Hi,
My name is Aurique Krug,
Board certified dance therapist and trauma and relationship expert.
Today,
I would love to guide you through a movement based meditation to feel secure in your relationship without needing constant reassurance.
This is for you if you know in your mind that you have an amazing,
Loving,
Supportive partner and yet your body really struggles with believing that you are worthy and deserving of this.
You may remind yourself that it's safe to let your guard down,
It's safe to be loved,
But in your body you feel closed off,
Tense,
And anxious over the tiniest things.
You may be sabotaging any opportunities for intimacy and connection or creating big,
Big problems out of really little things,
Which just means that your old trauma is getting triggered at the slightest reminders that you were once hurt and abandoned and rejected in the past.
So today,
I want to help you connect to your body just to get a taste of what it would feel like if you really did feel secure in your relationship and you really believe that your partner does think the world of you.
Instead of trying to remind yourself in words and thoughts and affirmations that you are worthy,
I'm going to help you start to feel it in your body because if you don't feel it in your body,
You won't feel it.
You won't be able to let in their love.
We're going to start by grabbing the first visual memory that comes to you around the last time you felt really confident,
Really secure in your own body.
Even if it was just something you experienced for a fleeting moment,
Maybe you gave a really amazing presentation at work.
You really nailed it.
Maybe you went out with your friends and you were able to let loose and dance a little bit and you were really feeling yourself.
Maybe there was a previous moment where you were cuddling with your partner on the couch and for just a moment you felt so secure and worthy of their love.
Once you grab that memory,
That visual memory,
Notice how that feels in your body.
Maybe there's an excitement in the sensation of butterflies in your stomach.
Maybe you feel a little softening,
Like you can just relax.
Or maybe you feel an energy running through your body,
Through your skin that makes you feel alive.
Whatever it is,
There's no right or wrong.
As you're tuning into this sensation,
I'm going to also ask you to keep this visual memory of you in this moment.
How are you holding your body?
How are you moving your body?
And start inviting movement into your body to match this.
So if you were more softened,
Maybe you start just softening a little bit,
Swaying maybe,
Just gently moving.
Perhaps if you notice that you took up more space,
Your voice was louder,
Stronger when you gave this presentation at work.
You can start reaching your arms or your legs out into the space around you right now and feel again what it's like to take up more space.
Or if the memory driving you now is a night out where you let loose and just moved your body the way you desired without any inhibitions,
Start recreating that now.
Maybe you just start with a small shimmy of your shoulders or wiggling your toes and perhaps it expands into something bigger.
It's also 100% okay if whatever you're doing right now is really subtle and small.
For as long as you can hold onto and move with this sensation of security,
Safety,
And confidence and maybe even expansiveness in your own skin,
Move that.
And before I ask you to bring this to a close,
I just want to say that if you can embody this and feel this in yourself in a way that really sticks,
Then you can always feel that in your relationship and you won't have to question your partner's love anymore because you feel it so deeply inside of yourself.
So now,
Slowing down,
Gradually,
Slowly making your movements smaller,
Find a satisfying pause here.
And take a deep breath in and out.
Notice what you feel right now in your body.
If you were able to access a sense of confidence and security,
Notice what that feels like in your body right now and see if you can bring it into your relationship.
If you felt like something was blocked and you couldn't access that,
That's okay.
Come back to this meditation and try again.
