Hi,
It's Ori Krug,
Board certified dance movement therapist and trauma and relationship expert.
Today I would love to guide you through a movement meditation to help you feel safe no matter where you go and no matter who you're with.
Because as trauma survivors,
We often don't feel safe.
We worry that something bad is going to happen to us because it's happened in the past.
And even in safe places and in safe relationships,
We wait for the crap to hit the fan.
And I want to help you feel safe and not listen to those trauma stories of the past and really appreciate the moment in your life,
In your body,
In your relationships today.
So we're going to start with two deep breaths,
Breathing in and breathing out.
One more time breathing in and breathing out.
I'm going to invite you now to visualize with your eyes closed or your gaze lowered.
Visualize the most relaxing place you have ever been or even dreamed to be.
The first image that comes to you,
Maybe it's a beach with calm water,
Cool breeze,
The warm sun against your skin.
Maybe it's somewhere more like in the mountains,
In the lake on a partially cloudy day.
Maybe it's a specific memory of something that has made you feel so loved and comforted.
As you hold on to this image,
Now invite an organic movement or a pose that your body just naturally wants to do in response to seeing and feeling this vision.
Just one movement or just one pose.
So you may feel the desire to bring your hands to your heart.
You may feel a desire to stretch up and out like almost like you're waking up in the morning.
Or you might find that you're doing a gentle sway.
Another option could be that you simply put your hands on your thighs with slight gentle pressure.
There is no right or wrong here and it's best that you listen to what your body wants and follow through.
Whatever movement you have just done,
That is now your safety movement.
Wherever you go,
Whoever you're with,
You can do this movement to signal to your body that you are safe today.
And it is safe to be you.
And it is safe to express yourself however you'd like.
So make sure you hold on to this movement.
Express it many times and bring it everywhere you go.
