Trauma makes it feel uncomfortable and unsafe to feel and show confidence. Because trauma is stored in the body & nervous system, we cannot convince the mind or repeat affirmations to finally feel confident. We must believe and feel it in our bodies first. In this movement meditation, I'll safely guide you to begin embodying confidence so that you no longer have to feel insecure, unworthy, or afraid in relationships and life. About healing trauma, feeling worthy of love, and releasing anxiety.

Hi,

This is Orit Krug,

Board certified dance movement therapist and trauma and relationship expert.

Today,

I would love to guide you through a movement-based meditation on embodying your confident self.

When we experience past trauma,

It can feel really uncomfortable and even unsafe to our nervous systems to feel confident and to show that we're confident to others.

You may repeat affirmations or talk a lot about how you want to be confident,

But your body remains insecure and uncomfortable in its own skin.

So today,

Let's go through a gentle,

Safe experience to understand what you really need to do in order to finally feel confident in your mind,

Body,

And soul.

You can start this movement meditation in any position,

Laying down,

Sitting,

Or standing.

And if at any time during the meditation you want to change positions,

That's also okay.

Let's take three deep breaths together to begin.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Again,

Breathing in and breathing out.

One more time,

Breathing in and breathing out.

Closing your eyes or lowering your gaze.

I'm gonna invite you now to imagine or visualize a version of you that is totally confident,

Totally confident and comfortable in your own skin.

Not only do you feel confident,

But you feel confident in showing your confidence.

Imagine this version of you,

Or you can feel into this version of you.

How are you moving your body now that you're confident?

You may see yourself gesturing with other people a certain way.

You may see yourself walking into a room in a certain way that's different than before.

You may feel that you're holding yourself and your body differently.

It could be a slight difference in your posture or in the way that you hold your head.

Maybe you envision yourself standing in a different way.

There's no right or wrong,

So just see this version of you and start to invite movement into this visualization.

Just allow your body to begin moving organically and naturally now that you've envisioned or imagined this confident version of you.

How are you moving right now?

How are you holding yourself and your body right now?

You might start to intentionally bring some of that vision into reality by moving it.

So if you pictured yourself walking into a room in a different way,

Could you get up right now on your two feet and try walking that way?

Maybe you imagine that the way you stand up is different.

Your chest may be more open,

Your head may be slightly tilted up,

And you can try on that movement in your body right now.

There is no right or wrong way to do this.

You can allow movement to organically develop or you can try some different ways of moving that feel aligned with your vision.

Let your body lead you.

Your mind might say,

Hey,

You visualize walking this way,

So make sure your movements match exactly that.

If that's happening for you,

That's normal.

But just try to let your body lead.

Try to let your body lead you into it and naturally get there.

Don't force anything and don't try to make something happen that's not naturally wanting to happen.

Confidence really comes from this authentic,

Flowing,

Trusting place.

So trust your body right now and allow your body to lead you into a confident feeling.

And just notice what's happening.

Where are your movements leading you to?

You might be taking up more space right now.

Perhaps your movements are reaching out further into space all around you.

And that may resemble feeling more confident to take up space and be seen.

Maybe you're just so in the moment that whatever way you're moving right now is spontaneous.

And you're not really thinking about the way you're expressing yourself.

You just are,

Without second guessing yourself,

Without thinking too much about it.

And that's what resembles confidence for you.

Maybe you find that you're doing smaller movements much more in connection with yourself.

You're physically touching your body,

Nurturing your body.

And there's something about being more connected to yourself that makes you feel more confident.

In fact,

It may make you realize in this moment that you're often too disconnected from yourself to even know what it feels like to feel confident.

Maybe something completely different is happening for you.

There is no right or wrong.

I'm just providing examples just in case this is new to you and you're not sure what's happening right now.

Keep moving your body.

Keep allowing movement to organically come up,

Whether they're big movements,

Small movements,

Or somewhere in between.

You might even find confidence in stillness.

And that might mean something really important to you,

That it's not the doing and the always going that makes you feel confident,

But it's actually slowing down and being still in your own body and feeling peaceful there.

There are so many different meanings that we can make from this.

So many different things that our bodies can reveal to us about what we need to feel confident.

It's okay if you haven't found any meaning in this experience today.

Sometimes it takes people just one experience of trying this.

Sometimes it takes many,

Many,

Many times.

We are all in different parts of our journeys.

Just remember yours is unique.

Keep moving,

Keep embodying your confident self,

Whatever that looks like right now.

And in about a minute,

I'm going to gently prompt you to start slowing down so that we can find an ending together.

Whatever you're doing,

However you're moving,

Just remember that you're doing it.

However you're moving,

Start to slowly and gradually bring your movements to a close.

Take your time making your movements incrementally slower and smaller until eventually reaching a satisfying ending for you.

And you may find that you naturally end in a pose.

Maybe you end up holding yourself or standing up tall or something else that naturally emerges.

Let's take a deep breath together now.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Gently open your eyes.

Look around the space.

You may make physical contact with your body.

To acknowledge that you're here in this present moment in this physical space and that you've just had this intimate,

Meaningful experience with yourself.

No matter if it felt good or bad or somewhere in between,

This was a valuable experience.

You can come back to this meditation anytime you want more clarity or insight about what it will take for you to truly embody your confident self.

And until next time,

You deserve to feel and be seen safely and powerfully in your confidence.

Thank you.

You're welcome.
