This traditional Taoist practice is a way to embody I Ching, and to understand this ancient wisdom beyond intellect, with intuition. In this practice communicate with the divine, and listen to nature, including your own divine nature. This particular traditional practice is also a way to prepare for consulting the I Ching whether you utilize seeds, coins, yarrow sticks, or even the clouds. The wisdom I Ching originated 6,000 years ago, and has survived the ages because it's effective in cultivating peace and fine tuning insight. It is effectively an ancient way of sensing oneness energy and the universe, while is also a way of receiving divine guidance through nature and through your own nature. In our Daoist tradition,

We begin and end with nine sounds.

As you listen to the nine sounds,

Allow yourself to open to the intention of cultivating peace.

Prepare your body for meditation by adjusting your posture.

Let your spine be long like a river.

Allow your energy to flow without blockage by relaxing your body.

Your hands may rest in your lap or you may clasp your hands softly.

Flip your tongue,

Allowing the back of your tongue to press to the upper palate of your mouth.

This allows your energy to flow most completely.

Breathe naturally through your nose.

Allow your abdomen to inflate as you inhale.

Allow it to contract as you exhale.

Allow your breath to be long,

Deep,

Unhurried.

Breathe all the way into your feet,

Into your hands,

And into your entire being as you inhale.

As you exhale,

Let go of toxins and stress and make sure to exhale completely so that you can constantly be breathing fresh chi.

Allow your thoughts to come and go without resistance.

Practice Wu Wei,

Allowing.

Focus your mind on this practice and if your mind wanders,

Gently bring your focus back to this meditation.

If you haven't already,

Close your eyes or lower your gaze.

Bring your awareness into your lower Dantian.

Focus there and notice what you feel and experience in your belly area.

Bring your awareness into your middle Dantian in your heart area.

Focus there and notice what you feel and experience.

Bring your awareness now into your upper Dantian in your head area.

Focus there and notice what you feel and experience.

From the point between your eyebrows called Tian Mu,

Focus and visualize the light of the North Star.

Focus or experience a bridge of light beaming from the North Star to your Tian Mu,

Also called the Crystal Palace.

Allow the benevolence of this bright white,

Perfectly balanced,

Guiding light to enter through your Tian Mu.

Allow this starlight to fill,

Bathe,

And permeate your upper Dantian in your head area.

Allow this light to flow into you,

Filling,

Bathing,

And permeating your middle Dantian in your heart area.

Allow this kind,

Benevolent light to fill,

Bathe,

And permeate your lower Dantian in your belly area.

Allow this light to bathe your entire being.

Feel oneness with the source of spiritual essence,

The North Star.

Let go of time.

I will mine the time as you practice natural meditation,

Allowing your mind to relax,

To calm.

I'll drop you into silence now for three minutes.

Settle down,

Breathing.

Practice letting go of any lingering negative energy by allowing or visualizing an ethereal,

Energetic rain as it washes over and through you.

Allow your senses and awareness to awaken,

Receptive to the divine guidance inherent in nature and in your nature.

To embody the eight aspects of each Ching Ba Gua,

Honor,

Universal,

Divine nature,

In heaven,

Also called sky or father.

See and feel the vastness of the sky and the clarity gained from the light of heavenly bodies.

Feel the brightness of sky as it exists within you.

You might sense this as a clear mind,

A light heart,

Or a vibrant,

Open heart.

Feel the sky and the clarity of sky present within yourself.

Feel the sky and the clarity of sky.

Feel the sky and the clarity of sky.

Feel the sky and the clarity of sky.

Honor the universal,

Divine nature of earth,

Also called mother.

Nourishing and receptive.

Feel earth energy beneath you,

Stable and compassionate.

Notice how the earth is there for you in every moment of every day.

Relax into the gravity cradling you tenderly to earth,

Never so strong that it crushes you,

Never so weak that you drift away.

Feel this grounding energy.

Feel your connection to earth,

Who has nourished you from birth until this moment.

The earth gives and is also open to receive.

Seeds can be planted,

Homes can be made,

All variety of weather is received.

Sense the same earth energy within yourself.

Feel grounded,

Rooted in harmony with this planet.

Feel your own gravity and sense your own receptive nature.

Feel this openness to receive.

Feel granted.

Honor the universal divine nature of fire.

The strength of fire is in its focus.

When fire is focused,

It can warm your home cooked food light the night.

Bring your awareness to the manifestation of fire.

Fear in a cozy home hearth or perhaps the fire that flows through wires as electricity.

Consider the fire that moves an automobile or even the fire that cooked your last meal.

Sense your inner fire.

Notice the warmth in your belly,

Your breath,

Your heart.

Feel the warmth in the palms of your hands.

Notice how steady your inner warmth can be and allow it to light your awareness with creativity,

Inspiration and upward moving energy.

Nurture your fire so it can light up your life and inspire others.

Sense the energy of fire within you as your inner passion and compassion come into focus.

Nurture your fire so it can light up your life and inspire others.

Nurture your fire so it can light up your life and inspire others.

Honor the universal divine nature of water.

Water that flows will never decay.

Water is gentle yet powerful enough to carve deeply into stone to overcome great obstacles.

Open your awareness to the vast oceans dancing with the moon even as you listen to these words.

Flowing in perfect rhythm as tides reach toward land kissing the shores.

Sense the same vastness of waters flowing within you as your heart beats,

Your blood flows,

Your lymph cleanses,

Your endocrine system secretes hormones flowing in a divine rhythm like the tides.

Your eyes,

Mouth and nose persist in producing life-supporting moisture.

Feel the water deep in your bones as your marrow.

Sense the energy of vast waters within you as you flow naturally with life.

Nurture your fire so it can light up your life and inspire others.

Honor the universal divine nature of water.

Honor the universal divine nature of thunder.

Thunder is the awakening force of the sunrise.

Bring to your awareness the experience of a dawn,

The beams of light breaking through the blue stillness of night.

Thunder energy is a beautiful daybreak allowing light into the expanse which had been darkness,

Whether the expanse is the land or your inner awareness.

Sense profound thunder within yourself,

An energy awakening beyond normal wakefulness to higher levels of consciousness.

Feel your energy lifting upward in the play of natural forces.

Communicate through the night.

Touch the sky.

Lake or rain.

The deep openings in the earth naturally gather water,

Perfect for reflecting all within view.

Water collects in the low spaces in earth with an inherent promise of nourishment.

Bring to your mind a vision of a calm,

Clean,

Fresh lake,

Reflecting the sky,

Mountains,

And everything in its view.

Sense your openness to deepening your willingness to reflect,

Allow this inner space for reflection to nourish your life.

Honor the universal divine nature of the wind.

The wind and the trees and flowers facilitate pollination and health through movement.

The bamboo that bends doesn't break.

The wind teaches flexibility,

Gentleness,

And movement.

Feel the energy of wind like a kite feels lifted,

Ever higher as leaves being swayed,

Dancing with a playful breeze.

Sense the wind within yourself as your own flexibility and movement.

Sense the dance within your own being as you engage with the movement of life.

The wind and the trees and flowers facilitate pollination and health through movement.

Honor the universal divine nature of mountain.

The mountain energy holds the energy of stillness,

Regal and calm,

Still,

Yet often full of bustling life within.

Mountain energy is stable,

Safe,

And majestic.

Bring to your awareness a vision of a mountain range.

It can stretch as far as the horizon,

And it can stretch back in time,

Holding its stillness for thousands of years.

Sense the stillness within yourself.

Feel as if you can remain still,

Content,

And peaceful without rushing into the next moment.

Sense your enoughness that you are complete as you are.

Rest in this stillness.

Like hibernation,

Stillness is necessary for natural nourishing replenishment.

Thank you.

Bring your awareness of energy to your upper dantien in your head area.

Bring your awareness of energy to your middle dantien in your heart area.

And bring your awareness to your lower dantien in your lower body.

Bring your awareness of energy to your lower dantien in your lower belly area.

If you'd like,

You can rub your hands together and place your warm palms over your eyes to awaken your eyes in preparation for re-engaging with your world.

We'll now close our practice with nine sounds.

Traval Folk Thanks for watching!
