So,
Let's start this meditation by getting comfortable wherever you're lying.
Or perhaps sitting down.
And just starting to notice the sound in your headphones.
And whatever sounds you may be hearing in the room that you're in.
And connecting to your breath,
The air coming in through your nose.
And out through your mouth.
Starting to relax the shoulders.
Just allowing yourself to become more present and more calm.
Allowing for any distraction that may happen throughout the meditation.
However,
Also allowing yourself to be curious and open to discovering more about self-compassion.
And when we think about the word self-compassion,
What is self-compassion?
It's defined as the ability to show concern for suffering and misfortune.
To show concern for self.
That's self-compassion.
So today we're going to go on an exploration to discover how to show concern or love for ourselves when there is misfortune.
Taking a deep breath in.
We're going to be talking about the higher self,
A wiser,
Older version of ourselves.
That has the knowledge,
The confidence,
And the ability to show concern and care for ourselves.
So I'd like you to imagine yourself heading to a safe place in nature.
Someplace where you find yourself in a safe place.
Where you can explore,
You can be curious.
And you can free yourself of judgment for the moment.
Find yourself in nature.
Just notice the sounds that you may hear.
And breathe.
And I'd like you to start to imagine the appearance of this older,
Wiser version of yourself.
Notice what they look like.
What they're wearing today,
This higher self.
This version of yourself is not only wise,
But has the experience and how to comfort you.
Imagine in this moment if you're struggling to see a version of yourself,
Just imagine anyone that you feel safe and that can show you love,
Someone who embodies that energy.
And start to notice the expression on your higher self's face.
Notice their concern and their love towards you.
And notice how they move with confidence,
Your higher self,
A knowing,
A grace.
Can you start to understand that your higher self's purpose is to be here for you in times when you struggle?
Breathe that knowing in.
So turn towards your higher self and ask them,
How would you show concern or comfort for me when I'm in pain,
When I struggle with challenge?
And notice their answer.
If you ask your higher self,
What words of advice would you have for me when I feel angry or frustrated,
Perhaps triggered or sad about things that are happening in my life?
What advice would you have for me?
And breathe these words of wisdom in.
And as these words of wisdom are coming in,
Perhaps place your hand over your heart and harness the energy that is already within you to accept these words of wisdom.
And if you're struggling right now,
That's okay.
This is the process of uncovering your self-compassion.
This is the process of learning how to be self-compassionate.
You may not have been taught this as a child.
There may not have been someone around to hold you and teach you how to be loving to yourself.
Just breathe that awareness in.
How am I supposed to understand how to be self-compassionate when it wasn't modeled for me as a child?
Starting to understand that you are an adult and that you can learn how to do this at this point in your life.
We can begin to learn.
Breathe that knowing in.
And as you breathe into your heart with your hand over it,
Can you start to feel a warmth gather in that part of your body?
Those are the roots of self-compassion.
Just breathing that feeling in.
And as we head into the sound bath,
Allow whatever feelings are coming up right now to remain.
And to start to let your higher self show concern and care.
However that higher self looks,
Allow it to come forward and embrace you.
Breathe.
Right now this is the process of gaining an awareness around self-compassion.
The embracing of taking care of yourself.
Breathe that feeling in.
And know that it is working.
Allow the tones to take you wherever they may,
Coming back to your breath if you do feel distracted.
And feeling more and more of the love towards your higher self and compassion.
We'll see you on the other side.
We'll see you on the other side.
You you you you you you you you
