Hi,

This is Ori Krug,

Board-certified dance movement therapist and trauma and relationship expert.

Today,

I would love to guide you through a movement-based meditation on reclaiming your identity after divorce.

When you experience divorce,

You experience a loss and a huge shift to your identity.

What you once knew was true about yourself and your life suddenly becomes completely questioned,

Uncertain.

In today's meditation,

I'd love to help you embody more certainty and security in who you are,

Even as you're going through this huge change in your life.

To begin this meditation,

Find a position that feels supportive to your body right now.

You may choose to lay down,

Sit,

Or stand.

And once you settle into that position,

Let's take two deep breaths together.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Again,

Breathing in and breathing out.

I'd like to invite you now to close your eyes or lower your gaze.

And in your mind's eye,

Or perhaps envisioning yourself on a movie screen,

Picture the life that you want to create as you move forward with this divorce or as you heal and move on into the next version of yourself.

Envision your body,

How you are holding yourself in your body,

How you are moving about your world,

Whether you're walking from the kitchen to your bedroom or walking down the street as you pass by other people.

See yourself in this vision.

And instead of focusing on what you're doing and who you're with,

Focus on the way that you are holding yourself in your body and the way that you are moving in your body.

There may be other people around in this vision.

You may find yourself in specific locations.

And that's okay.

But really focus on your body and your movements in this visualization.

How does this version of you that has settled into a new identity or an upgraded or evolved identity after divorce?

How is this person moving about your world?

And whatever you see right now in your vision,

Your posture,

Your gestures,

The quality in which you are moving and holding yourself,

Start to invite that into your body literally and physically right now.

So,

For example,

If you see yourself moving more slowly or moving with more flow,

Perhaps you see yourself taking up more space or gesturing towards others with more firmness or something else that you saw.

You can literally try that on in your body right now.

You can try on slower movements,

Movements that feel more fluid,

Movements that take up more space,

Movements that are soft yet direct and firm.

Don't worry too much about getting it quote unquote right.

There are no right or wrong movements.

And all of this is an exploration in which I'll ask you to lead with play and curiosity and to drop the seriousness from it.

Follow your body's instincts to move this version of you who has gone through divorce and is moving forward in life,

Reclaiming,

Discovering your identity,

Who you are and how you move in this world.

I'm going to leave a minute here for you to play with this and know that your movements can be repeated over and over again.

So if you find a movement or a set of movements that feels so good,

Just do them over and over again.

It's also possible that whatever way you're moving can evolve,

Shift,

Grow or come back into stillness or smaller movements.

Follow the flow of your body,

Holding this visual in your mind and the intention to find and reclaim your identity after divorce.

I'll leave a minute here now for you to play and move.

And after the minute is done,

I'll guide us to come to a gentle close.

Whatever you're doing right now,

However you are moving,

Start to gradually,

Slowly make your movements smaller until you eventually reach an ending pose.

There's no right or wrong pose,

But perhaps see what ends up being natural to you,

Whether it's hands on heart or a self-hug or putting your hands up in the sky.

Once you reach this ending pose,

Let's take a deep breath altogether,

Breathing in and breathing out.

I encourage you to take notes,

Jot down a few thoughts or things that you noticed that you really enjoyed embodying as you tried on your new or evolved identity after divorce.

What were the ways in which you moved and held your body that felt right,

That made your body go yes,

That you want to continue embodying,

Even if you're currently in the midst of your divorce,

That you want to keep embodying as you're nearing the end or still healing from a divorce that happened a while ago.

Instead of focusing on exactly what you want to be doing or how you want to be doing it,

You can take this experience to focus on no matter what you do,

This is how you want to feel in your body,

Hold your body and move about your world through relationships,

Through your career and any other opportunities that arise from this new space in your life.

Thank you for trusting yourself,

Thank you for trusting me and until next time,

You deserve all of the love that you desire,

No matter what is happening in your life,

No matter if your heart is still broken,

You deserve all the love.

Just meditation was so awesome and amazing. And it got me to move in my own natural way through dance and a couple standing yoga, poses and help closer and more connected with my True cell self. Thank you.
