The many natural disasters in the world remind us, on a global and personal level, of how quickly things can change and the impermanence of life. Hence, the practice of letting go supports us to experience greater ease and fluidity in our lives. It is a moment to moment process of deep embrace, living as fully as we can live. It is an invitation to welcome the moment as it arises so that we are free to embrace the next one. As we recognize the impermanence of the people, places and things in our lives, what reveals itself is what doesn’t come and go. Surrender as you let go and embrace that which lives within. *Gratitude to Marina Raye for sharing her music track “Awakening Dream” from the album Liquid Silk.

Hi,

This is Padma Gordon and today I want to share a meditation on letting go with you.

We are in such a time of change and turmoil and natural disasters,

Fires here in California,

Earthquakes,

Floods.

It's a really big time.

One of the pieces that is alive for me on the global level and on the personal level is letting go.

I'd like to share a meditation with you on letting go and how you might find greater ease and fluidity as you let go.

Because life is really a moment to moment process of deep embrace and letting go.

We are living as fully as we can possibly live and then we are invited to let go,

To let go of moments with our children,

With our loved ones,

Moments that are fleeting and then to embrace the next moment.

So it really is a process of deep embrace and deep surrender,

Deep letting go.

So I invite you to sit down or lie down,

Make yourself comfortable,

Set things aside for just a few minutes.

Take this time for yourself to fully embrace this practice of letting go,

Of really letting in the impermanence of things,

The impermanence of people,

Place,

Shelter.

And in that letting go,

What reveals itself is what doesn't come and go.

And we can fall into a deeper embrace with that.

Let's begin by taking a really full breath.

Taking a few more to allow yourself to settle in,

To drop in,

To surrender into a moment of non-doing,

A moment of being.

So as you breathe,

You allow yourself to fall deeper inside,

Feeling the weight of gravity,

The heaviness of your bones,

And perhaps with your next breath,

You can let go into gravity.

Let go and let go a little bit more.

Release,

Releasing the jaw and letting go of any tension in your neck and your shoulders.

And as the body releases,

So too can the conscious mind release,

Relax,

And let go.

Because the more we can relax,

The more we can let go of anything that's been weighing us down.

We can let go of any negative thoughts,

Self-critical thoughts,

Anxious thoughts.

As they drift up into the sky,

Just like clouds floating higher and higher,

Gently carried by the wind,

Cleaning and clearing,

Letting go,

Letting go of anything that might be passing through this clear sky of the mind and settling deeper,

Deeper inside.

As this gentle fluid wave of relaxation travels down through your torso,

Releasing all the organs,

Softening the heart,

Letting go of the belly.

Any holding in the back can soften.

And I know that you know just what's needed to move to your next level of relaxation,

Finding ease.

And if there are places that you come across that might not be ready,

You can just bring patience,

Bringing the warmth of your attention to those places,

To those parts,

Recognizing that we can't rush letting go.

Being patient,

Bringing the fullness of breath,

Letting go,

Trusting maybe there's something that you've been holding onto,

Something,

Someone,

Some story.

And what if,

In this process of deep relaxation,

The mind also lets go,

Trusting that whatever is ready to be let go will naturally find its way,

Find a pathway out through your body,

Through your breath,

Through bringing awareness to yourself.

Sometimes,

We might feel afraid of letting go,

Wondering if we're ready to let go.

And we might feel that we will still be taken care of,

If we'll still be loved,

If we'll still have enough.

And the truth is that we won't know until we let go.

Taking your time,

Bringing gentleness,

Kindness,

Friendliness,

And letting go.

Letting go through the hips,

Through the whole pelvic region,

Softening,

Softening,

And letting go through the legs,

The muscles,

The tendons,

All the tissues,

Releasing all the way to the soles of the feet.

Letting go,

Falling deeper into silence,

Deeper into trust,

Deeper into love.

That's right.

It happens one breath at a time,

One breath at a time.

And the more you practice this,

The easier it will be to let go of thoughts that are no longer serving,

Habit patterns,

People,

Things that you've been doing.

Letting go with ease,

Letting go with grace.

Trusting and letting go,

Trusting and letting go,

Trusting and letting go.

And I invite you to reach out to me,

To contact me for support with letting go,

For support with whatever you might need so that you can rest more deeply into love,

Into peace,

Into silence.

I'm here as your ally.

I'm here as your ally.

This is Padma Gautam thanking you for your attention,

Thanking you for your time,

Thanking you here as your ally,

As you let go into trust,

As you let go into love,

As you let go into silence,

Into silence,

Into silence.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Such a soothing voice and this was just what I needed right now. This was one of the most gratifying periods of meditation I have experienced in a while. I keep trying to come up with a way to describe how much I appreciate this and none of the words I type seem adequate. Thank you. 🙏
