This movement-based meditation will help you understand what's blocking you from being able to let your guard down and trust your partner today. Hi,

This is Orit Krug,

Board certified dance movement therapist and trauma and relationship expert.

Today I would love to guide you through a movement based meditation to help you trust your partner.

This is for you if you actually know you have a loving,

Supportive,

Healthy partner,

But you can't trust that they won't betray you,

That they won't lie to you,

Abandon you,

And eventually break your heart.

Even though you can see how much they love you,

You can intellectually remind yourself how much they love you and care about you.

It's like your body is so afraid of getting hurt and your nervous system feels so protective of you that you keep believing the stories that you are not worthy of this healthy love,

And it makes you so anxious and even panicked that you cannot trust your partner.

It might even feel obsessive,

Compulsive,

Like you have to find the evidence that they're going to hurt you because at least if you know now,

Then you know and you can protect yourself.

In this meditation,

I want to help you find some relief and a taste of what it would feel like to really trust your partner and let that healthy love in.

And to start,

We are going to take two deep breaths together,

Breathing in and breathing out.

One more time,

Breathing in and breathing out.

You can close your eyes or lower your gaze.

And I'm going to ask you to tap into those moments where you really feel like you're not trusting your partner.

You feel like you might have to look through their phone or email or you have to question everything that they do for you and even without you.

Where do you feel that in your body right now?

Do you feel your chest constricting?

Do you feel maybe your shoulders tensing up?

Maybe you don't feel anything at all and you feel numb.

There's no right or wrong and everyone who's doing this right now is going to have a different experience.

I want you to pinpoint where in your body this really impacts you when you're not trusting your partner.

You might feel an urge just to totally curl up into a ball and shut down.

Wherever you're feeling in your body right now,

I want you to invite organic movement into this at the moment.

What does your body want to do?

If your body really does want to curl up into a ball,

Go for it.

If you're feeling so much tension in your body,

You may feel the urge to breathe in and breathe out and release some of that tension.

Maybe you feel more activated and you want to shake out this fear,

This tension that you feel in your body.

You might even find yourself wanting to come all the way down to the floor or stand up and start walking around your space with heavy feet,

Heavy stomping feet.

There is no right or wrong.

Please just follow your instincts here and really feeling into yourself through your movement what's coming up for you.

Are you feeling angry?

Are you feeling sad?

Are you feeling scared?

Whatever you're feeling,

Ask yourself,

How old am I right now?

What is this about right now?

Because if you're in a healthy relationship right now,

But you're having intense feelings of not trusting your partner,

This is coming from your past.

So what is this really about,

Not being able to trust your partner?

Whatever you're feeling right now,

It's okay.

There's no shame.

There's no judgment in this.

It's just your body telling you you have unresolved trauma.

And even though we can't release it here in this meditation,

We can acknowledge it.

We can send love to it.

We can give ourselves a hug right now.

We can gently soothe ourselves,

Maybe a gentle sway.

Maybe you just feel some tears coming out.

And now that you know that not trusting your partner is really about you,

You can now follow focus on you.

If you're holding yourself right now,

If you're just doing a gentle sway,

Or even if you've already become still,

I'm gonna ask you to just gradually,

Slowly come to a satisfying pause in this movement.

And let's take one more deep breath together.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Thank you so much for taking this courageous step to explore what's really living inside of you right now.

You can come back to this meditation as many times as you need.

And until next time,

I hope you know that you deserve to be able to let healthy,

Lasting love in.

Orit has sucha calming voice and manner of speaking. I feel surrounded in a warm embrace when I listen to her meditations. It is helpful to feel where the emotions live in the body- it brings my awareness to all the parts of my body and helps me find my way to accetpabce for all my parts. I feel more inside my body.
