Our focus for today is on the heart and enlivening its qualities of peace, love, compassion, joy, gratitude and inclusiveness. A simple meditation to activate our heart space and feel more connected to ourselves and others.

Hello and welcome to Soul Sparks.

Our focus for today's practice will be heart-centered awareness and enlivening the properties of our heart is a way to bring us into the present moment.

Go ahead and get settled in a comfortable spot where you'll be undisturbed and you can sit in an upright position.

Your hands can rest comfortably on your lap,

Your palms can be up for a more energizing meditation,

Or palms down for more grounding.

If during the meditation you feel as if you need to shift your position,

Feel free to do so mindfully.

Your eyes could be closed or half closed with a downward gaze.

I'll invite you to let go of expectations and to be kind to yourself.

Let's get started.

Let's first take some natural breath.

Just noticing where you're feeling the air coming into your body.

Perhaps it's your nose or your chest or your belly.

Imagine looking inward towards your heart and let your attention rest there as you continue to naturally breathe.

See if you can become aware of your heartbeat pulsing in your chest.

Perhaps you notice that same pulsing in your palms.

Just become aware of the same pulsing in your chest.

Perhaps you notice that same pulsing in your palms.

Just become aware of the sensations as you continue to breathe.

If you like,

You can imagine your breath is moving into and out of your heart center,

As if it were a doorway to your breath in and out of the center of your chest.

Without judgment,

Notice how the energy feels in this heart space.

It might feel warm or soft or prickly.

Just becoming aware of the sensations in your heart space.

And begin to think of the properties inherent to this heart space.

Peace,

Harmony,

Laughter,

And love.

And now,

Very slowly,

Silently repeat these properties as you feel them become enlivened in your being.

Peace,

Harmony,

Laughter,

Love.

Peace,

Harmony,

Laughter,

Love.

Keep silently repeating at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

When you notice that you've drifted away to thoughts or sounds or physical sensations,

Very gently drift your awareness back into your heart.

Peace,

Harmony,

Laughter,

And love.

You can now stop repeating the words and just allow yourself to rest in this heart-centered awareness,

As you feel these properties enlivened in your being.

We'll meditate for a little while longer,

I'll keep track of the time,

And you'll hear the bell when our time has come to an end.

Very nice and gentle meditation that left me feeling warm and grounded (and aware of considerable resistance in my heart!). I would have liked a little longer settling time in the beginning...
