Excellent that you pressed play.

You're starting the job.

The most important job that you can ever do,

Making sure you are well.

Welcome.

My name is Patrick Christopher Ehler and I'm your host today for this little mindfulness exercise.

Take a moment and check if there's a chair or maybe a couch or maybe even the floor where you can make it comfortable for yourself.

Do a little short body scan.

Is there any tension somewhere?

Maybe in the fingers,

In the jar,

In the chest,

In the shoulders.

Try to be curious what happens if you consciously let go of a little bit of the tension that you identified with the next out breath.

For the next couple of seconds.

Focus on the moment the in breath begins.

It ends.

And now the moment that the out breath begins.

And it ends.

Today I want you to take this little metaphor of the Lotus.

A couple of years ago,

It was actually 2019.

I visited Mallorca,

The Balearic Islands.

A small village called Valdemosa.

And I stayed up in a very old building on the mountains.

And there was a little pond.

I remember the day was super warm.

The sun was shining.

The sky was bright and blue.

I felt very calm.

It was a soft sun.

One that strokes the skin.

One that kisses the skin.

And in the pond,

There were several Lotus flowers,

Twelve.

And there was one that I recognized it was closed.

I didn't wonder.

When I came back after half an hour walking through the garden,

I saw that the Lotus flower had opened.

And another one had closed.

And even though it was sunny.

For me.

The idea was clear that flowers open when the sun is shining.

But those two Lotus flowers,

They knew when they needed time to refrain.

To close back the blossom.

I took a moment and reflected when it is that I could take a break.

Even when the sun is shining,

Even when life starts to get very sparkly and beautiful.

Am I pausing and taking a moment to step back and to reflect?

To get some rest in.

I could identify some of those moments.

Where I could have done it.

And this was a little past reflection.

And I want you to try this fancy little thing out.

The next time you feel that life is shiny.

Everything is blossoming.

Take a moment and pause and see.

If the quality of the way that the sun kisses you changes.

By checking in and seeing if it's maybe time to close the blossom a while.

I'm referring here also to things that catch our attention.

Like Netflix,

Intent shows,

Books,

News and foods.

All of those things,

They can be super shiny people.

And I fancy like the idea of what the lotus flowers did.

They closed even when they felt attracted by the sun.

It seemed very wise what they did.

You listened a while now.

It's time to bring attention back to the breath.

Letting go of what we just spoke about.

The little story I told you.

And do a double check.

Is there any tension within your body?

And if so,

Take a deep inhale with me.

And consciously ease a little of this tension in your jaw,

Maybe in your chest,

In your shoulders,

Your fingers,

Your toes,

Your tongue.

Even in the mind.

To finalize this little mindfulness exercise,

I would like you to imagine that there is a beautiful lotus flower within your heart.

That is blossoming.

This is one of those lotus flowers that blossoms for eternity.

And also knows when it's time to take a pause and refrain.

And I want you to imagine that you are the one having the capability of having a rest and asking this flower,

This blossom to close a little.

And simply by taking your hand and putting it on your chest,

On your heart.

And telling yourself,

Hey,

It's fully okay to rest.

Let's have a moment of ease.

To digest.

It's fully okay to rest.

Take a deep inhale with me.

And on the exhale,

Let your hand go from your chest.

And feel how the blossom is opening again.

Thank you for participating in this Lotus journey.

My name is Patrick Christopher Eeler.

And I am your storyteller for today.
