Today is all about grounding the root chakra.
As you all may know,
I'm doing a seven day series of chakra meditations and chakra for each day.
I'm Aname,
That's how you pronounce my name,
Like Aname afternoon.
And I am so enamored with the power of the chakras.
So in our simplified westernized version of the chakras,
We're looking at seven different domains of energy management that correspond with different domains of life,
Different domains of the body.
And today we're gonna start with the root chakra,
Which is why I'm wearing red,
Which is the color that most popularly corresponds with the root chakra.
You may notice that different colors speak to you in different chakras,
Different domains of your life.
And this series is called In Your Own Words,
Precisely because I'm a big proponent of you finding your own language,
Finding your own voice,
Finding your own unique perspective in terms of how these different elements of different chakras resonate with you.
You know,
There's sort of the standard that has evolved over time,
You know,
Ever since the idea of,
Or the phenomenon,
The framework of chakras was introduced to the west.
And then there's your own particular life journey that has led you to gravitate to certain ways of knowing or certain ways that knowledge will hit you,
Certain perceptual filters that you may have.
So I'm gonna just kind of throw out everything,
Including the kitchen sink.
And as I'm doing that,
Notice what sticks for you.
Notice what language sticks for you,
What words,
What colors,
What impressions,
All right?
It's not a one size fits all.
There is a template,
But then you make it work for you.
All right?
This guided meditation involves a praxis of,
A combination of explaining and experiencing as much simultaneously as possible.
So let's start with breath,
Which is a very powerful grounding force in our lives.
And the reason why we call the root chakra the root chakra is because it is the chakra that governs,
The domain of groundedness.
What are the things that ground us?
Denseness,
Density,
The third dimension,
So to speak,
Of life,
Meaning every day,
Taking care of business,
The nitty gritty,
The little details of life that make life run.
The root chakra is also the domain of the intergenerational inheritance.
Inheritance,
How you come to function in your life.
Your family of origin plays a huge role in that.
And to the extent that your consciousness,
To the extent that you are aware of your capacity to make different choices or to shift the inheritance that you were given,
It's that awareness that allows you to choose to keep and perpetrate the intergenerational gifts and to release and transform the intergenerational traumas.
So we inherit both and we do things like meditate in order to parse out what's serving our highest good and what may have served us in childhood,
What allowed us to survive,
What allowed us to get to adulthood,
But it's no longer serving our highest good today.
All of that is the domain of the root chakra.
So I want you to first,
As you're breathing in deeply,
Visualize the color red.
And first notice what shade of red immediately comes to you.
Maybe it's a rich deep crimson,
Maybe it's burgundy,
Maybe it's closer to pink,
But just notice what shade of red speaks to you.
It'll be a different red for every person.
Maybe it'll be the red of my sweater,
Maybe not.
You're putting your own awareness and you're witnessing where your consciousness goes as I give you these prompts.
Now I'm going to share some words,
Guided association.
And as I share these words that are associated with the root chakra,
Notice which words or phrases speak to you.
Notice which words or phrases make your consciousness tingle.
And it may be something about the sound of the word,
The particular syllables in the word,
A memory evoked by the word,
Depending on how you're oriented.
Any number of these angles of approach may resonate with you more than others.
Colors that the word may evoke,
Smells,
Your sensory experience of that word.
Okay,
Here we go.
So root chakra,
Root vegetables,
Earth,
Underground,
Darkness,
Shadow,
Covert,
Family,
Conflict,
Intergenerational,
Taking care of business,
Inheritance,
Probate,
Envy,
Siblings,
Closeness,
Intimacy,
Trust,
Self-trust,
Self-love,
Death,
Lineage,
Bloodline,
Business,
Grit,
House,
Home,
Safety,
Awareness,
Street smart,
Calm,
Gross,
Dense,
Fertile,
Fecund,
Soil,
Dirt,
Weed,
Homeless,
Adrift,
And the word,
Is chakra,
The word,
Is chakra,
The word,
Is chakra,
The word,
Is chakra,
The word,
Is chakra,
Is chakra,
The word,
Network,
Support,
Growth,
Tangible,
Strategic,
Practical,
Degree,
Husband,
Wife,
Children,
Legacy,
Riches,
Poverty,
Take a deep breath in,
And release.
If there were any particular words that activated something in you,
Activated you emotionally,
Gave you an impression,
A memory,
Something to hook onto,
Ask yourself,
Why those words?
Explore.
What is it inside of that word,
Or those words that evoked or invoked something within you?
What is it that they evoked or invoked or provoked within you?
Now choose one of those words to focus on for this next prompt.
And I want you to create,
I invite you to create an affirmation that speaks to that word,
That speaks to the universe of that word,
Of what that word evoked for you.
If it is something that is a challenge to you,
Something that we would ordinarily frame as negative or difficult,
Then you would frame your affirmation in terms of releasing that negative,
Difficult,
Challenging thing and transforming,
Alchemizing it into that which you desire to create more of in your life.
So for example,
If you are someone who,
I'll just throw this out as what feels like a random example,
But may very well speak to someone in a very specific way.
If you grew up in foster care,
And so your relationship to home and family is filled with a lot of static,
To parse through and to unpack and to release,
Then maybe for such a person,
A word that would jump out to them would be home.
And so if you grew up with a sense of instability around home,
Then what would be the affirmation of what you're looking to create now?
Hint,
It would not be,
I am no longer feeling unstable in my home life because that puts the focus on instability.
You wanna put the focus on what you actually want to create.
So I am fill in the blank of what you want to create.
All right,
So by now you've chosen your word and we've got a great example of a word of safe.
I am safe,
That is a wonderful affirmation.
And I've got a question of where am I?
Oh,
I am in upstate New York.
You all were sharing,
You're from Munich and South Carolina and Hawaii.
I didn't even share where I'm hailing from.
I am hailing from upstate New York and I was born and raised in Chicago and my family's from Nigeria.
So I have a lot there in my root chakra as far as the notion of being from somewhere and the idea of origin.
So you've got your word or phrase.
And now take a moment once you've verified that your affirmation is in the present tense.
It's not I was,
It's not I will be,
It is I am.
Fill in the blank of what you are creating,
What you are manifesting,
What you are conjuring,
What you are healing,
What you are transforming,
What you are alchemizing.
Yeah.
And as you do that,
Let's have you take a deep breath and speak it out loud.
And take a deep breath in and release.
Have a wonderful morning,
Afternoon,
Evening,
Wherever you are.
Oh,
You'll continue working on yours.
Excellent.
Yes,
Please continue working on yours and exploring and finding that language that really speaks to you and speaks for you.
All right,
Take care.
Bye bye.
