Hi,
This is Ori Krug,
Board-certified somatic dance therapist and anxious attachment specialist.
This is a sleep meditation to help you calm your fears and anxiety related to anxious attachment and fear of abandonment.
We are not here tonight to fix,
Resolve,
Or change anything about you or about what you are feeling.
We are here tonight to simply be with ourselves and our bodies exactly as they are.
Even if it's really uncomfortable,
Even if it feels like there's no way you could possibly relax into sleep,
Let's take away that expectation that we have to relax,
That we have to calm down,
And that we even have to sleep tonight.
Let's put all that aside and just be here with ourselves.
Let's take a deep breath together.
Breathing in and out.
Again,
Breathing in and breathing out.
One last time,
Breathing in,
Returning your breath to normal.
You can breathe however you want.
And even as we take deeper breaths throughout this meditation,
Remember,
It's not to solve or fix or calm anything.
It would only be to follow our natural instincts to take a deeper breath.
I'd love to invite you to notice the strongest,
Most pronounced sensation in your body right now,
Whether it's a racing heart or butterflies in your stomach or tension in your shoulders.
Whatever it is,
Pinpoint just one sensation,
The one that seems to be speaking the loudest through your body.
Imagine that there is a younger version of you speaking through this sensation.
How old is this part of you?
Stick to the first number that comes up.
Now,
Imagine that you can see this part of you on a movie screen in front of you.
You can see how this younger part of you holds themselves in their bodies,
Moves through the world,
Whether it's walking on the street or just moving from the kitchen to the bathroom.
How this younger part of you gestures and interacts with others.
See this part of you at the age that immediately came up for you.
And now draw your attention back to the sensation in your body that's been speaking the loudest to you.
Now,
Imagine that this younger part of you that you just spent some time really tuning into is creating the sensation in your body right now.
This younger part of you,
For whatever reason,
Can't speak to you in words just yet,
But is speaking and trying to get your attention through this very strong,
Pronounced sensation in your body that you may often label as anxiety.
Knowing that this sensation is a younger part of you speaking through your body,
I want to invite you now to begin instinctually moving your body in a way that acknowledges this younger part of you in this part of your body.
For instance,
If you have a racing heartbeat,
What would you instinctually want to do to tell this younger part of you through your heartbeat,
I see you,
I hear you,
I know you're just trying to connect with me and I'm here now with you.
Because you may be in bed and it may be late,
There doesn't need to be any big movements,
Anything complex,
A simple touch,
A simple movement,
Even a breath may be enough.
And for the next few minutes,
Continue to use movement and your body to have a conversation with this younger part of you through your body.
For instance,
If you started to put your hand on your heartbeat,
Maybe you feel the heartbeat even stronger,
And then your hand puts even more pressure on your heart.
And you can imagine it's like a call and response conversation that you get to do for the next few minutes.
And at the end of these few minutes,
I will gently guide us to come back to a place of neutrality and maybe even calm.
If you happen to drift off into sleep,
Please feel free.
And if you don't fall asleep,
That's also totally fine.
Whatever you're doing right now,
However you may be moving with yourself,
Gradually,
Gently slow down your movements until you eventually come to a stopping place.
And when you reach stillness,
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
Whatever happens for you next,
Remember,
All your body is trying to do is speak to you.
And the more we listen,
The more we feel in harmony,
The more we stop the inner fight,
And we can relax through our days and know that you are deserving of the love you desire.
