Transcript
Welcome relaxation and self-discovery as we shift into the light.
The season of the Tha,
The warmth returns and the earth begins to awaken.
Deep within there is a stirring.
We are ready to embrace the energy of growth,
Of renewal as the cycle begins yet again.
All that we've held over the wintering months is now ready to shed.
The layers can be peeled back,
Revealing our lightness.
As we continue our transformation,
Just as the seasons transform,
We welcome renewed vibrance,
Purpose,
Passion.
The journey begins to ease that which has been in our way is now beginning to melt,
Just as Mother Earth begins her Tha.
Our focus turns sharper now.
It is ever more important to be gentle with ourselves during this time.
Allow the grace and fortitude that will empower us.
As the distractions fall away,
Heaviness releases.
We are left with a clear path ahead as we emerge from the darkness.
Surrender now as we begin the sacred practice of Yoga Nidra.
Give yourself permission to absorb the teachings as we travel the subtle energy bodies,
Which the sages and yogis have known as the Koshas.
Whatever your experience today is exactly as it is meant to be,
No right or wrong,
Your mind may chatter or distract.
Simply note thinking and return to watching your breath as you're ready.
This may be a continuous cycle,
Or you may fall asleep,
All which are perfectly fine as the healing and the nourishment you need will be received as you are.
Settling into your comfortable position,
Traditionally laying on your back,
Arms,
Legs,
Wide,
Or any shape which allows ultimate comfort,
As we'll be here for the remainder of the practice.
As your body dips into deeper brain states,
So will your temperature.
As the body grows extremely heavy,
Taking supports under the back of thigh and covering with a blanket may help you stay in this comfortable state of stillness.
Awareness now into the muscles of your legs.
Feel them release their grip as they grow heavy.
The arm muscles begin to soften into heaviness.
With every exhale,
The face releases any expression.
The jaw heavier as the tongue falls from the roof of the mouth.
And the eyebrows begin to melt,
Allowing yourself to be fully in this moment.
Notice any sounds far away out of this room.
What is it you can hear?
Moving within the room,
Sensing any sounds,
Vibration.
Moving deeper now within the body.
Experiencing your breath moving within.
The beating of your sacred heart.
Your life force at your very core.
Feel the body as it's being breathed.
The rise and fall of your chest.
This natural pattern of rise and fall.
This innate intelligence of the body being breathed as breath draws into the body.
And releases.
Sensing the body as it experiences breath.
As the body is being breathed.
Drawing breath in from the tips of your toes,
Traveling the top side of body.
And releasing down backside body.
This vibrant prana draws in through the toes all the way to the crown of the head.
And the old residual energy travels down the back body,
Out the feet.
This pure prana.
Drawing in from the toes to head.
And traveling down the back body,
Out the heels.
Breathing in what it is you'd like to bring into your life.
With every breath out,
Releasing what you were ready to let go of.
Breathing in the new.
Breathing out the old.
Breath now travels to the center of the rib cage.
Into the center of your beautiful heart.
And it is here you begin to reconnect into your truth.
And this is the truth of you that has always been.
It is here to remind you of your wholeness.
Your enoughness.
That you alone are enough.
That you are secure and safe.
The universe has always worked in your favor.
As you were valued,
You were loved,
You were all of this.
Somewhere along the way we are conditioned into believing that may not be true.
As it shows up in all areas of life,
Holding us from our truest potential.
It is time to hear your heartfell once again.
Reminding you as we claim your I am statement known as Sankalpa.
San connects with your highest truth.
Kalpa is the vow.
The truth of who you are and who you've always been.
Return to that knowing now by stating your Sankalpa three times in silence.
Traveling the layer of the physical body and the maya kosha.
Becoming aware of your body as it expands and contracts with your beautiful breath.
Aware of your beautiful energy.
As it begins to gather and pool on the right side body.
Shifting into the palm of the right hand.
Feel this energy pulsing and vibrating in the palm of your right hand.
As it pulls into the right thumb.
Second finger.
Third.
Fourth.
Fifth.
The space between the fingers.
To the back of the hand.
Wrapping around the wrist.
Traveling up the arm.
Through the elbow.
The shoulder socket.
Down the side rib.
Past waist.
Hip.
Into the upper thigh.
Pulling through the knee.
Lower leg.
Wrapping the ankle.
Spreading out across the top of foot.
Into the heel.
And the sole of the foot.
The energy is pulled into the right big toe.
The second toe.
Third.
Fourth.
Fifth.
The space between the toes.
And now the energy spreads all the way from toes to the head.
The whole right side body pulsing.
This vibrant energy.
And the energy crosses the body now.
Landing into the palm of the left hand.
As it pools and vibrates there.
This pure energy is pulled into the left thumb.
The second finger.
Third.
Fourth.
Fifth.
The space between the fingers.
To the back of the hand.
Wrapping around the wrist.
Moving up the arm.
Through elbow.
And the shoulder socket.
And traveling the left side rib.
Past the waist.
And hip.
And into the upper thigh.
Traveling through the knee.
Lower leg.
Spreading across top of foot.
Into the heel.
And the sole of the foot.
Into the left big toe.
Second toe.
Third.
Fourth.
And fifth.
And the space between the toes.
The left side body lighting up with this pure energy.
The energy travels now into the heels.
Right.
And left.
Moving up the back body.
Through the calves.
And the tender space underneath.
The back of thighs.
And spreading throughout the glutes.
Into the low back.
Into the base of the spine.
Lighting up into the vertebra one.
By one as it travels higher.
Into the spine.
Moving past shoulder blades.
Into the cervical spine.
And spreading across the whole back of head.
To the crown of the head.
As this energy washes down the forehead.
Eyebrows.
Right and left eye socket.
Both ears.
Both cheeks.
Nose.
Lighting the upper lip.
The teeth.
Tongue.
Inside cheeks.
Lower lip.
And the chin.
Spreading across the whole jaw.
Washing down the front of throat.
Across the shoulders.
Moving down the chest.
Past the heart.
And the softness of the belly.
And pulling into the pelvic bowl.
And the whole top side body filled with this pure energy.
Whole back side body.
And into the both hands.
Now both feet.
Feel this energy flood the entire body.
This pure energy vibrates through the whole of you.
Filled with this pure energy.
And bringing it back into the breath as we enter pranamaya kosha.
The layer of breath.
And bringing it back into the breath.
As the breath consciously chooses you.
Choose breath in this moment.
Connect with the flow.
As it fills into the chest.
Expanding into the belly.
Expanding and contracting.
Inhaling and exhaling.
Feeling the movement caused by the natural breath.
As the breath fills the body.
And washes away.
Begin to count the breath.
Beginning at 11 and working down to 1.
As you draw your breath in.
As you draw breath in.
And release it out.
11.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
10.
Continue on your own pace.
No place to be.
No rush.
Enjoying this experience of breath.
Counting down.
Releasing the count now.
This nourishing natural breath.
As the body is continued to be breathed.
Enjoy the space of the breath.
How the body moves with breath.
Become aware of the space surrounding the body.
How is the space around you being moved by your breath?
Aware of the space around the body.
As we move to Manomaya Kosha.
The emotion body.
Awareness of the body.
Awareness returns to the center of the chest.
Aware of your beating heart.
As we move into the seat of witness.
Observing reaction to emotion.
Simply observing and then releasing.
Curious how we may respond.
As the body grows heavy.
Body becomes so heavy.
Sinking down as it melts down.
Experience heaviness.
Welcome in a sense of lightness.
As the body releases all that is weighing it down.
Growing into lightness.
Lighter.
Light as a feather.
Body is so light here.
Experience wetness.
Heavy rain soaking your clothes through to the skin.
Growing wetter as you are soaking wet.
As the body is so light.
Whole body dripping.
Now drying off the scorching desert sun.
Drying up all your clothes.
Drying your skin.
Drying your skin so much it begins to crack with the dryness.
Sense the body as it begins to fall.
Body is falling.
Falling faster.
Free falling.
Experience falling.
Slowing down.
Slower.
Slower still.
Body is now still suspended in mid air.
As you float.
Body is floating.
Experience floating.
Releasing into a neutral space as we are floating.
Releasing into a neutral space as we arrive into the wisdom body of Vijnana Mayakosha.
Eyes travel the dark expansiveness of the third eye.
The dark canvas behind the eyelids.
Chi to cash.
Allow images to arise.
And then release without emotion.
Moving to the next.
A hula hoop.
Lightning in the night sky.
Prayer flags blowing in the wind.
Raging fire.
A feather.
Chess board.
Skipping rope.
Heavy frost.
Avalanche.
Turtle swimming.
Booming thunder.
Pedaling a bike.
A lightening bolt.
Mount Rushmore.
Opening a door.
Paddling a canoe.
Paddling a canoe.
Paddling a canoe.
Diving off a cliff.
A lightening bolt.
Diving off a cliff.
Swimming with dolphins.
Smell of smoke.
Doorbell.
Typewriter.
Steamy shower.
Scorpion.
Blooming flower.
Sailboat.
Waves crashing.
Footsteps.
A car starting.
Caterpillar crawling on your hand.
Swimming underwater.
Underwater.
Your bare toes in the grass.
A giant boulder.
A giant boulder towering over your head.
Cold,
Granite.
Heavy and still.
Approach the boulder as you come closer.
Reach your hands out.
Placing your hands on the coolness of the rock.
As the coolness radiates through your fingertips.
Moving up the arms and spreading along your body.
The coolness consumes your chest.
Your legs.
The whole body experiences the coolness of the rock.
As you become the same temperature as the boulder.
You become connected with it.
As your palms press against the rock.
As your palms press into the surface of the boulder.
The tension begins to give way as your hands now enter into the space of the boulder.
As you are pushed inside.
Slowly pulled through the surface.
The whole body is now inside this boulder.
Fully engulfed in cool granite.
Inside this granite exterior.
This stone barrier.
A sense of being caged in constriction.
Just enough room to move.
The coolness spreading throughout.
As you know there is much to be doing right now.
Feeling the restriction of this boulder keeping you from it.
Discomfort.
Resistance.
The need to release from this discomfort.
As you shift your body back.
There is just enough room to rest back.
Here it feels different.
As you press your back further.
There is a sense of air.
Pressing more.
Spaciousness opens up.
Moving further back.
Pressing back.
The body is free.
As the space around you expands.
It is dark.
Still cool.
Just enough room to move here.
In this cage of the boulder.
The body feels lighter.
The senses are heightened in the blackness.
So quiet.
No sound.
Stillness is deafening.
Stretching your arms out on either side.
Back to the cool rock.
As the rock surrounds you all around.
Pressing the palms into this rock.
As coolness begins to travel the fingers.
Spreading throughout your whole body.
Ready to push past this feeling of stagnancy and heaviness.
Push your arms against the rock.
With all your might.
Pushing with all your will.
Leveraging your feet out in front against the rock.
Your back is pressed up against the wall.
Pushing in all sides.
Feet and hands in your back all pressed against the rock.
This coolness.
Pressing with all your might.
Calling all the strength you can muster.
Pushing as you gather your strength.
Feet and hands.
Your back.
Pushing so hard as the wall and the rock encasing you.
As you press wide open.
An incredible explosion of rock propelling outward.
As you are released from this granite cage.
As you are free.
The clouds above begin to part.
As this brilliant light shines down.
The sun beaming down upon you.
Your chest.
Warming into your chest.
Warming into your heart as it connects with this beam of sun.
Filling your whole chest.
Expanding in this light.
This pure light.
As this light spreads throughout all of you.
Surrendering.
Surrendering to this light.
To its wonder.
The awe of this whole experience.
Humbled.
As you surrender.
Letting go of all your worries.
Letting go of all you know.
Surrendering here.
As you hear the wisdom from within.
Sun Kalpa rises.
Vibrationally activate it now as you state your Sun Kalpa.
Three times I am.
And so it is.
And it has always been so.
Connecting with this vibration.
Connect with your heart warming in this sunlight.
As the body begins to glow in this pure light.
As it fills the entire body.
What is it you wish to know?
Entering into silence so you may hear the wisdom.
Anandamaya Kosha.
Coming back into breath.
Deeper breath here.
Visualizing your room as you see the four walls.
The floor.
The ceiling.
Seeing all six directions at once.
See yourself laying there.
Laying in this room.
As you hover above your body.
Looking down upon yourself.
In pure adoration.
See yourself laying there.
As you send love to the self.
Pure love.
Love as you see yourself laying.
Drawing a breath in of pure compassion.
Releasing anything that needs to go.
Breath of pure love.
Release of any stagnant energy.
As your breath begins to grow deeper now.
As you return into this space.
You feel the weight of the body.
As it's being held and supported.
Aware of the temperature upon your skin.
Aware of yourself in this space.
As you return more fully now.
Guide your body to rest on your left side.
In this humbling gesture of rest and nurturing.
As we surrender into this moment.
Surrender here.
And receive.
The practice of Yoginedra is now complete.

This was one of the best nidras I’ve experienced (and I’ve been practising daily for eight years). Gentle and powerful.
