thoughts and our emotions are like weather sometimes it's sunny sometimes it's cloudy and raining there might even be a storm but storms don't last forever.

We ourselves are like the sky watching the clouds come and go and enjoying the beautiful sunshine when it appears again which it always does.

Step four peace beam.

Just picture yourself now like the beautiful blue sky bright full of sunshine and beam that beautiful sunshiny light out into the world today with a wish for peace and joy for yourself and for everybody that you meet today.

Thank you for listening and we will see you the next time.

You
