Today on the daily meditation,
How to reset your mind.
Do you ever feel as though you're stuck in a rut,
You're thinking the same thoughts over and over again,
Living the same life day by day,
Continually doing the same thing?
If so,
It's time to reset your mind and I have a powerful exercise that is going to help you do precisely that.
Now when I was researching ways to reset your mind,
I came across a lot of different ideas.
Many people talked about the importance of mindfulness and things like Tai Chi to make you more consciously aware.
Many people discussed reading books and watching new movies and exposing yourself to new things to create new ideas in your mind.
However,
None of these ideas that I write about really answered the question of how to reset your mind,
Which is why I digged a lot deeper to find the perfect way to reset your mind and it doesn't even take very long.
So if we want to reset the mind,
We first have to understand how the mind works.
So the truth is your mind,
The centre of your mind is continually refreshing itself.
You see,
The very heart of your mind is pure consciousness.
You are simply aware.
Consciousness is like light that radiates out of your mind.
However,
Just like light,
The things your conscious awareness comes into contact with influence it.
Now the things that your consciousness comes into contact with could be internal things like your thoughts,
Could be physical sensations,
It could be your environment and where you are,
It could be the people you interact with.
Everything that you come into contact with,
Everything that you become consciously aware of influences your mind.
And so to reset your mind,
You have to return to the point of pure awareness.
And then once you become purely aware,
You can change the things that your conscious mind is coming into contact with.
Now that sounds complicated,
But it is actually a lot easier than it seems,
I promise you.
So I'm going to teach you the technique to reset your mind.
And you're going to find this pretty simple once you understand precisely how it works.
And it is going to have a very powerful effect on your mind and on your life.
So as I mentioned,
The center of your mind is pure conscious awareness,
But you have to return your mind to that point of pure conscious awareness.
So I'm going to tell you how to do that using my favorite thing,
Which is meditation.
So to begin with,
Let's just sit comfortably.
I'm going to recommend that you close your eyes,
But for the purpose of this video,
I myself will have my eyes open.
So close your eyes and now simply observe your breath.
We're going to start with a very easy meditation,
But we're going to progress from there into my secret source,
Which will reboot your mind.
So just begin to breathe and observe your breath flowing through your body.
While you're doing this,
You are stimulating your parasympathetic nervous system,
Reducing amygdala activity and balancing cortisol levels,
And all of that will make you feel more relaxed and more peaceful.
Now,
Continuing to breathe mindfully,
I want you to ask yourself one simple question.
Where is your conscious awareness coming from?
Look into your mind and become aware of the point of pure consciousness.
Do you notice that it seems to stem from out of nowhere?
There is this invisible place in your mind of pure emptiness.
Get in contact with that and continue to focus there.
So this is the heart of your mind and your conscious awareness spreads out from there.
Now from there,
Everything that your mind comes into contact with is going to influence you.
That could be your thoughts,
Your feelings,
People that you associate with.
Anything that you come into contact with is going to influence you.
So to reset your mind,
You have to change the things that you come into conscious contact with.
And that is a lot easier than it seems.
So return to focusing on your pure awareness.
Now notice when thoughts come to mind.
So typically we get stuck in our thoughts and you might experience the same thoughts over and over again,
Which is why you feel like you're trapped in the same mode of living.
All I want you to do is be aware of the fact that you are thinking.
And when you observe a thought,
Simply say to yourself,
This is just a thought.
Now studies show that when we do this,
We reduce the influence of thoughts in our lives.
So if you've been experiencing the same thought over and over again,
By simply being consciously aware of the fact that you are thinking and saying,
This is just a thought that will decrease the level of influence that those thoughts have on you.
So from now we've gone from pure awareness to our thoughts,
And we've reduced the influence of our thoughts.
Next,
We need to come to physical sensations.
Now continuing to meditate,
Be aware of physical sensations in your body.
Whenever you experience a physical sensation,
Simply say to yourself,
This is just a physical sensation,
Nothing more.
Again,
This reduces the reactivity to physical sensations.
Now I'm going through this quite quickly,
But you can pause the video to continue to meditate in this way,
Or carry on meditating after the video.
Either way,
All you want to do is be consciously aware of what's happening in your mind and your body,
And then label those things.
And that will reduce the influence of those things in your life,
Freeing your mind.
Now open your eyes.
So again,
Our mind is influenced by everything that we become consciously aware of.
So right now you're probably consciously aware of the room around you or whatever environment you happen to be in.
Now what you must understand is that everything that you're consciously aware of is influencing your mind.
And what that means is that if you change any of those things,
You will also change your mind.
So I could give you some examples,
But there are infinite possibilities.
Cleaning your room,
Redecorating,
Monitoring the people that you become,
That you associate with and changing them or changing your relationship to them,
Literally everything.
So what you must do is what Patanjali,
The yoga guru,
Wrote about in the Yoga Sutras.
You must be aware of everything that your mind is coming into contact with.
This is a principle of yoga called Pratyahara.
So Pratyahara is about sensory withdrawal.
It's a very deep spiritual technique.
However,
For the purpose of this video and for the purpose of resetting your mind,
All you really need to do is just be aware of the fact that every single thing that your conscious awareness is exposed to is going to influence your mind.
So if you're stuck in the same mode of thinking and being,
And you need to reset your mind,
You need to change whatever your mind is being exposed to,
Which could be again cleaning your room,
Redecorating,
Introducing new things into your room.
The possibilities are literally endless.
So I've gone through a lot in this video and I would like to do a recap to really clarify the process of resetting your mind.
So your mind is pure conscious awareness.
However,
Every single thing that your mind comes into contact with influences your mind.
And that includes your thoughts,
Your body,
Your beliefs,
Your physical sensations,
The environment that you're in,
The people whom you hang around with,
Literally everything.
Now you can reduce the impact of internal things by simply observing your thoughts and labeling them and saying this is just a thought,
And then your thoughts will have less influence.
Same thing with your body.
If you experience physical sensations,
Just say this is just a physical sensation that will make you less reactive to that.
And from there begin to be aware of all the things that you are being consciously aware of.
Ask yourself,
Does this thing in my life,
Whatever it is,
Whether it's your home,
Whether it's the people that you're interacting with,
Whether it's being on social media,
Whether it's like literally everything,
Whatever you come into contact with,
Ask yourself,
Is this keeping me trapped in the same mode of thinking and being?
And if it is keeping you trapped in the same mode of thinking or being,
Then look for ways to change it.
That could be as easy as getting off of social media,
Or it could be as difficult as acknowledging the fact that hey,
Perhaps there's this person in my life who I'm close to,
But they're not influencing me in a positive way.
Can I reduce the amount of impact that that person is having in my life?
Can I simply say goodbye to them or perhaps a better idea,
Can I change the relationship so it is more positive?
So again,
Be aware of pure conscious awareness,
Spreading outwards,
Label the things that your mind comes into contact with.
Ask yourself,
Is this good or bad?
If it's good,
Keep it.
And if it's bad,
Say hey,
Maybe it's time to change this.
And that is the process for resetting your mind.
