Hello and welcome to this insight.
Today I wanted to talk about my experience of the difference between happiness and peace.
We're all trying to find happiness.
The funny thing about happiness is that when it's not there we become unhappy.
So in the moment that we have what we desire we're happy and that's a very short period of time.
And when that thing that we desire so much is gone,
That moment of happiness is lost.
There's something deeper than happiness.
In my experience peace is that deeper awareness.
And the interesting thing about peace is that it comes from within us.
And it can always be there.
Happiness is attached to duality.
And you're happy and when you don't have your desire you're unhappy.
When you're fulfilling that desire you're happy again.
So it's a very dual state.
And peace has this quality that it doesn't depend on the outside.
It's when you go within yourself and meditate or do some technique that brings you to that deeper level and you start to rewire the brain for you to feel this deeper awareness that is not changing.
It's there stable and it goes beyond happiness.
I'm not trying to tell you that happiness is not important.
It is because it's part of our life.
But you can enjoy happiness from the perspective of peace.
So what is that?
That means that if you don't have what you desire,
Peace is going to be still your priority,
Your core.
It's important to notice that happiness is attached to the outside world.
Because one desire comes.
I'll give you one example that's happening to me.
I want to sell a piece of land that my father,
When he passed away,
He gave me a piece of land.
So I have a great desire to sell it.
But I'm still at peace because I don't want that desire to consume me if I can't sell the land and be unhappy because of that.
So happiness is entangled with unhappiness.
And it's a dance that makes you go up and then down,
Go up and then down.
And the more desire you have for something,
The more suffering you create for yourself.
Because desire creates like an addiction.
So when that moment of happiness comes,
The brain has a very high dosage of dopamine and it really connects those synapses that are related to that happy moment.
And they become very permanent.
So when you don't have that happy moment,
Those synapses are sending signals to the body and saying,
I want my dopamine,
I want my dopamine,
I want my dopamine.
Like crazy.
And peace is something more profound and subtle and at the same time it brings another perspective to desire and to happiness.
And to unhappiness.
Because you're like in a plateau.
It's not going up or down,
It's just there.
Imagine you're sitting in a car going straight with no curves,
Ups or downs.
But always with a feeling of peace and a beautiful surrounding.
But that surrounding,
That view that you have is coming from within you.
And it's infinite.
The source of that peace is infinite.
It's never ending.
It's always expanding and expanding.
So it doesn't create the rush of dopamine,
But it does relax you and create something not so ephemeral.
It's lasting,
It's continuing.
One example I have is when you desire somebody and when you love somebody.
The desire to have a partner and fulfill that desire with that partner is very different than loving that partner.
Because love is a deeper thing.
It transcends the form and it goes to the soul.
And it goes beyond time and it's not only attached to form.
And when you love something you can almost touch its immortality.
So I recommend that you practice the mantra I am peace.
I am peace.
I am peace.
And try to reshape your mind and experience something deeper than happiness and desire.
And become acquainted with the path that will stable your emotions and the deepness and awareness of your thoughts.
I send much much love and healing and beauty for you.
And thank you for listening.
Many many blessings.
