Hello,
My name is Natalie and I am a meditation teacher here on Insight Timer and I'm excited to welcome you to this meditation around navigating confusion with kindness and compassion.
Before we get started I want to invite you to find a quiet and comfortable space either sitting or lying down.
This is a beautiful one to listen to right before going to bed so finding that deep sense of comfort and if you feel comfortable closing down your eyes letting go of your busy and exciting day.
I want to bring your attention to your beautiful breath and whilst here we'll take a deep breath in through the nose and gently breathing out through your mouth letting your body soften and let's do that again breathing in filling yourself with fresh calming air and as you breathe out letting go of anything heavy allowing your breath to return to its natural flow with each breath noticing how your body begins to settle and calm down and you are safe right here just as you are now there's a real power in kindness and compassion and in fact these are one of the most powerful things that we can give not just to others but to ourselves when we meet ourselves with compassion instead of criticism we build inner muscles when we offer gentle words instead of judgment we create space to grow affirmations are a simple but powerful way to practice this self-kindness kindness they help train our minds to be softer more patient more supportive just like we would be for someone we love the more we repeat them the more they take root becoming a part of how we speak to ourselves every day i want to share with you some beautiful powerful affirmations that i practice with my daughter nearly every day these have helped her meet her feelings with understanding patience and self-love and i hope they do the same for you let's begin sometimes we might feel a little lost like we're standing at the edge of a big forest unsure which way to go maybe your feelings feel big and swirling like clouds in the sky some are light and fluffy while others feel dark and heavy and that's okay feelings can be confusing sometimes but just like the weather feelings are always changing storms don't last forever and neither do tough confusing moments whatever you're feeling right now it's okay no feeling or emotion is right or wrong you see being a human being you are entitled to feel all that you are feeling so let's imagine yourself now as a tall strong tree some days the wind may blow and your branches may sway you might feel uncertain unsure but deep down inside you have strong roots roots made of kindness compassion and the way you take care of yourself no matter how strong the wind blows your roots keep you steady and when things feel confusing you can always pause breathe and find your way back to that steady place inside you now let's place your hand gently on your heart feeling the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe in and out and as you breathe out I want you to feel the warmth there deep down in your heart center feel your own kindness my daughter is now going to say the affirmations we use together if you like you can say them out loud repeating after her or simply just listen and let them settle into your heart are you ready let's take a beautiful deep breath in and breathing out through the mouth let's let these words sink in it is okay to feel unsure sometimes I am kind and patient with myself I want to remind you that like clouds moving across the sky your feelings will come and go some days the clouds may feel big and dark but after every storm the sun always shines again and no matter what it is it's helping you grow understand and learn more about yourself and these affirmations are a powerful way to help you grow understand and learn let's take one more deep breath in and as you breathe out know that it's okay to feel confused you're doing just fine you are learning more about yourself every day and with kindness with patience you will always find your way through now when you're ready you might bring yourself back to this moment gently wiggling your fingers and toes or perhaps you're about to drift off to sleep and in that case letting all that I've shared here rest in your mind your heart and your body remembering you are loved you are enough and you can always be kind to yourself no matter how you feel
