This is Christine with Peace to Earth.
Today I will be guiding you on a rainy day meditation.
I invite you to get comfortable now.
I recommend you do this meditation lying down.
You can use a warm blanket to drape over your body as rainy days often leave us feeling a bit chilly.
Begin to connect to your breathing.
Notice how the air entering your nostril is cooler on the inhale and warmer on the exhale,
Warmed by your body.
Notice how your body is beginning to relax.
Sometimes a rainy day can cause our bodies to feel tight and achy.
Notice any areas in your body that feel that way and let go a little bit more.
Breathe into any areas of tension and feel the surface beneath your body supporting you.
Allow your body to feel fluid and flexible as the rain.
If any thoughts should arise during this meditation,
That's totally normal.
Just notice them the way you notice a raindrop on the window and then let it go.
Let it slide away the way a raindrop slides down and away from your view.
Don't attach to them.
And now with your eyes closed,
I invite you to connect to the raindrops that are falling from the clouds.
Notice how when the clouds become overburdened,
Too heavy,
They let go.
They let the things that are weighing them down fall away.
If there are any thoughts or worries or burdens holding you down,
Keeping you from your light,
From your highest potential,
Connect to the energy of the clouds now and allow yourself to let all those things go.
Let them fall from you.
Let them fall to the earth where they will be absorbed and transmuted,
Becoming life and light.
And as you watch the raindrops fall,
Recognize their life-giving power.
How rainy days are a chance for the parched earth,
Filled with thirst,
To become quenched.
As the water brings life to the flowers,
It fills up the rivers and the creeks.
The entire planet where there is rain,
There is a beautiful soothing sound of running water.
Allow that sound to wash over you now,
Cleansing you,
Clearing away any stress that your body carries,
Washing away any pain in your heart.
Feel yourself growing more peaceful as gratitude fills your body,
As you recognize the gift of the rain.
Feel that warm feeling of gratitude as it fills up your heart.
This water that gives you life,
That makes your sacred life possible,
So easy to take for granted.
But not now in this moment.
In this moment,
We recognize how precious water is.
Allow yourself to bring to mind all the many ways that water supports us.
We cleanse our bodies in warm showers.
We wash our dishes in running water.
Our clothing gets washed.
The food that we eat is only possible with the life-giving waters.
Without it,
None of our food could grow.
Connect to that water now,
And to that sense of gratitude.
Our bodies are made up of water.
70% of you is that beautiful rain.
You are connected to that beautiful rain that pours outside now,
Some of it already a part of you.
See if you can feel that fluid water within your own human body now.
Your body begins to feel as if it's floating on a river.
Let go into that fluid feeling.
For the next two minutes,
I'm going to be completely quiet so that you can let go more deeply into this feeling of floating,
Into this feeling of floating connected to this own water within your body.
I invite you back now to the room.
Before you open your eyes,
I will read a poem I wrote called Oneness.
Rain poured all day,
And I longed to be harmony,
One of those bright purple flowers laughing beneath the kiss of the raindrops,
Dancing,
Drinking in the sky.
Then as I watched the rain slide down her bouncy petals in strings of pearls,
I longed to be the rain.
Until I realized the flower and the rain are not separate at all.
They are one.
You cannot extract the water from the flower,
Or the flower from the water once they join in love.
As I watched them,
A curious human face pressed against a rain-painted window,
I raised my green water glass to my lips,
Swallowed a clear liquid cloud into my body,
Recognizing that a piece of the sky just became me,
And I but a piece of the sky.
Then I raised my glass to the world,
Knowing that all things are inseparable oneness,
That all things are inseparable oneness,
And this love,
And this life.
So when you go out into the world today,
I invite you to take in the beauty that is a rainy day.
Notice how vibrant and green things can look.
Notice the raindrops as they travel down windows and trees and all kinds of things,
And connect to the water within you.
I thank you for joining me,
And if you're sleepy and you have the time,
Feel free to take a nap on this rainy day.
And if not,
I invite you to come completely back to your room,
Open your eyes,
And bring your hands to heart as I bow to the light in you,
To the water in you.
Namaste.
