Hi,
This is Orie Krug,
Board certified dance movement therapist and trauma and relationship expert.
This is a quick movement meditation to help you understand what you need right now.
You can do this in any position you'd like.
And we will start now with one deep breath together.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Closing your eyes or lowering your gaze,
Tune into the first sensation that comes up in your body right now.
Whatever that sensation is,
Whether it's a tightness in your shoulders,
A tingling in your fingertips,
Butterflies in your stomach or something else,
Invite movement into the sensation right now.
So what does your body instinctually want to do in response to the sensation?
What do you need right now?
If you felt a tightness in your shoulders,
You might instinctually want to start rolling your shoulders in one direction or another.
There's no right or wrong.
If you felt tingling in your legs,
Maybe start to just shake them a little bit or stretch them.
There's no right or wrong here.
What you need has no right or wrong.
Whatever you need right now is valid.
But make sure that you're responding with your body.
You're allowing your body to lead you because our minds can get so caught up in what's right or wrong or what should I do right now or what shouldn't I do right now.
And when you actually ask your body what you need,
You find the answer right away.
So move your body just a little bit more,
Feeling what do you need.
Are you needing to expand?
Are you needing to take up space?
Are you needing to retreat?
Are you needing to make your voice be heard?
All of these things you can find through your movement right now.
Because if you found yourself stretching out,
You can see that you need to take more space.
If you found yourself bringing in your knees and hugging them and rolling into a little ball,
You can see that you may need to retreat or make yourself smaller or just hug yourself and give yourself support.
And if you started moving with more forceful movements and you could literally hear the sound of them hitting the ground,
Then maybe what you needed was to make more impact or let your impact be heard.
These are just a few examples and there are so many more possibilities that may have just happened for you right now.
Whatever it is,
Just know that this is authentically what you need right now.
And take a moment here to breathe in and out.
And thank your body for letting you know what your mind could not figure out before.
Maybe show that to your body by holding yourself or maybe giving yourself a hug or whatever that looks like for you right now to thank your body.
